These two islands are not the only thing I found on the map, there was a massive landmass at the center of the map, If I were to compare it to the earth equivalent it is big as or even slightly bigger than the continent of Africa.
There were a few names written on that landmass as well, the continent Terranova, the port city Aurora, and the human capital Neopolis.
I considered the possibility of visiting Terranova in the future, but for now, my focus was on leaving this cursed island.
After collecting all the necessary items, I returned to the Supply boat, started its engine, and carefully concealed it within the Sea Cave. With that done, I headed back to the NS Scorpion, preparing to continue my journey aboard the submarine.
When I reached the beach cave it was almost night, let's get out of here before the mermen show up again.
As I re-entered NS Scorpion, I started the vessel and was met with the hum of electricity and the subtle vibrations of the vessel. I began to steer the vessel towards the southwest where another island marked with a skull was.
All of a sudden, the radar went haywire, sending a chill down my spine as I glanced at the screen. Thousands of blips were rapidly closing in. Could they be mermen?
*Bang*
The submarine suddenly began shaking violently, as though it had been struck by a massive force. It was clear that the mermen had no intention of letting me go; they relentlessly attacked the submarine with their hydro cannons.
*Bang*
The violent shaking continued.
"Rex buddy, are you ok?"
I look at Rex he seems to find but a little afraid
*Whimper*
"Don't worry Rex, we'll survive this just like how we did until now."
When I took a look at the radar they were clustered together and were approaching fast, the only thing that is attacking us now is their ranged hydro cannon.
Fine if that's how they want to play, I have a few water cannons of my own, and they were locked and loaded.
I aimed the torpedo and started launching them one by one. The torpedo made contact and then
*Boom*
Despite being unable to hear sounds underwater, I could still feel the vibrations caused by the torpedoes.
"It's just the beginning", I started to launch the other torpedos as well.
*Boom*
*Boom*
*Boom*
The other three torpedoes hit their marks, and the number of blips on the radar began to rapidly decrease. Although I could continue fighting from this position, I couldn't afford to stay in this battle indefinitely. If the mermen somehow managed to close the distance between us, it would undoubtedly lead to my end.
With the mermen still in pursuit, I decided to increase the vessel's speed. Anticipating their persistence, I readied the remaining two torpedoes. Waiting until they drew closer, I launched another torpedo toward them.
*Boom*
"Got 'em!" I exclaimed. The blips that had shown up on the radar started to disappear one by one. It seemed like I had successfully managed to lose them and shake them off, evading their pursuit.
After successfully evading their pursuit, I decided to temporarily halt the vessel and assess the damage. Upon inspection, it appeared that the damage wasn't too severe.
*Woof woof*
Rex's bark got my attention and I looked at him, he was looking at something and was barking for some reason. I decided to have a look at it, this thing resembled a 3D printer but it was totally different. I have never seen something like this, it's almost like it's out of this world.
Wait, this is not Earth! Does that mean it's a technology from this world? The possibility is quite high for now I don't want to mess with something I have no idea of.
Because it's in a nuclear submarine, I am pretty sure it's dangerous. I have already lost enough of my body parts. Still, why don't I take a tour of NS Scorpion?
As I explored the submarine, I encountered several closed doors. My attempts to open them were in vain, as they appeared to be locked. I wondered where I might find the keys to these doors.
Having served in the Navy, I remembered that those assigned to specific tasks usually held the keys to relevant rooms. After completing their duties, they would return the keys to the locker room keyboard.
The only exception will be the Captain, wait captain? I just remembered getting some key from Captain Francis, I think I kept it inside the bag.
I started rummaging through the bag and I found it, I tried using different keys on a door and one of them fits in perfectly I opened it and it was the reactor room. This is where the nuclear-powered engine is at.
Usually, you have few people taking care of different parts of the submarine like the electrician, helmsman, radarmen, torpedo men sonarmen, etc
Just like that, there would be a few people who will manage the reactor room as well, this is basically the heart of the submarine.
From my time in the Navy, I have learned a few things about the reactor room, so I will give it a general checkup to see if everything is alright.
After a few minutes of going through the reactor room, everything seems normal, I even bought the Geiger counters from the torpedo bay to check for any radiation leakage luckily there was none.
For now, I should go and find the locker room keyboard and find the other spare key and after that, I will have something to eat and will take some rest today.
I started looking through other doors, I found more guns, ammunition, food, explosives, etc. Ohh… what's this there was a small room that was somewhat different from the other rooms.
It looks like a private quarter. Usually, you will have bunk beds for the crew so the only person who has a private quarter is the captain. This must be Captain Francis's room.
As I searched the room, I discovered an old photograph featuring a man, a woman, and their two children – a boy and a girl. It was evident that this was Captain Francis's family portrait, with the man himself being the father in the image.
In the photo, Captain Francis appeared to be incredibly happy, and the whole family was captured with joyful smiles. It made me wonder about their fate – what could have happened to them? How did the children feel when they learned that their father was missing in action?
On the contrary, Captain Francis never had the chance to witness his children's growth. Instead of being with his family, he was thrust into this wicked world. It made me wonder whether I might face a similar fate.
Will I remain trapped here until my death? What will become of my parents? Well, with my brother still on Earth, I'm confident he'll take good care of them. Nevertheless, the prospect of being stranded here until my end fills me with sorrow.
Is there a way for me to return to Earth? If such a possibility exists, I'm determined to search for it. It's not an absolute necessity for me to go back, as I only have a small circle of friends there, aside from my family.
I live alone, and I don't have any significant responsibilities besides taking care of Rex. As I glanced at Rex, he appeared puzzled. With Rex by my side and the NS Scorpion at my disposal, I suppose it wouldn't be a bad idea to further explore this world.
I'm beginning to feel hungry, so let's go have some food. As I was about to leave, something caught my attention – it was a military trunk. Oh, I still haven't seen this one.
I opened the trunk and found thousands of coins inside. They were made of a unique metal that had a blue color. I've never seen a metal like this before. Could this be the currency of this world? And what type of metal is it?
Why did Captain Francis have such a significant amount of money? Ohh... right, he wasn't alone like me; he had a crew. So, I suppose this could be their treasury or something similar.
Well, for now, let's eat and get some rest. Afterward, I'll head to the island marked with a skull, and then I'm planning to explore the continent of Terranova and visit the port city of Aurora.
…..
I work up from my sleep, yesterday after dinner I slept at the captain's quarters. I stopped the NS Scorpion before I went to bed because I don't want to accidentally run into something.
*Woof*
Rex's bark got my attention, looks like he woke up as well.
"Good morning, Rex. Did you sleep well last night?"
I greeted him and I stepped out of the bed.
*Crash*
Ahh… I stumbled and fell down; the new makeshift pegleg is making it difficult to walk, and it feels quite strange to move with it.
*Woof! Woof!*
Looks like Rex is worried
"Don't worry buddy, I am fine. Can you go and fetch me that Mermen spear?"
He hurried out of the room and brought me the spear from the helm room. I'm still not accustomed to the pegleg, and getting back up after falling without any support is definitely a challenge.
I took the spear from Rex and used it as a support to help me stand up. "Well, that was a great way to start a day," I said sarcastically.
…..
After freshening up and having breakfast, we're now heading towards the island marked with a skull on the map.
Suddenly, the radar alerted me with a ping, indicating an object on its screen. I immediately stopped the vessel and used the periscope to inspect the surrounding waters.
It was an island, is this the island marked with a skull? Wait a minute, this island looks familiar for some reason, then I noticed a few boats docked at the island wait isn't that the yacht that brought us to this world?
Wait a minute, isn't this the cannibal's island?
