Lily burst into tears. Her expression was ridden with remorse and guilt.
Leon was shocked, for he did not expect Lily to have such a sad backstory.
As an orphan since young, his experience was not much better than that of Lily. He had an intimate understanding of how Lily felt, and he was also familiar with the kind of despair and helplessness she faced when encountering difficulties…
They were both born in unlucky circumstances!
Leon felt tremendously relieved at that moment, having understood and sympathized with Lily's predicament.
It was already after-hours, so the situation on Leon and Lily's side immediately attracted the attention of many of their colleagues.
"Look!"
"That woman who's kneeling on the ground is Lily, right? The president's secretary? Who's the man she's kneeling for, though?"
"Beats me. I've never seen him before."
"That's weird. What are they doing?"
The bystanders gossiped with each other while looking at Leon and Lily with strange expressions.
Leon was startled by what went on. He did not want to be the center of attention, so he demanded right away, "Get up, Miss Cameron!"
"No, I won't get up if you won't forgive me…" Lily insisted.
"Okay, okay. I forgive you! Could you get up now? Let's leave this place first and talk elsewhere!"
Leon helped Lily up as quickly as he could and fled the scene.
Lily smiled. Tears might be streaming down her face, but she felt very happy.
She could finally feel a sense of relief now that Leon finally forgave her.
Leon brought Lily to the company's parking lot.
"How do you get to and from work, Miss Cameron? Do you drive or take a taxi?" Leon asked a little hesitantly.
"I take public transport sometimes, but I sometimes use QR codes for ride-sharing." Lily blushed.
The company allocated a certain amount of monthly reimbursement for taxis, but the cost of hailing a taxi was too expensive and she wanted to save as much as possible.
"Where do you live? I'll send you back on my motorcycle! "Leon pointed awkwardly at the pink motorcycle in front of him.
There was no denying that the motorcycle had a tacky color, and it was not something that he was proud of.
"This… is yours?"
Lily was stunned and could not help herself from bursting out in laughter. "This color is really pretty…"
"My friend gave it to me, so I'm driving it for the time. being…"
Leon laughed dryly, he already expected Lily to have that kind of reaction, and his guess turned out to be spot on.
Fortunately, he could take it in good stride as Lily did not intend to ridicule him.
"Hop on and I'll send you home."
"Umm… I don't think it's appropriate…" Lily was a little hesitant as she never brought someone of the opposite gender home before.
Worse still, being seen on a motorcycle together with him would open her up to all sorts of misunderstandings.
"I'm not trying to hit on you or anything. I just want to visit your sick mother. I have little medical skills, so I was hoping I could help," Leon said with a smile.
By inheriting the memories that his ancestors passed down to him the previous night, he obtained much.
medical knowledge that gave him a new understanding of medicine and medical skills.
"You have medical skills? You're not pulling my leg, are you?" Lily was surprised.
"I do, but not much. So, don't put too much hope on me. I'm just going to pay her a short visit on the off chance. that I might be able to gain some insight into her condition and provide you with some useful advice." Leon shrugged.
His medical knowledge was still rather shallow, and there was no guarantee that he could put that knowledge to use. All he wanted to do was help Lily out of sympathy for her.
"That'd be great! Thank you…" Lily nodded excitedly.
Her mother was admitted to the hospital several months now and the illness still showed no signs of improvement.
She previously asked the doctor if her mother's situation was alright, but the doctor's answer was always very vague.
If Leon did have medical knowledge, then she could at least ask for some pertinent advice from him.
After Leon and Lily got onto the motorcycle, Leon started the motorcycle and rode it out of the company.
