Chapter 35 - 35. You finally admit that you are the one that killed my mother

Meanwhile, in the court

"What is going on? Mingxia turned towards the nonchalant Lixin, who relaxed while the court was in chaos. Only a nod from him explained what was going on, as if he already knew about it. "Let me guess, Haoyu withdrew his lawsuit."

Mingxia frowned when he affirmed her words. Her anxious self was a little relieved. She exhaled, rolling her eyes as she spotted the little cut on her wrist. That hand was where Yuxuan held her, and now it made her feel disgusted. Her head spun in irritation. She wiped her wrist with a face towel from her handbag. Ever since the incident, Lixin has been putting up cold shoulders towards her. She bit her lips, wondering why he was angry. She was the one supposed to be angry, yet he was the one losing his temper over something so insignificant.

Yes, that was right; Yuxuan was the only insignificant being in her life. Mingxia peeked at Lixin, feeling a little guilty for making him angry. She had so little time to react to Yuxuan's appearance, and if Lixin had not intervened on time, she really did not know what would have transpired between them both. She was taken aback by the way Yuxuan spoke to her.

Did he regret leaving her?

A part of her still liked Yuxuan; hence, she was having second thoughts about her decision to break up with him. He was forced to do it, and definitely not by his will. But to think of how he had not trusted and believed her when she needed his trust the most sliced off every part of her that wanted him back. The past had gone, and here was the present, which only had Lixin's name written all over it.

She could not continue dwelling on the past if she was going to make any progress. It was high time she focused on gaining Lixin's full, priceless trust. Mingxia folded her legs, waiting for him to speak to her.

"There is no need for us to be here. Let us go." He interrupted her thoughts, pulled her up from the chair, and took her outside and directly into the car. He strapped her seatbelt on and came down. His gaze fell on Yuxuan, who was about to enter his own car. Compared to the brand of car, his own was far inferior to Lixin's. Notwithstanding it, Lixin walked forward and took out his palms from his pocket. "I did not have enough time to introduce myself to you. I am Mu Lixin, Zhou Mingxia's fiancé."

Yuxuan ogled at the cool, collected man who had this unfriendly aura radiating from him. He laughed awkwardly, stretching his hands out for a handshake, and got nothing but a scoff from Lixin. He retracted his palms back to his side and rubbed his chin.

"I am reminding you so you will not touch my property. Lixin finished talking and walked away, like Yuxuan was nothing but dust. He climbed back into his car and drove off. Mingxia, who noticed the both of them talking, could not hold herself back from pondering what they were saying.

Her cheeks reddened a little bit as Lixin crouched closer to her to help her out of her seatbelt. She shifted her gaze to the window as he pulled off the seatbelt and helped her out of it. Her eyes froze on the figure in front of Lixin's penthouse. Her heartbeat accelerated, and instantly she ran out and hugged her tightly.

She had missed Suyin so much. These days without her feel odd.

"You have added a lot of weight. Suyin caressed her face, cupping her cheeks into her palms and giving it a kiss. Mingxia wrapped her arms around Suyin's neck and escorted her into the building. Once she was done showing her around the house, they both collapsed on the couch, chuckling like high school best friends. Lixin excused himself, strolling into the study room. Suyin pouted her lips, looking at the retreating shadow of Lixin.

She wished things could go back to normal between her and Lixin.

Suyin withdrew her sad gaze from Lixin and focused on Mingxia. She had heard from Yuming that the young master and Mingxia's relationship was getting better. She even got to know that Lixin bought a whole menstrual pad store because he could not make a good choice on what to use. Never had she seen him care about anyone like he did for Mingxia, not even her. She felt somewhat happy that the both of them were getting along and fond of each other. If it progressed well, then the arranged marriage between Nuying and Mingxia's mother would work pretty well.

"I am glad Lixin let you back into his life. Mingxia started off first, clamping on to the glass cup of water. She sipped on it, giving Suyin some space to think about her answer. Mingxia saw how unhappy Suyin was and perhaps understood where she was heading. "Whatever reason you think he has against you is wrong. He did it for your safety. Mingxia assured her, pulling her into her embrace.

No matter how Lixin treats Suyin, only Mingxia understands what he is trying to do. Somehow, she was the only one who could see far below the ugly mask he dressed himself in every day. He was not ruthless like the rumors said; he was the sweetest person she had ever come across.

"I wish he said it like that," Suyin said about her visit today. She was in Beijing some hours ago before Adie appeared at her doorstep, demanding that she follow him speedily. She had no time to refute his order, packed some of her clothing into her traveling bag, and made her way onto Lixin's private plane. She was not able to understand Adie's words until Lixin texted her about his plans to bring her to Wuhan. "He was so cold to me."

"Have you talked to him? Lixin is really not what you think. He is nice."

"I wished that. He must have treated you well."

"Yeah. Talk to him, Aunty. He will listen to you. Mingxia urged her to speak to him. Suyin shook her head and gave into Mingxia's persistent talk. She strode to Lixin's study room, knocked on the door, and pushed it in. She shriveled at his disturbed appearance, and the cold wind blew past her skin. Suyin twitched and exhaled, her heart pounding several times.

"Xiao Xin, I need to let you know something about Nuying. It is time to come clean. Suyin said nervously, pushed out a chair, sat down, and intensely gawked at Lixin. The room was dimly lit, with only a candle serving as the only source of light. Lixin was relaxed on the couch with a cigarette in between his fingers. He groaned, squished the cigarette stick, and threw it into the dustbin.

"Why do you think I will have confidence in anything you say again? You lied to me, your chance to tell me the truth was misused. I only brought you here to keep Mingxia engaged; that is all. Do not think too far." He arrogantly retorted, pointing at the door for her to take her leave. When she refused, Lixin rolled his eyes, stood up, and made his way to the door. "If you will not leave, I will."

"Your mother and I did have an argument before the fire incident. I admit it! I did say some harsh words to her and then hang up on her. I… Lixin, I want to make amends for my mistake. Do not ignore me forever. You might not be my biological son, but I see you as one. I and Haoru do."
