Next is Quil against Falkner's Pidgeotto.
Falkner: I thought you two would have at least a sliver of respect for flying Pokémon, but I guess I was proved wrong.
Quil: I have respect for flying Pokémon, one of my friends is a flying type.
Falkner: Silence! Pidgeotto, use Gust!
Quil is blown away by it's attack and hits a wall. He gets up and uses Ember but Pidgeotto flaps it's wings fast enough to dissipate the attack. The bird dives towards him but he dodges under. He then ignites the flames on his back and burns Pidgeotto. The Pidgeotto hits him with a Tackle but it's severely weakened by the burn.
Falkner: Fine then, looks like we're going to have to rely on other moves. Pidgeotto, Sand-Attack.
Sand is flung into Quil's eyes, blinding him.
Falkner: If you're friend wasn't knocked out he could help you see again but thankfully he's out cold. Use Gust Pidgeotto!
Quil tries to move out of the way but he can't tell where it's coming from. Another Gust is thrown at him and he's hit again. One more Gust is sent at Quil but he opens his eyes to blow the sand out of them.
Falkner: Well now, that's pretty impressive. It's nothing in the grand scheme of things though. Pidgeotto, Sand-Attack!
Pidgeotto gets back on the ground to fling more sand into his eyes. Quil though spits an Ember and destroys the attack.
Falkner: Use Gust!
Pidgeotto flaps it's wings to send another tornado of air at Quil. Quil flares up the fire on his back. He manages to follow the rotation of the Gust and uses his flames to create a heat wave. The heat wave is redirected to Pidgeotto, knocking it out.
Falkner: My flying Pokémon, to lose to my own attack... Magnificent! It's power was so strong that it could only be taken down by itself!
Quil: But I was the one that made the attack stronger-
Falkner throws the badge at Quil to shut him up. Quil just picks up Roco and leaves Falkner to revel in his glory. After arriving to the Pokémon Center, Roco is healed up and both of them head to route 32 to meet back up with Bay and Gol.
Roco: Hey Quil, how do you think the girls are doing?
Quil: Hopefully they're good. If they deal with Silver quick enough then we can head straight to the next gym.
Meanwhile, Bay and Gol finally enter the Ruins of Alph and go into one of the entrances.
Bay: You ready?
Gol: Yeah, let's get back that Pokédex and my friend.
