Su Yeon's POV
As soon as I stepped out, the staff greeted us. Well, him, specifically. I leaned in to whisper something to Jae-Hyun.
"Are you some bigwig's son or something?" I asked him as we walked inside the facility.
"Something like that," he says with a slight smile before winking at me, "So, Ms. Shin, I'll hold onto that offer for a while." He saluted playfully before walking away from me. Uh, what just happened?
"You got a ride with Mr. Oh?" someone asked me, when I turned to face them, it was a woman. My colleague, who was a pregnant woman from my first day.
"Oh, Mrs. Lee," I greeted her, "Yes, but what is he doing here?" I asked her and this question earned some glances at us and she pulled me away from the prying eyes.
"What do you mean what is he doing here?" She asked me in a surprising yet hushed tone, "That's the COO of the company, Mr. Oh Jae-Hyun! The one who was out for a business trip for about a month to expand the company in other countries."
"Oh, him..." I trailed off then snapped my head back at her, "What?!" I exclaimed, to which a lot of the people were surprised by it.
"Tone it down, will you!" Mrs. Lee whispered while smacking my shoulder, "You don't remember?" She asked me to clarify something.
"Oh, Su Yeon," Mrs. Lee called for me, "Can you handle this workload for me? My hand is already full handling Mr. Oh's workload." She put Mr. Gwang's file down at my desk.
"Oh, sure thing, Mrs. Lee," I replied, I'm glad she's back, I thought she was resigning, but seeing how valuable her work has impacted the workplace, the company couldn't let go of such an expert. I organized the files and sorted them through priorities and time-sensitive first before something else, "By the way, who's Mr. Oh?" I asked her and she stopped to look at me as if looking at me if I just asked a dumb question. Knowing that I was only busy with Mr. Gwang, she sighed before sparing a time for me to lecture.
"Mr. Oh or Oh Jae-Hyun is the COO of the company, it might sound odd, but he's the eldest son of the second wife of the President of Gwang Industries," she explained to me, "He mostly handles foreign affairs by himself, so he's rarely seen in the office. He's been away for about a month now, and that's all, so don't forget that information." She told me before carrying the files with her,
"Yes, Mrs. Lee!" I reassured her by standing firmly.
Present Time...
"I do remember, but I didn't know it would be him! You never gave me a picture of Mr. Oh, so obviously I'd just treat him like someone else" I whispered back while caressing my shoulder from the smack I received from her, she pieced something together and then stared at me as if she was about to ask something I didn't like.
"Are you and Mr. Oh dating without you knowing that he's the COO?" she asked with a gasp, "Oh my gosh, this is troublesome." She frantically walked back and forth.
"What? NO!" I answered immediately with fervor, "Why would I date someone like him?" I asked her back then someone else chimed in.
"Yeah, why would you date my half-brother?" That voice! I turned too quickly I accidentally hit my head with his, and we were both stunned by it.
"Ow!" I winced in pain as I tried to compose myself, "Mr. Gwang, I didn't know you would be here, Mrs. Lee just--" When I looked behind me, she was no longer here with us. Damn it, why'd you have to leave me now, Mrs. Lee...! I saw Mr. Gwang shaking his head to calibrate himself before standing up.
"Well, Ms. Shin, not only were you nearly late, you were also gossiping with someone, and now you harassed me in my workplace." He said and I bit my lip in front of him unconsciously as it was my fault after all for being so sneaky and whispery with Mrs. Lee with his brother. I saw him raising his brows at me and then clearing his throat before talking while adjusting his necktie, "Anyways, you have a lot of things to do, and maybe you'll compensate me for what you did to me today." He pressed.
"Yes, Mr. Gwang," I replied and sighed in defeat before going with him in the elevator. Once we were inside the elevator, I looked at him as something struck me, "Oh, by the way, Mr. Gwang." I called for him.
"Yes?" He asked without looking at me, as he was too busy with today's schedule that I prepared for him for this week along with the agendas.
"Our talk was cut short last night," I reminded him, to which I slightly smile before composing myself. He stopped looking at the screen and then stared at me, I didn't know where to look so I just looked anywhere, and then I noticed a strand of my hair on his shoulder.
"Ah, right, well I wanted to..." he trailed off when I couldn't help but dust it off of him, I stopped dusting his shoulder off when I realized how close we were again.
"Sorry, Mr. Gwang, there's just... something on your shoulder," I stammered a bit before looking away, the elevator door opened and one of his supervisors was looking at the sight of the two of us.
"It's not what it looks like," Mr. Gwang explained.
"I never said, anything, sir." His supervisor replied, "Now, if you're done doing whatever it is that you are doing, then I suggest that you fasten your pace as COO Oh Jae-Hyun is here to say hello." just the mention of his brother's name made him tense, I didn't say anything about it and just walked beside him.
"Since when Supervisor Min?" Mr. Gwang asked him, oh he's Mr. Min.
"Just a minute ago, he just wanted to say hello," he answered, he stopped in front of his office and didn't want to open the door. So I had to make a distraction while Supervisor Min tried to convince him to enter the room, I quickly grabbed a note and pen and wrote something play along.
"Mr. Gwang, there's this time-sensitive file, it requires your utmost attention." I handed him the file and he opened it as Mr. Min entered the room first to let Mr. Oh know about Mr. Gwang's presence. When he read the note, he looked at me, and I winked at him to let him know. When I noticed that Mr. Oh had gotten up from his seat, I grabbed Mr. Gwang's hand and immediately pulled him into the elevator. When Mr. Min and Mr. Oh were out of the office, I closed the elevator and turned quickly to face them.
"Where's Mr. Gwang, Secretary Shin?" Supervisor Min asked me.
"I apologize for the sudden announcement, but one of his clients in Gangnam wants to discuss with his latest talk into coming to terms with Gwang Industries, I'll head directly to where Mr. Gwang is now. Have a nice day, Mr. Min and Mr. Oh," I bid my farewell and hopped inside the elevator while Mr. Gwang was hiding beside the elevator door as I quickly and subtly pressed the button to close it. When the elevator started to go down, Mr. Gwang and I sighed in relief when we both lost them. I started laughing after that and then he joined me later on, when we started calming down, he stood firmly and faced me.
"Thank you, Ms. Shin. I mean it," he expressed as I returned with a smile.
"You're welcome, Mr. Gwang," I welcomed him, "Now I believe you owe me one," I said to him as he scoffed at it.
"Okay, then, since you saved my skin..." he trailed off and thought about it before giving in, "Whatever it is, you can name it. A raise, a rank up, anything." He flexed it, the offer is very promising, and I don't want to let go of what he just said now. But there's something more than that that I need.
"You know, last night, while we were talking, I realized a lot," I said to distract him for a bit.
"Okay, I'll bite on that one first." He crossed his arms at me, "Why is that?" He asked me.
"That you lack the social life," I pointed out.
"Ouch, that's harsh, Ms. Shin." Mr. Gwang chuckled at it, "What else?" he asked me.
"That you're also alone most of the time, and that you have a lot on your plate. I know the serving must be great, but sometimes we can share them to lessen them from overwhelming you." I said to him.
"That is turning somewhere I don't get, are you hungry perhaps?" He asked me.
"No, all I'm saying is, you can also count on me when we're not in our working hours." I reminded him, "Just like what we did yesterday, you can call me by my name and I you." I said to him.
"That's what you want? To be your friend?" He asked.
"Well... what's bad about it?" I asked him with a smile, "After all, I anticipate talking to you too... Hyeon Woo." I cocked my head to side with a gentle smile.
