Chereads / Heir of Lust / Chapter 55 - Celebration

Chapter 55 - Celebration

As they say an apple couldn't fall far from the tree, but that proverb could also be proven wrong.

Rose Everdale was unlike her parents, greedy, ambitious, and heartless. She's someone who would already be happy when she was with Siphyr. She's someone who holds no ambition except for loving her man, and she is someone that wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice herself for the man she loves.

But sometimes proverbs could also be true. As the saying goes "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." She might not be greedy, ambitious, and heartless. Nevertheless, her love was as pure as her mother's heart.

Lesley Everdale, Rose's mother who was previously an innocent woman but had fallen for an ambitious man that greatly changed her.

To her, even her daughter holds no value in front of her husband. She was to love him with all she had and her undying loyalty caused even the most ambitious man to love only one woman.

But, that wasn't the thing she inherited from her mother. Rose erased thoughts such as "I can be the only one.", Unlike her mother. She was smart enough to know that she couldn't keep him to herself.

That is why, instead of making him solely belong to her, she had another goal. To be Siphyr's first woman.

However, as of now she still doesn't know any of this and all the competitions she'll have.

A while later, Rose could be seen in her room being dressed by four woman who seemed to be her servant.

"We will take our leave, Young Lady." They said and bowed in unison and left afterwards.

Rose was left there contemplating on what she would do next. There was only a few days before her 16th birthday and she could feel a foreboding.

Something wasn't right and she knew Siphyr was going to do something in her birthday.

"I'll be acting as my own servant visiting your birthday in placed of myself." Or so he said and she couldn't tell what he was thinking.

She didn't dwell on it for too long and walked out of her room. Then, she once again visited Siphyr's room and the door was opened by a girl in a mask.

It was Liliane and she told her to come in quietly. Rose slightly nodded before stepping inside.

She sat in a chair and talked with Liliane, "What do you think is he going to do in a few days? He said something about disguising as his own servant." She asked, her curiousity got the better of her.

"I don't know either, Siphyr's thought... I can't guess what he is thinking. He's... to describe him in one word... unpredictable." Her eyes then turned to look at Siphyr.

She looked at his disguise face with a sigh, and proceeded to wait for him. She wished that she could see his face more.

Just like that a few more days passed and the preparations for Rose's birthday finished.

The decorations, guests invited, and even the food was extremely extravagant and luxurious. In one look you could see that it's very expensive.

In this party, one wearing plain clothes would be ashamed to even come in. However, that wasn't the case for Siphyr, he was currently wearing casual servant clothes as he had already stored his robes somewhere else.

He hid his cultivation with shadow veil and his face was disguised. The current him was seated next to the spotlight of the event.

The sight of him wearing plain black pants and a shirt coupled by a black jacket caught everyone's attention.

They were wondering as to why such a man was seated next to the young lady. They all thought of him as her servant and nothing more.

The first to arrive at their manor was the minority and they were still all rich people in the city. People who were invited here were people that had connections to them.

The place of the party was in the back of their mansion which was a large garden under the night sky, brightly decorated by lights that was pleasant to look at.

After a while, the Everdale couple came out and stood behind Rose. Then, they announced the important guests that arrived.

"The representatives of the demon king's have arrived!" Rodger announced and 7 men walked in the garden and seated in the long table. Following them were 6 other people.

"The representatives of the sects from the central regions have arrived!" 6 people in different kinds of robes came in and took a seat.

They had a long table for their own, separated from the demon kings and after that. The party started.

Most people came here to make even more connections and some came just to enjoy.

Out of all of this people only one came with the intention of courting the young lady of the Everdale family.

Rose Everdale who was seated in a position where everyone could is approached by a man in green.

Everything he wore was green, be it his robe or shoes. Even his hair was green like his dark green eyes.

He approached Rose and bowed as he took her hand. "Rose Everdale, I came here once more to court you. Please accept my gift and feelings for you!" He handed her a box with a ribbon.

To accept his gift means that she would also be accepting his feelings. She wanted to reject him immediately but Siphyr who was in disguise besides her intervened.

"Aren't your efforts just a waste? The young lady already has a fiance and don't you think courting a soon to be married woman a rude thing to do?" He said grabbing the hand of the man in green.

The man took back his hand and looked at the man in front of him with disdain.

"Isn't it fine? Rather than marrying a useless person I, Joseph Leviathan, am a much better option!" He laughed with disdain and his words caused everyone's attention to fall on them.

His words not only were rude but a direct insult to the son of the demon king of lust.

"Is that so...." Siphyr mumbled and suddenly said, "If that is really what you think, then aren't you also not fit to be her husband? Someone like you who's just an illegitimate child of envy is much more useless than him. Heh!" Siphyr said with a small mocking laugh.

Soon, Joseph had his veins popped up in his forehead. Clearly, he was enraged by this man. Not only because of his words but because a mere servant was talking back to him.

"How dare you a mere servant say such disrespectful words in front of me! You deserve to die!" He unsheathed the green hilted swors in his hands and moved to thrust it into Siphyr's heart.

However, Siphyr narrowly dodged it with minimal movements and slapped away the sword.

Clank!

The sword fell to the ground with a loud metal sound. Then, he looked at Joseph with a smirk formed on his mouth.

"Aren't you a little bit too slow?"
