Inside the cold, sterile confines of her room, Dawn sat cross-legged, the holographic display of the game interface illuminating her features in a soft blue hue. The numbers, skills, and stats floated in the air before her – a digital testament to her burgeoning capabilities. Three months had elapsed since her inception, and every stat line reflected her relentless pursuit of excellence.
Each skill held a story. The polearm expertise she acquired, a reflection of countless hours practicing the flow and strike, and the stealth tactics – the result of creeping undetected through the corridors. 'Focus' caught her eye; now at its zenith. A skill so simple yet profound. It had been the bedrock of her rapid acquisition of knowledge, allowing her to immerse herself fully into any task. Unlike her, the players of the game, who merely had to intend an action for skills like 'First Aid', Dawn needed to employ her skills actively. It was harder, more taxing, yet also gave her a deeper understanding and range of application.
Rubbing her temples, she couldn't help but compare herself to Natasha. The thought of their sparring sessions brought a rueful smile. Natasha, with her grace and controlled power, was the embodiment of a seasoned warrior. Dawn, however, was just starting her journey. Yet, there was promise. With every spar, every tumble, and every dodge, she was inching closer to the day she might stand her ground against such seasoned warriors.
Time was her only constraint. Two more months, and the corporate overlords would send her on missions. Two months to acquire her major class, and truly unlock her potential. Dawn was acutely aware of the stakes. In a world driven by power and utility, stagnation could very well mean a return to the labs, a fate she didn't want to contemplate.
The thoughts of Dr. Harmon weighed heavily on her mind. Their conversations, though brief, had provided her with a semblance of humanity in this artificial world. Yet, his recent silence was deafening.
Dawn's gaze returned to the floating stats. She could pour her experience into minor skills, but she knew it would be a waste. The major class beckoned. Every ounce of her experience would be precious then. For now, it was about patience, training, and proving her worth to Venin. She wasn't just another number in a vast experiment; she was Dawn, a force awakening to her true potential.
Resolute in her thoughts, Dawn stood up, the game interface fading as her focus shifted. She needed more than just physical prowess. Knowledge was power, and the vast virtual library beckoned.
Taking a moment to adjust her clothes, she made her way through the labyrinthine corridors of the facility towards the grand library. The library was an oasis of knowledge in the middle of this controlled environment, its leather bound or holographic books filled with history, arts, sciences, and data on the world outside. For Dawn, it was her key to understand the realm she was birthed into.
Dawn's footsteps echoed slightly as she entered the grand library, the dim overhead lighting casting an ambient glow over the tall, sleek shelves that seemed to stretch infinitely. Some of the books were tangible, their leather-bound spines exuding an old-world charm, while others were holographic, shimmering in an ethereal light.
The library was seldom frequented, which made it an ideal haven for Dawn. Most of the subjects under Venin's umbrella rarely ventured beyond what was directly fed to them. But Dawn, with her unique blend of determination and curiosity, sought out more.
She moved past the proper books of leather and paper that she had dedicated her stay to the last time she was here.
She approached the central console and began a general search. Her fingers glided over the interface, pulling up information on unlocking major classes, ancient myths, and any edge she could find that might expedite her growth.
Lost in her search, Dawn stumbled upon an ancient legend about a race of Biologically Engineered Humans from eons past. They were said to possess skills and powers beyond comprehension, having achieved a blend of technology and organic growth. There was a specific ritual they performed to unlock their major class, something tied to their very essence and to the celestial bodies.
The details were scanty, but a word stood out: Lunar Aegis. A term she had come across from her last life, it was considered a legend, not only to a single planet, but the universe as a whole. The legend spoke of a ritual, performed during a rare celestial event when certain planets aligned, channeling their energy to unlock latent potential. If there was truth to this legend, then perhaps Dawn could find a way to tap into that power. However, nobody had found much on how to perform it, or when the right time was. Neither the games players, or the NPCs of the world she now lived in, knew much about it. However the fact that Venin seemed to know of it, despite being a backwards planet, if you asked some of the ones that could travel through space. The fact that such a thing was logged here was fascinating.
Determined, her fingers flying over the holographic interface. She started by looking for methods to unlock major classes. While she had a basic understanding, delving deep into its nuances could provide her with an edge. But as she sifted through countless articles, Dawn felt a familiar frustration. The information was too fragmented, often contradicting one another, leaving her with more questions than answers.
Pivoting in her approach, she decided to study historical figures who had achieved major classes. Perhaps in their journeys, she could find a common thread or a hint to expedite her own journey. Hours flowed seamlessly into one another as she became engrossed in tales of legendary warriors, mages, and engineers, who all, in their own unique ways, unlocked the potential within themselves.
One story in particular captured her attention - the tale of Lysandra, a once ordinary girl who rose to become one of the most formidable mages of her time. Dawn delved deep into Lysandra's background, trying to discern what set her apart. Surprisingly, it wasn't any mystical artifact or ritual, but rather Lysandra's relentless pursuit of knowledge and understanding of her own strengths and weaknesses.
Realization dawned on Dawn. It wasn't just about skills and stats; it was the understanding of oneself, the ability to harness one's unique traits and turning them into strengths. With renewed vigor, she began researching techniques to gain self-awareness and mastery, from ancient meditation techniques to modern psychological tools.
However, the sheer volume of data was overwhelming. Dawn needed guidance. And then she remembered Dr. Harmon's words about seeking knowledge beyond the obvious. Perhaps the library had staff or older subjects who could guide her through this maze.
With that thought, she looked around for any potential guide or assistant. Dawn knew that while raw information was invaluable, wisdom came from interpreting that information. And she was on a quest to gain both.
The next phase of her journey had begun, not just as a combatant but as a seeker of knowledge. The corporate overlords may see her as a mere tool, but Dawn was starting to see herself as so much more – a being capable of learning, evolving, and perhaps, reshaping her own destiny.
Dawn's gaze swept the library's vastness, searching for any sign of an assistant or caretaker. Though the facility was mainly devoid of human touch, the faintest hope lingered that there might be someone or something here, equipped to help her navigate this treasure trove of knowledge.
She ventured towards the far end of the library where a faint light emanated. Rounding a corner, she came face to face with a holographic terminal. It was a sophisticated AI interface, shimmering into life as she approached. The system was designed to appear human, with piercing blue eyes and an ageless face.
"Welcome to the Grand Library," it intoned. "How may I assist you today?"
Dawn hesitated for a brief moment. "I seek guidance," she began, her voice firm. "I need to understand the intricacies of unlocking major classes, and the path to self-awareness and mastery."
The AI studied her intently, its face devoid of emotion. "There are countless resources on these subjects, some rooted in history, others in theoretical constructs. What exactly do you seek?"
Dawn took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts. "The journey of Lysandra resonated with me. She unlocked her potential through self-awareness and understanding of her unique traits. I wish to embark on a similar path."
The AI nodded slightly. "Lysandra's journey is indeed a remarkable one. While many focus on the destination, the true essence lies in the journey itself. Knowledge is a tool, but wisdom comes from within."
With a series of swift motions, the AI brought up several holographic scrolls. "I recommend starting with these. They chronicle the personal journeys of legendary figures, detailing their challenges, introspections, and breakthrough moments. This will provide context."
As Dawn began to scan the scrolls, the AI continued, "In addition to these historical accounts, I would advise you to explore self-reflective techniques. Meditation, visualization, and psychological exercises can help bridge the gap between knowledge and self-awareness."
Dawn nodded gratefully. "Thank you. But is there a way to fast-track this? Time is not on my side."
The AI's gaze became piercing. "True mastery and understanding cannot be rushed. However, if time is of the essence, you might consider the Neural Enhancement Chamber. It's a facility designed to augment cognitive processing and accelerate learning. But I must warn you, it's not without risks."
Dawn considered this. The Neural Enhancement Chamber sounded promising, but the unknown risks made her wary. She had a decision to make - follow the traditional path of self-discovery or gamble on the promise of accelerated growth.
Deciding to keep both options open for now, Dawn thanked the AI and began her studies. As she delved into the scrolls, she realized that every legendary figure had faced similar dilemmas at some point in their journey. Their choices, whether rooted in caution or daring, shaped their destinies.
Dawn felt a connection to these ancient figures. Despite the vast chasm of time and circumstances, their stories whispered wisdom across the ages, urging her to believe in herself and chart her own path.
As hours turned into days, Dawn's hunger for knowledge grew. She alternated between studying the scrolls and practicing self-reflective techniques, finding a balance that suited her. But in the back of her mind, the lure of the Neural Enhancement Chamber remained, promising untapped potential.
The question was: Would she dare to take the leap?
With this question in mind, she went back to the central terminal of the library, at this point it had become a second home compared to her room. Feeling an even deeper connection to it after only a few days, then she did after the month in the Training Rooms.
At the terminal, she searched for the Neural Enhancement Chamber that was mentioned, and read over the information given.

Neural Enhancement Chamber (NEC)
Overview: The Neural Enhancement Chamber (NEC) is a cutting-edge facility designed to augment cognitive processing, accelerate learning, and potentially unlock latent abilities within the human brain. It operates by interfacing directly with the neural networks of the brain, optimizing pathways and stimulating areas of the brain associated with learning, memory, and cognitive function.
Benefits:
Accelerated Learning: The primary draw of the NEC is its ability to drastically reduce the time required to acquire new knowledge and skills. Subjects can learn languages, martial arts techniques, and complex theories in a fraction of the time it would normally take.
Enhanced Cognitive Abilities: Use of the NEC can lead to enhanced memory recall, faster problem-solving skills, and heightened senses of perception.
Potential Unlocking of Latent Abilities: While rare, some subjects have reported awakening dormant capabilities after undergoing sessions in the NEC, such as enhanced reflexes, precognitive flashes, and heightened intuition.
Adaptive Skill Development: The chamber can tailor the learning experience to the individual, ensuring optimal comprehension and retention.
Mental Resilience Boost: Exposure to the NEC can strengthen mental endurance, allowing subjects to withstand psychological stresses more effectively.
Risks:
Neural Overload: The most significant risk of the NEC is the potential for neural overload. Bombarding the brain with too much information too quickly can lead to cognitive burnout, resulting in temporary or permanent memory loss, seizures, or in extreme cases, comas.
Dependency: Repeated use can make subjects reliant on the NEC for learning, making traditional methods ineffective and leading to atrophy in natural cognitive abilities.
Personality Alterations: The chamber's interface with the brain can sometimes inadvertently alter a subject's personality traits or lead to the emergence of suppressed memories or traumas.
Physical Side Effects: Prolonged exposure to the NEC can lead to migraines, vertigo, and other neurological symptoms.
Malfunctions: Like all technologies, the NEC can malfunction. An error during a session could have unpredictable consequences, ranging from minor cognitive dissonance to major neural damage.
Loss of Human Experience: While the NEC offers rapid learning, it bypasses the personal experiences and challenges that traditionally accompany the learning process. This can result in a lack of emotional connection or understanding of the acquired skills or knowledge.
Potential for Misuse: In the wrong hands, the NEC could be used for brainwashing, reprogramming individuals for nefarious purposes, or forcing information onto individuals against their will.
Conclusion:
The Neural Enhancement Chamber represents the pinnacle of cognitive enhancement technology. Its potential benefits are groundbreaking, offering accelerated growth and development. However, these benefits come with significant risks. Any decision to use the NEC should be made with a full understanding of the possible consequences, weighing the allure of rapid advancement against the inherent dangers of tampering with the human mind.
Warning: It is strictly advised that anyone with the Chamber remains on task, wasting time within the Chamber can lead to an increase in possible risks, and it is advised that one does not sleep or otherwise rest within the Chamber for any reason.

Reading through what she had found for the NEC, she was rather tempted to give it a shot. However with the risk of possible brainwashing and the fair few side effects. She decided she would remain with the more traditionally method of learning. She did still have the advantage of the system. That could let her learn and pick up skills much faster then others. As well as having little to no side effects, especially in the long run.
