Bairon stepped out of the room.
At the top of the spiral staircase, Bairon encountered Maples, who seemed to have nothing to do.
"How was your conversation with Elder Doe?" Maples inquired.
After a moment of contemplation, Bairon responded, "Quite calm."
Maples burst into laughter, saying, "You're the first person to ever describe Elder Doe as such."
Bairon's face turned slightly red with embarrassment.
It was indeed somewhat disrespectful to describe a future Epic Master as "calm." Yet, that was the truth.
"Elder Doe mentioned that if I want to access Catherine Latovia's records, I should ask you," Bairon added.
Maples replied, "Yes, but the records are kept in the treasury and cannot be taken out. So, I would need to accompany you at all times."
"In that case, never mind. Maybe next time."
Bairon offered Maples a magus salute and turned to descend the stairs.
