Slowly ever so slowly I crept towards a rabbit with a pink horn atop its head. It was munching on what seemed to be a delectable meal for it as it rapidly nibbled upon its succulent treat. The treat in question was a whole bear!
~~
After my battle with the undead wolves and although my wounds were light I hadn't eaten in days making the use of what little blood and nutrients had left me exhausted but I also felt so... alive. As I walked away from the corpse party my head started to spin and my nails extended and my senses seemed to enhance to the point of overstimulation. Breathing was painful from all the noise and the feeling of blood pumping around my body as I felt every particle of dust and heard every rasp of my breath.
I felt so alive like I had finally woken up. I could feel the my emotions were there but suppressed and I liked it. I could feel everything without the drawbacks of said emotions. I could think rationally and with stratergt. The vampire blood hadn't awakened fully and that battle pushed me over the edge.
Breaking into a sprint I let my instincts guide me to some prey. I could feel their strength, I coveted their fear as they felt me sprinting towards them. Each was a mere morsel not enough to satiate the thirst I felt building up so I went deeper to where larger prey may reside however I was met by the feeling of anguish was its strongest I had ever sensed and before I knew it, it led me to a battle between this cute ball of fur and a bear that looked like it was on all the steroids. However to my surprise the bear was the source of the anguish and it was cowering away from the furball when I arrived and I noticed that the rabbit had no wounds while the bear was covered in them.
That was when I witnessed something that I hadn't seen yet (not like it was very hard). The bunny was using magic! It's pink horn started to glow and so within similar to runes made their presence known, Blades of wind cut off fur and flesh from the bear as it succumbed to its wounds. The bunny then began happily chewing at the bear like nothing was wrong.
It was a perfect hunt an 2 for one. While I could tell that demon rabbit was weak physically it must have made it up in magic and agility. I coated myself in darkness allowing it to drape over my very being to hide it from the senses of the rabbit. I shuffled ever so slowly towards the rabbit before pulling out Mishia's scythe. My heart rate quickened and I noticed that the rabbit was getting ready to move probably feeling my subtle bloodlust, Charging a crude amount of mana into my legs to create a coating I leapt with all my strength and to the rabbits senses I just appeared before them and swiftly punctured their brain with my hand. Licking the blood and flesh off of my hand I felt ecstasy. The subtle honey-like flavour made the blood taste divine. If it was low rank blood imagine what high rank blood would taste like! Salivating I grabbed the beast by its neck before puncturing it with my teeth. Slowly I sucked all the blood I could without spilling a drop before working on the bear too.
Sitting on a nearby rock I felt satisfied with my meal and I began to look through 'Misha's' Dimensional storage for vials and tubes to store blood. Luckily it seemed she had the same idea as I found multiple empty bottles and a flask. This led to another issue which was how I was going to siphon the blood from monsters. Would I have to bleed them into a pan and then pour the blood manually?
I had tried manipulating the blood of other beings however I couldn't do it, there was some kind of resistance like they could stop me from manipulating their blood. Then it hit me, I was so stupid. I tried to manipulate a living beings blood but what if they were dead?
Instantly standing I looked for more prey and found some porcupine/Lizard hybrid. Not wanting to hurt myself I used my blood to create a short spear to pierce its head, It took a couple of attacks since its defence was high but it wasn't a problem.
Focusing on the blood in the body I felt a connection like a switch had been toggled, Slowly the blood floated out of the creature and formed a sphere. Taking out a vial I proceeded to manipulate the blood into the vials before storing them in my inventory.
It was a tiring process since it was my first time so I sat down under a tree and rested. Curious as to what the flask contained I pulled it from the inventory and opened the lid. A smell similar to a mixture of honey and flowers filled my nose as I salivated at just the smell.
It was blood. High rank blood!
Taking a taste my eyes widened. There were no words for the taste except from heavenly. Greedily gulping it down I savoured the taste down to the very last drop before putting the lid back on and throwing it into my inventory.
I felt a slight burning coming from my stomach before it started radiating to other parts of my body. It felt warm and cozy and then it spread to my bones. The burning turned to scorching as it entered my blood and the pain started to increase.
Keeling over in agony I felt the burning get more intense before my nerves were set on fire. The feeling of pain everywhere gave me a severe headache as my head started ringing, I was near catatonic and I was on the verge of passing out. The pain kicked up a notch and I couldn't hold my sanity for any longer as I started drooling before I finally passed out.
~~~
Awakening after an unknown amount of time I instantly noticed a difference. I felt lighter, more free than I did before like an invisible weight was removed from me. Unfortunately I couldn't test out my strength as I couldn't move and my body was still burning quite badly. I could bear the high amounts of pain however it was not pleasant. It was not like I had any resistance or nullification to the pain so I had no choice but to suck up my issues and lay there.
Thinking of other ways to see my strength I looked at my status and all I could do was look in surprise at the change.
That was dragon blood!?
The increase in my stats showed that the blood must have been from one of the strongest beings and I drank it like a cheap liquor. Instant regret washed over me as it must have been hard for even her to gather. I doubt a dragon would just let someone take a flask of their blood.
My stats had risen especially in the magic area however I could feel that I had hit a hidden boundary.
It seemed that I had to train and I couldn't rely on blood to push myself up the ranks, This meant that I would have to have a even distribution between training and drinking blood, And I could tell that I had fucked up as that blood was high ranking meaning the training that I would have to do to balance it would be immense.
Dragon scales seemed perfect as it provided an additional layer of armour but I had no clue on how to increase their proficiency. Would I need more dragon blood or did I need to use them? Skills couldn't be learnt from books and items instantly, you needed to read the book and follow the steps until it became second nature for it to show up as a skill.
I felt a severe hunger after all the pain my body had been through. Was it normal to require so much blood or was it because I was so hurt after the dragon blood restructured my body? Either way it was a problem since I couldn't move.
~~~
After a few hours the hunger became unbearable as my fangs elongated and my nails sharpened once again, however it was all in vain as i still couldn't move a muscle. That blood had done some serious damage to my body or I was too exhausted, it was probably a mixture of both.
My body craved blood, I just needed some to recover and then I could continue without worry, but that was also cause for concern as for all I knew I could get addicted to blood or the time between needing to feed myself could get smaller. The time spent here could help me train in moderating my blood intake from now on.
I had no choice but to wait until I could actually move anyways, the best I could do is rest until I had enough energy to move, maybe someone will find my body or a beast could and I can use magic against it and drain its blood. either way I needed help and I needed it quickly.
