Chapter 1 - All In One Night

"Briiiiii." The dishes made a cracking as they fell to the floor and Kiara's heart almost jumped out from her chest as she knew that she had gotten herself into a whole lot of trouble.

The Chief chef stared at her with a glare hanging on her face as she advanced toward Kiara and slapped her hard on the face.

"You fool, what have you done?" She shot at Kiara with a frown hanging on her face.

"I am very sorry ma'am, I was trying to.." Kiara wanted to say but she would not allow her to spit out a single word out of her mouth.

"Apart from the fact that you are so strange and you don't have a mate or a wolf, do you also have to be clumsy?" She shot at Kiara and she advanced slowly toward Kiara as her fangs showed and  she shivered hard with fear.

"I think that she is one of those humans that somehow slipped into the werewolf's pack and was adopted." She heard one of Kiara's colleagues saying.

"Oh my. That means that her parents are not telling her the truth about who she is. I think she should go and ask them." The chef shot at her.

"Except they are dead, so sad." Another said and they all broke into laughter.

Kiara could not stand it anymore as she ran out from the kitchen as fast as she could to the basement. She could feel her heart beating hard against her chest as though it was going to burst through.

Kiara fell to the floor and fresh tears poured down from her eyes.

This was not the first time that she was being mocked for being a jerk and mateless. Ever since she clocked eighteen, she hasn't been able to sense her wolf.

And to crown it all, she was just an orphan and they could make a mess out of her life.

But it wasn't always like this. Kiara was once a glorified lady, surrounded with splendor and even commanded ladies to do her bidding just at the snap of a finger.

But just in one night, all that was taken away from her.

Fresh tears poured down from her eyes as she laid on the floor and recalled what they would call, not only the darkest moment of her life but also that of the pack.

It all happened in one night, more like a blink of an eye.

The pack was under attack once again but this time it was different because the attackers were gradually gaining ground and the pack was losing.

Kiara stayed in her room in the pack house trembling with fear while her mom held her tightly in her arms.

"Don't worry. It will all be over soon." She whispered into her ears and she nodded her head.

"Mom, what about dad? Is he going to be safe?" She Inquired and she nodded her head but the fear written all over her face betrayed her words and she knew for sure that something was off.

But just then, Kiara heard a loud bang from the door and she turned around to see who it was only to discover that it was her father and there was so much rising urgency written all over his face.

"What's happening?" Her mother inquired turning over to him swiftly.

"I have to take you guys out of this place as soon as possible. They have killed almost everyone and the rest of the soldiers are trying to lead the others to hide safely, we have to leave right now." He said.

She could see the tears in her mother's eyes but this was not the time to cry. She had to be the strong Luna that she was.

She brought Kiara out to the point where she stood and carried her over in her arms as they both stepped out of the pack house to only god knows where.

But something really strange happened while they were still trying to escape, they heard a loud cry from behind.

It was a little child and he was so frightened that he could barely walk. Kiara's hands were shaking already and something inside of her told her that something was off there but what it was she could not tell.

"Oh shit. I told those god damn guards to get everyone out while I go get you guys." Her father yelled.

He knew that he was the Alpha of the pack and he had to protect every single member of the pack.

"I have to go get him and take him along." He said to Kiara's Mom and she nodded her head without spitting out a single word from her mouth.

He ran over to him swiftly to get him out from there but before he could finish pulling him off, three rogues jumped on him and stared at him with a glare.

Kiara's heart almost jumped out of her chest and she could barely breathe. Noticed that her father was trying to shift into his wolf but they didn't give him any  breathing space to do it.

Then her mom stared at her and ran her hands through her hair. "I will have to go now but I promise that I will come back for you. But the one thing that you have to do now is run as fast as you can and make sure that you do not stop running." She whispered into Kiara's ear and she shivered hard with fear.

"But." She wanted to say but her mother would not allow her to spit out a single word from her mouth as she held her hands to her lips.

"No buts, just do as I say." She said to Kiara and she dropped her to the floor and shifted into her wolf, ready to save the life of the Alpha as the Luna of the pack.

Kiara stared at her walking away from her and her life as if that was the last time that she was ever going to see her mom.
