Su Yeon's POV
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to slap you." I apologized to the girl, "I didn't expect you to get back here again," I explained to her. The girl stopped crying and then looked at me.
"So you can see me," she said and then hauntingly snapped her neck, then I realized that I could hurt ghosts all of a sudden. So I composed myself and scoffed.
"And what about it? You can tell that I can also hurt you if you decide to do something bad to me," I reminded her then the girl sighed in defeat, "Why are you following me, by the way?" I asked her so that I could clarify one thing.
"You can help me, right?" She questioned me back, "You can see me, maybe you can help me know what happened to me." The ghost continued.
"What? Do you think I can just go places and ask about your death?" I retorted back, "What do I get back with this?" I inquired to the ghost.
"There's really nothing I can give you," She confessed, "I faintly remember seeing my mother being sick and my dad owning a small store." She recalled.
"A... store?" I wondered, and then my alarm cut my train of thought, "I'm so sorry, but I need to go first. We can continue talking later, okay?" I reassured her. The ghost only looked at me before disappearing into thin air. I wish I could help you, really, but I don't think it's in my power to do anything. I hope this small talk can help you a bit, I went into the temple first to light an incense and prayed for her. Although I don't believe in this matter, seeing how I can communicate with the dead is just one thing for me to confirm that I can see ghosts.
"Oh, Su Yeon, what are you doing here?" Mrs. Yang called for me, "You seem to be praying about someone who passed." She pointed out as I lighted a sandalwood incense,=.
"Good morning, Mrs. Yang," I greeted her, "I just... dreamt about someone," I lied to her, to which she nodded at my lie.
"It's a girl, isn't it?" She asked me.
"H-how did you know?" I stuttered.
"I may be a quack to you, but my family is a long line of shamans," she stated, "So it's easy for me to tell if someone or something is bothering you, Su Yeon." She smiled before lighting an incense.
"I'm sorry if I thought of you that way, Mrs. Yang," I said to her, "Since my memory is pretty much wiped out, I don't have any recollection of what I used to be," I mumbled as the incense burns in front of us.
"I don't blame you, Su Yeon, whatever might have happened to you on that day must be really painful to you to remember." Mrs. Yang sympathized, "Now, who are you praying for? Someone, you know?" She asked me, and I thought about it before shaking my head.
"I don't know her, but don't worry, Mrs. Yang," I reassured her with a smile before leaving, I hope this eased the spirit a bit.
15 minutes later...
It's a scam, she's here and still noisy. I rode the bus after leaving the temple but she saw me hopping in so she sat beside me. Though no one can see her sitting beside me, she pops in and out of the seats when no one sits down beside me.
"Why did you go to the temple?" She asked then her eyes darkened, " Are you trying to get rid of me?" I just gave her a look and she stopped immediately but the person in front of me suddenly felt scared because he thought I looked at him scarily. I stopped the bus 2 stations away because I didn't want to trouble anyone, so I walked my way to Gwang Industries. The girl still followed me and talked my ear off on the way.
"Why are you still here, is my prayer not even enough for you?" I asked her while she walked beside me.
"You prayed for me? You don't even know me," she said as she started floating to touch a walking passerby and they ended up getting goosebumps out of nowhere, "I guess people like you aren't that bad," she stated before walking beside me again.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked her when no one was around us, "Did people harm you?" I looked at her, her bloodied head, ripped attire, and the disheveled state says otherwise.
"You can say that, but I don't look like this normally," she says and disappears before popping in front of me again, a beautiful girl stands in front of me.
"You're so pretty, why do you want to look like the other one?" My question seems to have struck something in her as she clutches the edge of her dress.
"This beauty of mine is the cause of my death," she sadly yet bitterly answered, "That's why I rarely look like this," she expressed.
"Sorry," I apologized to her, "But thank you for telling me, at least I'll know to avoid it," I said to her, she looked at me with sad eyes before stopping in her tracks.
"I..." she trailed off before turning away, "I think I can trust you," she said before facing me, she said something but I didn't quite catch it when someone honked at me. I looked to who it was and it was the guy from the convenience store last night, Oh Jae-Hyun was it?
"You seem to get off at the wrong bus station," he says.
"I intentionally got off," I answered him, "Are you following me perhaps?" I questioned him.
"What? No," he replied, "I was about to go to work myself," he added.
"Oh," I muttered, "By the way, you go on ahead, I'm just taking a walk to myself," I stated.
"I guess you could do that," Jae-Hyun said, "Or..." he trailed off to hint at something.
"Or what?" I asked him, "Get in your car? No thanks, I don't know you fully yet. I don't get into stranger's cars as well," I added before I continue walking.
"Well, if you say so," he says, "Have a nice day then," he bid farewell before driving away.
"Gosh, he couldn't even insist on offering that ride," I said out loud as I walked to a stoplight near me, as I looked at my phone. I only have fifteen minutes left before I get late, "Damn it, I lost track of time," I mumbled as I look at the timer of the stoplight that it still has forty-five seconds left. I can't waste any time, I have to keep on moving. Routing the way in my head, I could make a right and then continue walking and just make a left to go to the original path to cut off time if the stoplight goes green on the next block. No, if I calculate it, making a left will turn the stoplight red, as it only takes a minute and a half for the stoplight to go green. I was so immersed in finding a path while mumbling them, that all of those train of thoughts was disrupted when a car honked beside me.
"I still offer that ride, Ms. Shin," a guy called out to me, I faced him to only know it was Jae-Hyun.
"I thought you drove off," I mentioned, "Didn't you?" I thought of it but he interrupted me.
"Don't think too hard, by the looks of it, you're about to get late. So hop in," he says to me and opens the car door from the inside.
"Thanks, I owe you one I guess," I said to him as I got inside, his car looks decent now that I've taken a good look at it. Looks custom-made as well, I was unconsciously running my finger on the compartments and someone cleared their throat. I looked at Jae-Hyun who was looking at me, "Oh, sorry, I just noticed that your car is mostly custom-made." I explained to him.
"You're more interested in my car than me, that hurts a bit," he joked, which earned a chuckle from me.
"It's not like you can get me to places," I bantered, "Anyways, where do you work?" I segued as to make a conversation, though my banter earned a sly smirk from him though he was not looking at me.
"I didn't know you were flirting with me already, you're already advancing on me, Ms. Shin," he jested, to which I rolled my eyes at him. Why does he remind me of a certain jerk like him?
Hyeon Woo's POV
I felt my ear itching a bit, as if someone's talking about me. I shrugged it off and continued working.
Su Yeon's POV
"Anyways, the answer to your question will be answered later on," he says before parking, "Let's go." He said and opened the door.
"What a cliffhanger," I said to him sarcastically before hopping out of the car.
