Chapter 57 - Duel

The sound of a sword silently swung in the air sounded yet, a powerful pressure loomed over Joseph.

It wasn't only him, Siphyr's aura could clearly be seen by others and it felt like they were being sliced.

At this point everyone knew that Siphyr's servant was a Swordsmaster.

Siphyr's swing was casual and he disappeared from their sight, as he reappeared he was already in front of Joseph with his sword reaching out.

Joseph's eyes widened in surprise but due to advantage in cultivation, he was able to react albeit slowly.

Siphyr's sword was too fast, even for him who was at the terminal phase. He dodged by ducking his head but he was met with a kick from below.

He flew a dozen yards by the strong kick empowered with Nyxavor and rolled on the ground.

The moment he stood up, Siphyr didn't give him a chance to react and rushed at his position. His swung his sword once more, this time it was a little bit faster. Even air was cut by this sword.

However, Joseph was still able to narrowly dodge the sword by leaning backwards, but not entirely as a portion of his nose was cut.

Siphyr intentionally lowered his swing predicting his next move and it seemed to work. Joseph's nose then recovered after a few moments, still blood flowed down his lips.

Demons of royal bloodline or those with the blood of the demon king are able to regenerate non-vital parts of their body in a matter of a few seconds unlike normal demons who can only regenerate after a few weeks.

"Are you just going to dodge all my attacks? If you don't strike back, you'll be turned into demon meat sooner or later." Siphyr commented and Joseph wiped the blood from his face.

He slammed the trident on the ground and the earth cracked.

'Nereus Fury.' He Invoked the power of the mythical Leviathan as he thrust the trident into the ground. This causes the earth to quake and unleash a surge of water and energy that came after Siphyr.

This was one of the cultivation techniques of envy and it was said that it contained the power of a Leviathan.

The surge of water came after him like a tsunami with the intention to destroy everything.

Siphyr didn't move and stood still, he waited for the water to come close to him and activated one of his techniques.

'Versatile Arts, Movement: Myriad Steps.'

His figure flashed and disappeared from existence and reappeared a hundred meters away.

He was able to move a hundred meters with a simple technique and even more if he wanted to.

Then, once more he activated his movement technique and reappeared before Joseph.

Joseph unconsciously took a few steps back and thrust his trident. Their sword and trident clashed, creating a shockwave.

They were both sent flying a few meters back but Siphyr immediately rushed again once he regained his balance.

'Undine Tide Sweep!'

But he stopped and moved away when a sharp wave of water travelled on the ground.

He jumped but the wave of water didn't stop coming after him and was continuously unleashed by Joseph.

'Oceansplitter!'

Joseph slashed the ground causing a shockwave and a wave of energy ran through the earth towards Siphyr's direction.

Siphyr jumped to avoid it but only to be surprised when the wave of energy rushed up the ground and hit him.

"Urgh!" He grunted in pain but soon his wounds healed but the pain he felt remained.

'Versatile Arts, Sword: Ending Strike!' He unleashed his technique to counter attack. This time he coated his sword with aura.

"Sword Aura?! Only the Swordsmasters at the highest level have that! How could someone at the second realm be on the same level as them, he must be a genius!" One of the spectators shouted but the others merely glanced at him after hearing his words.

He was stating the obvious, so why was there a need to shout. He should focused on watching the fight silently like them instead.

The man shut his mouth after the awkward glances and watched in silence. He felt embarrassed.

Siphyr vanished from his spot and appeared before Joseph. He slashed his sword in a diagonal upward motion.

"AHHHH!!!" Joseph shouted in pain as his skin was sliced on the surface after moving away.

The slash luckily wasn't deep enough, only reaching his bones and slicing them. Throughout the pain he held his breath while dodging Siphyr's continuous strikes.

He was waiting for his wounds to heal but Siphyr's speed only became faster and faster instead of slowing down.

Because of this he wasn't able to avoid some of his attacks, causing several shallow cuts in his body.

"Ah!" He shouted in pain and inwardly thought, 'I can't take anymore of his attacks. It'll only slow down my regeneration. I can't believe I have to use that against a mere servant.' He felt really humiliated.

He was already in a disadvantage after a few minutes in their fight and not to mention, his opponent was three levels lower than him.

'Leviathan Scales!'

The moment that technique was activated, hard ocean-blue scales started covering his body like armor. His wounds also healed much faster than before and he was able to recover quickly.

"What's this, a second phase?" Siphyr said after seeing his transformation. He could now feel a little bit of danger from his opponent.

But Sword Aura with the technique was still enough to cut through the scales, though a little more shallow than before.

Siphyr retreated a few meters back but to his surprise, Joseph instantly appeared in front of him and thrust his trident.

Siphyr blocked it with his sword in a hurry but he was still sent flying several meters back.

By then, his hand became numb and his hands trembled for a moment before regaining its calm.

His opponent was much more powerful than he thought because of that transformation. Not only did it increase his opponent's durability but also his strength by about three times.

At this point, Siphyr wasn't able to react at his speed and only continued to block the attacks while being pierce in some parts of his body.

At this moment, a terrifying gaze loomed over Joseph and it came from far away. In the place where the spectators stood.

In this short moment, Siphyr took the opportunity to move away from him. But he soon glanced at the direction of the gaze. It was as if he was saying to not interfere.

Afterwards, the terrifying pressure over Joseph disappeared. Siphyr didn't attack him at this moment, it would be a disgrace to attack someone vulnerable because of an interference at their fight.

"That was horrifying... Is someone perhaps protecting you from the shadow? But what can they do, the can't interfere!" He snickered and continued his speech, "Anyway, it's about time I end this fight. My future wife is waiting for me." He said with an annoying voice but Siphyr showed no reaction.

'Can't interfere? I'm afraid that those two will do just that. Is he perhaps stupid enough to not know that the terrifying pressure on him was an interference?' Siphyr thought. 'I could've killed you at that moment if I wanted to.' He inwardly stated but he did not say it out loud.
