Chereads / Valkron's Vampire God / Chapter 22 - The Return[1]-Crazy Old Man

Chapter 22 - The Return[1]-Crazy Old Man

Inside what seemed to be a medieval Dungeon, an elderly man, seemingly around his sixties, yelled out...

"Why!?Why!?Why!? Why!? Why!? Why!?...."

The old man who was already pulling out his white long hair, continued repeating the only word, "Why?" It was not clear why, but...

With his trembling voice and body, and his crazed eyes, it was clear what the man was feeling... FEAR.

Continuing with the pulling of his hair, A young boy wearing a white robe with golden outlines, and ancient runes embedded on it, walked in to see his master going crazy.

"Ma-MASTER!!!... What are you doing!?" He yelled, rushing to his master's side.

"What's wrong? why are you like this?"

Hearing his young apprentice's voice, The old man turned to him, and in the next moment, he approached him, his steps out of balance.

Tripping over some small objects over here and there, The old ignored everything as if they didn't even exist.

After reaching his now terrified apprentice, He held him tight in both his shaking arms and his eyes stared at the young boy half his height.

The old man's mouth trembled, ready to say something, but...

it couldn't.

"M-master... What's wrong!?"

Once again, hearing the boy's voice, The old man bit his lower lip, and only seconds later, was his hoarse voice heard.

"T-Their.. bac...k" The old man's voice continued to break every time he said something, but still...

...he pushed himself to finish his statement.

"The.. R-Remanents have returned!"

The boy's eyes shrunk the moment he heard his master's words, His body shivered and he too, had a trembling mouth.

"W-what!?" The boy looked at his master once more, when a thought ran quickly inside his head.

'Master has gone.... crazy... right?'

"One of them has appeared near the kingdom," His Master said, shaking the boy furiously. "Quickly, pack your bags, we must leave this Kingdom as quickly as possible!"

Say that, The old man let go of the boy and rushed to a drawer at the corner of the room.

Seeing this, the boy's thought repeated itself once more, but this time, it was followed by the boy's meek voice...

"Tha-That's not possible!!" The boy yelled out, shaking his head aggressively."H-how many years has it been... Why...Why...Why would one of them appear now?"

Denial was apparent in the young boy's words...

...The old man must be lying, he thought, Maybe he finally lost all his marbles, but...

...but with how he was, why would this old geezer lie?

"Master, We have to warn the" Just as he was about to finish his sentence, His Master, the one who seemed to have lost all sense of reason, was, for some reason, already packing his bags.

His clothes, Research, Tools, and Potions, all these things were thrown into a small bag, but miraculously they all went in without a Hitch.

"Master!?" The Apprentice moved closer to his-ready to leave-master, "Wh-where are you going?"

Ignoring his apprentice's question, The old man after taking all that he thought was important, wore a strange glove around his left hand.

"Master, What are you doing!?"

With a snap from his left hand, A magic circle appeared on the floor under the old man, "Getting as far away from here as possible!!"

Without his previously crazy glare, the old man disappeared from his position.

"M-master!?" The boy was at a loss for words, His Master, one of the greatest magi-casters In the entire kingdom, just ran away.

Who would blame him, but still...

As the boy was busy trying to put together the events that had just unfolded, A map, a precious one at that, suddenly glowed in a red huge light, catching the boy's attention.

The map was casually laid on top of the table, And moving towards this table, The boy wondered how the old man could've forgotten such a rare item just like that.

Soon the boy reached the table, and just like that, his body trembled.

Clenching his fist, He now understood why his master had run away.

At that moment, he too wanted to do the same, but...

He tightly bit his lips and quickly rolled the map.

Running out of the dungeon, the boy made his way out of the darkroom through the only exit possible, the spiral stairs that led upstairs.

As soon as he was out of the dungeon, he was blinded by small rays of sunlight coming from the floor-to-roof widows at his right side, but he ignored them and dashed through the hallway with similar windows, with some space between them.

Not caring about the couple of times he almost fell over, He soon reached his destination.

At the end of the hallway, A Giant Golden Door could be seen, and each side of the door was guarded by a soldier in full-body iron armor with ancient golden, red, and purple runes embedded on them.

Seeing The Young boy approaching, One of the guards put away the Lion flag he had been holding onto and took out his sword.

The guard moved forward, ready to confront the boy he thought was an enemy.

Ready to attack the boy at any moment, The guard quickly withdrew his sword after only seeing the boy's robes.

"Sir Gordon!!" The soldier called out while bowing in respect to the young man.

Hearing his partner calling out the boy's name, the other guard quickly pushed open the giant door behind him.

With the pace of the young boy, it was clear that he had something important to report.

Seeing the response of the two Guards, Gordon, as he was called, quietly thanked them in his heart as he rushed passed the door.

"Your Majesty!!" He shouted, and only a few steps after entering, he fell to the ground, bowing.

Guordon's voice echoed inside the large hall, catching the eyes of all who were gathered there.

The huge hall which seemed to be bigger than a field, had a row of similar armored soldiers as the two guards outside on each side.

The never-moving soldiers only glanced towards Guordon's direction through their helmets.

Seconds later, their gazes returned to their previous state.

From the door Guordon had just entered through, A long red carpet stretched to the other end of the hall.

This was where the king, in his big golden majestic throne, sat.

In front of the king, a few noblemen and women were in front of him, each discussing their issues, but that stopped once Guordon entered.

And At each side of the king, Stood two peerless beauties, both wearing red dresses that outlined their figures perfectly.

The two women had delicate faces, with black hair flowing on one shoulder, while the other had short blonde hair.

Their eyes, which seemed to have been closed for a while, opened at the boy's entrance, strange eyes the two had, they didn't have any irises.

After seeing, or sensing who was in front of the king, their eyes once again closed.

"Gordon," The king, with his calm yet terrifying voice called out, "What has caused you to be In such a rush?"
