With the sound of police sirens growing louder, I quickly made my way through the dark and rain-soaked streets. My mind was still in turmoil, trying to grasp the reality of the situation I found myself in. Memories from two different lives clashed in my mind, and the loss of my Quirk only added to the confusion.
I have to find answers... I thought to myself. Maybe this Batman guy knows something, or at least he might be able to help me understand what's going on.
As I walked, the city's nightlife quickly died down as I moved farther from the main areas, with the only sound being the rain hitting the pavement. Everything was dark, and there were very few signs of life in the street. Occasionally, I'd see a few homeless people sitting around a campfire, under small sheds trying to stay warm in the cold night. A couple of times, I thought I saw a cat walking around, but it was gone before I could get a proper look.
Just keep going, I told myself. I need to find a place to stay the night.
After a while, I spotted a tall building and decided to check it out. It seemed abandoned and probably safe, so I made my way to the front entrance.
There was no door, so I walked inside. Hopefully, there won't be any goons inside.
It was a very basic and empty lobby, with a couple of couches and a coffee table. There were a few windows, but they were all boarded up, so the room was completely dark. But thanks to my Vision Quirk, I was able to see clearly even in the darkness. There was a stairway leading up. I decided to go up.
As I climbed the stairs, my mind was filled with questions. Why was I here? How did I end up like this? Why was my main Quirk gone?
The most pressing issue, of course, was my Quirk. It was supposed to be a passive skill/Quirk. It remains active all the time, so, that faceless fucker can't be responsible for my situation, then... It had to be someone else. Or, maybe he found a way to counter my power. Whatever it is, I desperately need some answers.
Up the stairs, the sound of the rain faded, replaced by the drip, drip, dripping of water from the ceiling. I noticed that the floor and walls were wet and covered with mold. I found a small dry corner and sat down.
It was late, and my body was tired, so I tried to rest for a bit. My head was in a jumbled mess, and my memories were still mixed. It's like two people were trying to tell their own version of events. I couldn't figure out what was true or not.
I didn't have any memories of the woman I'd seen in my earlier memories. But it feels like she is the missing piece of the puzzle. I don't know how to explain it.
I looked around the room, checking if there was anything else to look at, but all I found was the dust and the darkness.
There's nothing here. The condition of this place is so bad that even the homeless avoid this place. Oh, well... It's better than standing in the rain. My clothes are soaking wet, and I need to get something to cover me up.
I looked around, but all I could find was an old chair, a broken bed, and a few blankets. I grabbed one of the blankets and wrapped it around me after taking off my wet clothes. Fuck! It smells like shit! It's gonna take me forever to get rid of the smell. Damn it! I am going to make whoever put me in this situation pay...
I sat back down, leaning against the wall. The silence and darkness slowly enveloped me. The only sound I could hear was the pitter-patter of the rain outside. My eyes fell on an old piece of newspaper, lying on the ground. I picked it up and started to read it. It was a local paper, and it was dated 2/8/2023. The date is the same as my previous world. But the place...
"Gotham City!?" I don't remember there was any place like that in my previous world. The name seems familiar, but I can't seem to remember.
The name makes me think of a cartoon, or some comic book. Batman! That's the name of the vigilante I met before. The name 'Gotham City' sounds familiar, but I can't seem to remember where I heard it.
As I kept reading the paper, I came across an article about a master thief who call herself Catwoman. She has been making her way around Gotham, stealing expensive jewelry and other items from rich people. I can't help but laugh at the description of her, "Her most famous theft is the infamous Cat Suit, made by some famous company. It is a black leather suit, that not only protects her skin, but it also features cat-like qualities."
"Cat-like qualities, huh? The suit looks pretty badass and her ass looks amazing. Haha!" I mumbled to myself, thinking of the suit's owner.
I read the rest of the paper, searching for any other information about the mysterious Catwoman, but found none. There is this news that caught my eye. A cure for cancer is being tested in some institutes and the one funding the experiment is known as Lex Corp. So far, they have saved fifty people suffering from the last stage, during their first trial phase. The article mentions that the cure will be available at a very low price and will be available soon.
I laughed as I read the article, "Very low price? What a joke! Those bastards always sell it to the highest bidder. It's just a way for them to earn some money. Those guys have billions, if not trillions, of dollars, and they will continue to make their profits no matter what."
I threw the newspaper aside and leaned my head against the wall. My body was starting to feel sleepy.
"The weather is cold but it's a nice night. Maybe I can sleep a little..."
I closed my eyes, hoping to get some rest. I need to get my Quirk back as soon as possible and a way to get back to my real world.
As I closed my eyes, I tried to clear my mind of all the confusion and conflicting memories. Sleep was a welcome escape from the chaos inside my head. But even in my dreams, the memories haunted me.
In my dream, I saw flashes of the battle with All For One—the intensity of our clashes, the fear of losing, the determination to protect the people I cared about. It felt so real, as if I was reliving those moments. But then, the memories shifted, and I found myself standing on the rooftop again, with that mysterious girl I couldn't fully see.
"I just want to see him again," she said, her voice echoing in my mind.
Then with a gust of wind, the scenario changed. She is now standing before the grave of Travis Evans.
"They found a cure for cancer... If only they were a bit fast..." She spoke with a glint of sadness in her voice.
So, it would seem that the owner of this body died of cancer. It's strange how these memories feel so vivid and real. Are they truly my own, or are they remnants of the person whose body I now inhabit? I couldn't be sure.
Shit! I have a rough idea of what's going on. If I am not wrong, then both of these memories belong to me, just like the name.
Suddenly, I felt myself falling, but it wasn't the sensation of my body hitting the ground that I experienced when I woke up in this strange world. It was more like falling through memories, the images of my previous life rushing by like a torrent.

[Restoring memories]
I think I heard a faint voice... Oh, well...
As I drifted into the sea of memories, I felt a strange sensation, as if my mind was being rewired. Flashes of moments, emotions, and experiences rushed through me, filling in the gaps and connecting the two sets of memories. My true identity was finally becoming clear.
[Memories restored]
I awoke with a gasp, my heart pounding in my chest. The memories of both Travis Evans and Sarah flooded my mind, merging together into a cohesive whole. I understood now—I was both of them, connected in a way that transcended time and space.
"I'm... I'm Travis Evans," I whispered to myself, trying to comprehend the gravity of this revelation. "And Sarah... She was my love, my soulmate. I died of cancer, and she made a wish to bring me back."
I remember everything, now, including everything she spoke in front of my grave for all those years. But, fuck! This is bad.
"What did you do to me, Sarah?" I murmured, my emotions in turmoil. "Why did you wish for me to come back? Did you know what it would cost?"
