Lycan Williams slowly opened his eyes, the morning sunlight streaming through the curtains as he blinked away sleep. As he shifted in bed and stretched his tired muscles, a sense of unease washed over him. Something was off. He glanced to his side, expecting to see Kiara's peaceful face, but the spot next to him was empty.
Panic welled up within Lycan as he sat up, clutching the covers tightly. He quickly scanned the room, half-expecting to find Kiara hidden somewhere, ready to surprise him. But she was nowhere to be found. His heart began to race as he stumbled out of bed and grabbed his phone.
Dialing Kiara's number, Lycan listened to the sound of the ringtone echoing in the empty room. No answer. He tried again, this time letting it ring until it went to voicemail. Something was wrong. Kiara never left her phone behind. It was like a physical attachment to her.
