Chapter 84 - Episode 6: Owl

Quil and Roco enter the Violet City gym. Two Bird Keeper trainer stand at the door waiting for them.

Bird Keeper 1: Welcome to the Violet City gym. My name is Abe…

Bird Keeper 2: …And my name is Rod. We're here to test you and see if you're prepared to face off with the gym leader.

The two trainers throw out their Pokémon, a Pidgey and a Spearow.

Abe: Let's get started, shall we? Pidgey, use Sand-Attack.

The bird flings sand into the eyes of Quil, blinding him. Roco grabs Quil and spits water into his eyes to clear the sand.

Quil: Gross...

Rod: Don't forget about this battle. Spearow, use Peck.

The bird dives to attack Roco from behind but he jumps in the air, giving Quil the opportunity to blast it in the face with a critical Ember. One of two down.

Quil: You want to deal with this one?

Roco: Yeah yeah, watch this!

Abe: Pidgey, use Sand-Attack and Gust.

The sand in the air is blown into a small tornado of dust, both damaging and blinding Roco.

Roco: Grrr... I was about to do something cool!

He launches himself and headbutts the Pidgey with a Rage.

Rod: That was quick. Both of us were taken out by a single attack each.

Abe: Looks like you are ready for Falkner. Good luck to you both.

The doors to the battle arena open. In there stands the Violet City gym leader, Falkner.

Falkner: Welcome to the Violet City gym. I was watching your battle from here and I must say, I am impressed. My flying Pokémon are more powerful than theirs though. I'll show you the real power of my magnificent flying Pokémon!

Falkner throws out his first Pokémon, Hoothoot.

Roco: Let me go first, let me!

Quil: Sure sure, you got this bro.

Roco immediately launches himself at the owl and immediately misses.

Falkner: Hoothoot, use Hypnosis!

Roco is put to sleep and falls to the ground.

Falkner: Keep using Tackle until he's knocked out!

Hoothoot keeps ramming itself into Roco over and over again.

Quil: Roco's always had pretty tough skin, that's probably why he still isn't knocked out. Still, he needs to wake up soon.

As Hoothoot attacks Roco, a feather falls on Roco's nose. His eyes immediately open and bites the bird.

Roco: Hungry...need...food...

Falkner: Get off my Pokémon!

Roco realize what he's doing and gets off of it. He then uses Water Gun to push it away and then Rage to knock it out.

Falker: You dare disrespect flying Pokémon? I'll make you regret your actions. Pidgeotto, use Gust!

He throws out his Pokémon and his Pidgeotto hits Roco with a strong Gust, knocking him out.

Episode End.
