I stepped out of the bathroom while letting out a long and relieved sigh. "Phew… Now that was a good bath." I said to myself as I flopped down onto the bed, taking a sip of the chocolate milkshake I had in my hand.
Ring! Ring!
All of a sudden, my phone started to ring, and I shifted my gaze towards the desk where I had left it.
Walking over to the desk, I picked up the phone and glanced at the screen, checking the caller ID before answering. "Hello?"
"Yo, what's up dude?" Darren's energetic voice echoed from the other end of the line. "You're not in the middle of doing anything, right?"
I raised an eyebrow, confused by his question, but nevertheless replied, "Yeah, no, I'm free. Why'd you ask?"
"Well, listen, dude.." Darren's voice was heard through the call, but it was drowned out by a sudden blast of music.
"Whoa, whoa, slow down," I interrupted, struggling to hear him. "Dude! Are you at a club or something, because I can't hear you properly! There's too much noise in the background!"
"Gimme.. a second.." Darren's loud voice could be heard through the music, and after a short pause, the music faded into the background, as though Darren had walked away from the source of the noise. He then asked, "Yeah, how about now?"
"Okay, I can hear you now." I confirmed, before asking once more, "Are you at a nightclub?"
"Uh, yeah, dude." Darren's excitement was palpable. "It's this new place called Moonlight on Evan's Street. You've got to swing by, man. I mean, they've got cheap drinks and all that shit. Plus, it's an awesome vibe."
"I don't know, man.." I hesitated for a moment. "I mean, we did get kicked out of a club just last week, remember?"
"Yeah, so?" Darren responded, sounding confused by my hesitation. "Just 'cause we got caught that one time doesn't mean it's going to happen again, you know? Don't be such a buzzkill, bro! And besides, the whole gang's here, man!"
"Wait, seriously? Everyone's there?" I asked, my eyebrows shooting up in surprise, and Darren's voice came through the phone with enthusiasm. "Yeah, dude! Even Mike's back. It's just you who's missing out, bro."
I sighed and rubbed my forehead, debating silently while biting my lips. "I don't know, man. I don't think I'm in the right headspace to drink tonight, you know?"
I mean, I was a vampire for only a few days now. I have no idea what kind of effect alcohol might have on me. What if I get too drunk and end up going on some bloodthirsty rampage?
But then again, Anthony and Pamela did mention that vampire genetics doesn't actually transform you into a bloodthirsty monster. So maybe I could join for just one drink-
"No, no.." I shook my head, battling my desire for a fun night out with my newfound sense of responsibility. "Nah, man, I'm sorry.." I said regretfully. "But I'm gonna have to pass this time."
"You serious, dude?" Darren's voice sounded disappointed. "Alright, I mean, it's your call at the end of the day, buddy. But if you do happen to change your mind, just remember to bring your fake ID. And tell them you're Jared Leon's friend. That's the fake name I gave them. Bouncer's in the know. Alright, talk to you later, man."
"Later dude," And with that, the conversation was over. I glanced at the display of the phone and let out a sigh before placing it back on the desk and walking away.
I'm not gonna lie, a part of me still longed to hit up that nightclub. Darren did mention that the beers were really cheap, and if Darren, the stingiest guy in our group is vouching for that, then it definitely has to be really cheap. That or he had some crazy luck and won the lottery.
And yet, as tempting as the idea was to go out and get drunk, I knew that as an undercover vampire cop(temporary), I had a responsibility to not get into situations that might put the super confidential mission that I had been assigned at risk-
"Mooom!" I exclaimed loudly as I threw on my jacket and made my way out of the house. "I'm headed to Darren's for a sleepover!"
... Yeah, I know, alright? I caved pretty quickly. But in my defense, I did try.
I fished out my phone and immediately dialed Darren's number as soon as I stepped outside. The device pressed to my ear, I mumbled under my breath, "Come on.. pick up, pick up..."
"...Yo, what's up, my guy?" Darren's voice crackled through the line, and I blurted out, "Yeah bro, I was wondering, can you send me the exact location of the nightclub you're at?"
--------------------------
A few minutes and three bottles of beer later..
"Whoo!" I exclaimed loudly, raising my beer glass triumphantly, only to have Darren quickly muffle my mouth, his suppressed laughter filling the air. "Shut- shut up, dude.. shhhh… you're gonna get us kicked out again… Nnnn."
"I seriously don't get why you two just choose to drink beer every single time.." Carl remarked, taking a tequila shot and wincing dramatically. "Gyyatt! That shit burns like hell!"
"I mean, they are still underage, you know.." Eric, a young man wearing a white shirt and a red cap, shrugged his shoulders in response, before taking a sip from his whiskey glass.
"So? They can't legally drink beer either." Issac, a thin and frail looking guy with glasses, shook his head as he grabbed one of the chicken nuggets and tossed it right into his mouth.
"Alright! That's enough, guys.." I replied with a drunk smile on my face. "We like to drink beer because we like it, and that's it… You feel me?"
Hey, I managed to get through the sentence without tripping over my words. Now that's an achievement!
"I just expected more from my juniors.." Mike, another young man who wore a white t-shirt and had the appearance of an athlete, let out a sigh before downing another glass of vodka.
These four guys were my seniors in high school last year. We were all pretty close last year, but then the four of them graduated highschool and went off to separate colleges. We did hang out afterwards a few times, but not nearly as much as we used to do in the past.
"So, Felix.." Mike said as he grabbed a bottle of vodka and began pouring himself another shot. "I heard from Darren that you got yourself a girlfriend. A transfer student or something?"
"What?!" I exclaimed, and for a moment, I felt like I was sober again. "N-No! I just walked her home. D- Dat's itz.."
Ah, fuck. I'm slurring my words. Goddamn it!
"Oooh.." The four men murmured in unison, and I rolled my eyes in response. "That's nothin sp- special, a'ight?"
"It's her first day, and she chose you to walk her home?" Issac let out a snort as he pushed his glasses back onto his nose. "That's gotta mean something, man."
"Nothing's goin to happn with her.. nothinggg.." I shook my head before suddenly leaping up ontp my feet, and then pointed my finger at the restroom. "Imma go an take a piss. Aight?"
"Yeah sure, bud.." Mike waved his hands before downing his shot. "Gyuhhh! You want someone to come with you?"
"What, to hol' my 11 inch zword? Nyoo Danks.." I shook my head with a drunk grin on my face before turning around and heading towards the restroom.
"Ugh!" I groaned as I opened the door and entered the restroom, and the bright light inside immediately made me squint my eyes and groan again. "Gah! Fuck, dats bright!"
I rubbed my eyes before entering one of the empty bathroom stalls, locking it and opened the lid of the toilet seat.
Ring! Ring!
It was right at this moment that I'd get a call on my smartphone, which made my ears perk up.
Now, I could've just ignored the ringing and instead continued my business. And given my unfortunate situation, that would've been the best course of action.
However, I wasn't, let's say, in the right mind at the time, and as a result..
"Y'ello?" I answered the call and placed the phone in between my ear and my shoulder.
"Is this.. Felix Wilczek?" The voice on the other side asked, and I raised an eyebrow before responding, "Yea, who dis?"
"Oh thank god!" Rocky let out a sigh of relief as he gave a thumbs up to the group of high-schoolers, and everyone cheered loudly.
"Yeah bitch! We got him!"
"It's been, what, like four hours since we started this?"
"Fuck, I just wanna go home and eat something!"
Jay, who was holding a phonebook in his hands, leaned back onto the wall and wiped the tears from his eyes. "Finally," He murmured softly, loosening his grip on the phonebook, which fell down onto the ground. "I'm free.."
I, who had no idea what the fuck was going on on the other line, was now even more confused. "Hellowww?" I asked once again, and Rocky answered. "Oh shit! Yeah-Yeah! Sorry about that. I'm Rocky, you see. The uh, boss of the, second tier of Trilokas."
"Un?" I mumbled something incoherently. Rocky continued, "Yeah, so um, I'm call to ask you about the incident involving you and Rafael earlier today."
Rafael? I raised my eyebrows and tried to remember, in my drunken state of mind. "Oh yeah.." I replied with a nod, although he couldn't see me nodding. "I 'member. He tried to beat up mah friens… So I beat em up."
"Oh? Is that what happened?" Rocky asked, and he turned around to look at Jay, who shrugged his shoulders. I once again nodded my head in response. "Yea-huh.." After which I pulled my zipper down and took out my 11.5 inch 'Excalibur' and began aiming at the toilet bowl, my eyes squinting and my gaze serious.
"Alright, if he really did try to attack your friends, then that's a fair response.." Rocky replied, glancing back at Jay, who gave two thumbs up. "But I do hope that next time, you bring such matters to the Trilokas first. Do you understand, Felix?"
Swoosh!
As soon as he finished speaking, a stream of liquid shot out from my excalibur. But since I was extremely drunk at the time, my aim wasn't all that good, and as a result, the stream of liquid hit the wall behind the toilet bowl, and I screamed, "OH, FUCK NO!"
"What?" Rocky's eyes widened with shock and surprise as he heard my response. The other high schoolers seemed shocked at the response as well, and they began whispering amongst each other. "You're telling me that you won't agree to the rules of Trilokas?" Rocky asked, his expression completely serious.
Right as he was saying this, I readjusted my aim and focused my excalibur back onto the toilet bowl, and the stream of liquid shot down at the intended target, and I let out another scream. "YEAH! That's right!"
"Who the hell does this kid think he is?" Jay murmured under his breath. He then took a glance at Rocky, who seemed like he wanted to beat someone up.
".... Phew.." Rocky let out a long sigh, after which, he responded. "I would like to have a chat with you tomorrow, Felix." He said, and the entire group of high schoolers went silent. "It seems I'll have to teach you what it means to be part of Trilokas."
At the same time, my excalibur had completed ejecting out the liquids, and I went, "That's it?"
"Yeah, that's it." Rocky replied while gritting his teeth. "I'll see you tomorrow." He said, after which he hung up the phone.
I inserted my excalibur back into my underwear and pulled my zipper back up, walked out of the stall and washed my hands, after which I grabbed my phone, only to realize that the call had been hung up.
"Huh.." I muttered to myself, not remembering when the caller had hung up the call. "Who ev-even was dat?"
Oh well, probably nothing important, right?
