Chapter 8 - Ch 8 Breaking Point

Main: "By the way, you kind of distracted me earlier. What's the deal with that 'load state remaining' thing?"

Faye: "You don't need to sweat the small stuff right now. Let's focus on dealing with that slime first. Trust me on this, just this once. Deal?"

Necro: "Alright, fine for now."

As Necro walks for about 8 minutes, he contemplates whether he should trust Faye's guidance, and soon enough, he comes across the same familiar slime.

In the heart of the forest, a primal battle unfolds—a struggle that will shape Necro's path in this enigmatic world. With three stones cradled in his hand, he emerges from behind a dense tree, his intention steadfast and his resolve unwavering. The first stone takes flight, a cunning distraction to ensnare the unsuspecting slime.

"Throw skill acquired, level 1," the system's prompt interjects, its words echoing with promise.

The second stone strikes true, dealing a mere 1 HP of damage. The third stone's trajectory, however, is anticipated by the nimble slime, which deftly evades the projectile, a shimmer of agility glinting in its movement.

With swiftness born of practiced determination, Necro reclaims his sword and readies his shield, a blend of offense and defense poised for action. As the sword meets slime, a satisfying 2 HP of damage is dealt, the shield's protection offering a strategic advantage.

But battles are never straightforward affairs. The sword, a loyal companion, succumbs to the relentless strain of combat, shattering in the face of adversity. In a cruel symphony, the right arm brace follows suit, leaving Necro's arm vulnerable to the unpredictable whims of battle. A desperate struggle ensues, the slime's retaliation manifesting as a jagged scratch upon Necro's right forearm.

Undeterred by the harrowing turn of events, Necro shifts tactics. His fists become his weapons, each punch resonating with raw determination. Blow by blow, he methodically chips away at the slime's resilience, tenacity in the face of struggle his guiding star.

The forest bears witness to Necro's unyielding efforts, a testament to his resourcefulness and the echoes of his spirit. And as the slime's HP dwindles, Necro's triumphant final punch becomes the exclamation mark on this chapter of battle. At long last, the slime's existence reaches its inevitable conclusion, its HP plummeting to the resolute threshold of zero.

A triumphant melody fills the air as the system's message rings out: "Congratulations on your first victory, Necroviper is now level 2, Enemy defeated using makeshift armor, weapons, and shield.

Survivalist job unlocked.

Guardian job unlocked.

Swordsman unlocked.

Woodsmith unlocked.

The fighter job is unlocked.

Weaponsmith unlocked.

Your strong desire to heal your damage unlocked priest job and regeneration level 1."

Faye's voice chimed in, her tone encouraging yet instructive. "Good, now you have a plethora of jobs to choose from and useful skills to survive alone in the forest. Now, repeat after me: 'Equip job priest.'"

"E-quip job priest?" Necroviper repeated hesitantly, his voice echoing in the tranquil surroundings.

"System: Job priest and skill available".

Curiosity sparked within Necroviper, his thirst for knowledge driving him to question further. "What about the skill?"

Faye's response was swift and informative, unveiling a new realm of possibilities. "Skill: 'Healing Touch' - Level 1. Description: Channel your faith to heal minor wounds and restore a small amount of health to yourself or an ally."

The forest seemed to hold its breath as Faye continued her guidance. "Good, now look to your damaged arm and say 'heal'." Necroviper followed her instruction, voicing the command with a mix of uncertainty and hope. In response, the damage that had been regenerating before his eyes closed completely, leaving no trace of injury behind.

Necro mused, "Seems like there will be a lot of jobs to keep track of. How am I supposed to manage them all?" Faye chimed in, "Just say 'job list.' But keep in mind, many jobs might remain unknown, even to me. And remember, life-forger is a skill from the opposite faction, one you'll need to overcome." Necro nodded, then said, "Job list."

Necro scratched his head, his thoughts racing, "Hold up a sec, she's talking about those life-forgers being enemies, but they're chillin' right there on my list..."

A single bead of sweat trickled down his forehead.
