*Huff Huff*
I was struggling to breathe, the smell of my burning flesh heavy in the air. The pain was intense, and I felt like I could faint at any moment. The choice I had made was dangerous, but it was necessary.
If I hadn't done this, I could have bled to death or gotten an infection. In an odd twist, this extreme action had an unexpected benefit: the heat from the fire sterilized my severed arm, and somehow, the wound closed up a bit as well.
*Woof Woof*
Many islanders tried to approach me but Rex kept them at bay, thanks to him I could organize my thoughts. I should try to get away from this island as quickly as possible.
I looked around for the boats we had arrived in, and luckily, they were parked nearby. I knew I could reach them quickly in a short run. Now, the challenge was to escape from these people and reach one of the boats.
Among the three boats we had come in, the best option seemed to be the supply boat. It still had plenty of supplies inside, which would be useful. The Yacht was the worst choice because taking it wouldn't offer any benefits.
I noticed the bag I had prepared earlier, and I remembered there were some liquor bottles inside. I reached for the bag and started searching for one of those bottles.
"Found it! Rex come back here"
*Woof*
I called Rex to come back to me. He grabbed the bloodied axe of the big guy so that the islanders couldn't use it against us. Seeing Rex retreating they started to approach us. I threw the liquor bottle on the bonfire.
*Whoosh*
Suddenly the fire flared up.
"Rex, now run to the supply boat"
The flared-up fire scared the islanders they retreated, me and Rex using this opportunity started running for the boat.
We reached the boat and went straight to the cockpit luckily no one took the key to the boat we started the boat. The engine roared and came to life. I accelerated the boat and it started moving forward, then I heard a noise, so I went to check it. It looks like some islanders managed to get on the boat there were around three of them
The natives yelled in a strange language as they began to approach me slowly, steadily. I waved my machete around in the air but quickly realized that my wild display had only served to encourage them, to make them approach me faster. I could see them salivating as they eyed me like a chunk of meat.
Realizing the machete would not work, I quickly grabbed a liquor bottle and threw it at them. It exploded in the middle one's face, blinding him and cutting his eyes
*Ahaaa*
I rapidly seized my machete and swung it with every ounce of strength at him. The blade met his chest and stomach, inflicting a deep, agonizing wound. In a powerful motion, I followed up with a kick that propelled him overboard into the ocean.
While I was dealing with him, the other two attackers tried to approach me, but Rex, holding the axe in his mouth, lunged at one of them. The axe hit the man's feet, causing a severe injury and making him scream out in pain as he fell onto his accomplice.
Ahaaa*
The remaining attackers were still pinned down by their fallen friend. I grabbed my machete and struck the one under the fallen man, cutting off a few of his fingers. He dropped his weapon, and I kicked it away.
As he struggled to get up, the attacker who was wounded by Rex who was still on the ground tried to swing his weapon at me, but Rex intervened again. Rex's axe hit the attacker's head, splitting it open and ending his threat.
Witnessing their companions' deaths, the last remaining attacker started to lose his confidence. I seized the moment and swung my machete one last time, delivering the final blow.
*Huff Huff*
I was gasping for air, now both of them are dead. I pushed those two into the ocean. There was blood everywhere, I decided to ignore it for now and walked away from the blood, and sat down Rex came to me and whimpered
*Whimper*
"Hahaha don't worry boy, I am fine just very tired"
I was very exhausted both physically and mentally I just laid down and looked at the sky.
"Haa… The Moons look beautiful"
Wait, Moons! I rubbed my eyes and saw it again. There were not one but three moons in the sky. A sense of dread came over me and I felt a chill over my back all this time when we were not on earth to begin with then that explains all the bizarre creatures that we saw and the cannibals as well. I looked at Rex and said.
"Rex, What have we got ourselves into?"
…
It was morning now, and after last night's discovery I was left very exhausted so we went inside and decided to sleep for now. Actually, I found a pocket watch in one of the boat drawers, it was not that important but I couldn't at least see the time now although I am not sure how accurate it will be because we are not on earth anymore.
*Woof*
"Good morning Rex"
*Woof*
I took a look at the watch it was around 7 in the morning, before going to sleep yesterday I decided to stop the boat to save fuel now after having something to eat I am planning to start the boat again although I have no idea where we are or is there even anything nearby.
I went to the deck to take a look outside. What greeted me was something I was not happy with. We were very close to one of those colossal whales, suddenly it started moving and it created huge waves on the ocean with every move. The boats started to shake violently.
I quickly went to the cockpit and started the engine and pushed the accelerator but the shaking was starting to get more violent and then my leg slipped and I hit my head hard on something and passed out.
…
*Woof! Woof! Woof!*
I jolted awake, gasping for breath. My head throbbed, Aha.. my head hurts a lot
*Whimper*
Rex's whimper got my attention. He was looking worried.
"Were you worried about me boy? Don't worry I am fine"
I patted his head to reassure him. It looks like Rex was trying to wake me up. Then I noticed the watch in my pocket, I took a look at it and it was around 9:30, it looked like I had passed out for nearly three hours. And by the looks of it, Rex stayed by my side all this time. I patted his head again.
"At least I got you with me"
I got back on my feet, and a sharp ache reminded me of where I'd been hit. But that wasn't the only thing bothering me; my severed arm had started bleeding again, causing intense pain.
I found some alcohol and poured it on the wound before wrapping it with clean cloth. Trying to numb the pain, I took a swig of alcohol. Holding my head in my hand, I stepped outside to gather myself.
We had been traveling for hours without a break when I suddenly passed out. Our fuel was running low, and in that moment, something caught my eye. It was an island in the distance.
Honestly, the idea of going to that island made me nervous. But we didn't have any other choice – it was either face the unknown on the island or risk being stuck in the middle of the ocean.
"It looks like there is no other choice"
I went to the cockpit and strew the boat toward the island.
…
After a while, we arrived at the island. I stayed cautious, holding the machete, and Rex was holding onto his bloody axe in his mouth. Stepping off the boat, we started to explore the island carefully. There were coconut trees around, and I noticed a cave nearby.
I was curious, but I hesitated to go inside. Considering the unknown dangers of this world, I thought it wouldn't be surprising if a giant bear or lion attacked me as soon as I entered the cave. So, instead, I went back to the boat and gathered a few things: some clothes, oil, and a strong tree branch to make a makeshift torch.
Armed with the torch, I ventured into the cave again. To my surprise, it wasn't very deep, and sunlight was filtering in. Inside, I found three human skeletons and a small makeshift campsite.
There were beds, a table, a few chairs, and some military trunks. The skeletons were wearing military clothes. One was lying on a bed, another was sitting against the cave wall, and the third was slumped over the table. I couldn't help but wonder who they were and what had happened to them.
In the center of the cave, I noticed traces of an old bonfire, and lanterns hung on the walls. I decided to light the lanterns, which brightened up the darker corners of the cave. With a better view, I made a mental note to gather firewood for a bonfire later in the evening.
…..
After some time I gathered some firewood and managed to light all the lanterns in the cave.
*Grumble*
My stomach started grumbling, I was getting hungry, I took the watch to check for the time, It was around 12 I went back to the boat and gathered some things to cook and rummaged through the items to find some cooking utensils. I went back to the cave and started the bonfire and started cooking.
"Here you go, buddy"
*Woof*
After giving Rex some food, I also started eating. After eating, I decided to take a little nap, I bought some fresh bedsheets and blankets from the boat when I went to get food from the ship and went to one of the beds and used the fresh bedsheet on the top, for now I decides to ignore the skeletons and the military trunks as I was very tired from yesterday's ordeal.
