Chapter 11 - Towards a city! PT 2

It had been a couple days since I had rented out a room at the inn and I hadn't left yet. I spent my time efficiently by meditating and gaining an affinity for my new body. Each hour of meditation decreased the lag between my soul and my body. Within a week I would be at full working order or at least that is my hope.

I wanted to try out more of my strength and learn it's weaknesses. I knew that compared to other beings that were my rank I was naturally stronger however I wanted to know just how strong that was. Was it enough to crush them or was it just the tiniest bit more strength that it meant nothing. Working out my limits was imperative to my survival and I could only sleep until the cover of night allowed me freedom of movement away from prying eyes.

~~

Opening my eyes I sat up. A wave of understanding washed over me as I took in my surroundings. The soft glow of the moon felt inviting as my body filled with boundless energy. The night enhanced my stats by a small margin due to my title as a primordial. If I had to compare myself between day and night it felt like a major difference between a car and a train.

I activated my control over the shadows before bending them into a cloak of darkness that surrounded my body. Slowly I climbed out of the small window in my room before pushing my legs off the side of the building thrusting myself across towards the roof opposite me.

In other words I jumped onto the roof of the building next to this one.

I always loved theatrics. Whether it be complex wording for simple things or creating a scene with raw emotion. I couldn't wait to try it out in this world where laws are simple and chaos is everywhere.

~~

I jumped from building to building before leaping over the wooden wall of the village before performing a roll to dissipate the excess kinetic energy of my fall before taking off in a run, the wind blowing past my face as I pushed myself further and further beyond my normal limits. I felt free almost venerated by the strength of this body and the boosts it provided.

I couldn't help but let out a self deprecating sneer at my own giddiness, was I a child on christmas? This was real life and I had just run into a monster den in my stupidity. A pack of beasts, twisted and gruesome circled me, parts of their flesh handing off like a loose sock maggots infesting their undead flesh. In the moonlight a single figure stood taller than the rest of their body mostly in tact as their muscles seemed larger and their teeth sharper.

Undead wolves, a starter monster in the game I played. They looked a lot cuter on a screen when they were mere pixels but In the flesh (rotten putrid flesh might I add) they were anything but cute.

The leader was snarling at me before one of its cronies launched itself at me. I didn't want to touch that with my bare hands so I jumped to the side in the hopes of dodging the beast. Before it could launch another attack I pulled out a rod from Mishia's inventory. The best way to beat these monsters was with bludgeoning damage not swords.

When I pounced again I wound up a swing like a baseball bat before letting loose a satisfying crack came from the impact as the rod caved in the skull of the wolf. it was still 'alive' but severely wounded. Each bone worked as a network supplying dark mana to the body, if one bone were to be misaligned the construct would shatter into a pile of bines.

The next one to pounce on me did so with its friend with a caved in skull, I had no choice but to dodge however I wasn't fast enough and their claws sunk into the flesh on my sides before digging in and not letting go.

Let. Go. You. Mother. Fucker.

Thwack Thwack Thwack Thwack Thwack

Eventually I managed to separate the beast from its limb collapsing the construct. 6 more to go. I needed to be more serious as I couldn't risk getting more wounds as I had no way of healing myself. Each time a beast would charge me I would dodge just enough to not get hurt, I was cutting it close but I had no way to secure myself. I coated myself in shadows before each strike giving me enough strength to sever the constructs in one swing if I used all of my strength.

The leader finally made his rage known as it howled in pain and rage. Slowly it circled me and I knew I was fucked in all kinds of ways. I was struggling with lesser undead wolves and now I had a veritable boss monster on my hands.

I needed to focus dig deep and hope that with my low level spells I would be able to defeat this thing unscathed.

Opening the wound on my side I allowed my blood to drip from the wound before creating a crude stick that was my sorry excuse for a dagger. I didn't have enough blood to form it properly without a deeper wound but it would have to do.

[Celeste's embrace]

My wounds healed rapidly with the call from my magic even for a vampire it was extraordinarily quick. My constellation magic had a wide range of uses but it was mainly AOE spells however this low level spell could be cast even with my pitiful progress into the art.

Launching at me it dove for my neck however it was a feint as I halted its momentum before trying to bite my legs. Swiftly I shoved the rod in between us before holding my dagger in a reverse grip and swinging down on the leader's head causing the dagger to snap off in its skull however it was still alive.

Quickly I coated the rod in shadows before pulling it out of the ground flinging dirt everywhere in a desperate attempt to disorientate it however it had no effect.

"It's an undead of course it doesn't care about a little dirt in its eyes"

Using the shadow covered rod I swung at the leader however to the beasts suprise the swing it guarded against never came instead it felt a sensation on the other side of it's head before it succumbed to the shattering if it's skull.

Sitting down I heaved trying to catch my breath. I was ill prepared and I didn't like it. I had been wounded and the thirst for blood had been rising for a while now especially after I healed my wound. It seems that even with a healing spell the nutrients required to heal myself come from my need for blood. I would have to hunt something to replenish myself.
