From the moment he was born, he was scorned by his parents after knowing his lack of talent.
For this reason they tried to make another, a heir that is befitting for the Lin family.
And so their ambitions bore fruit after two years and they put all their resources for him, leaving the eldest with scrapes.
From then on, they only began to favor the second child even more, granting his talent he was also blessed with smarts and good looks.
This was not to say that the eldest wasn't smart and ugly, for which he was also handsome and intelligent. It was just his talent that made his family favor the second child even more.
And so he developed feelings of jealous and envy, what was for him were mostly given to his brother causing his emotions of jealousy to rise.
This developed a desire within him, a desire to feel superior to his brother.
Yet, no matter how much jealous he was he couldn't bear to hurt his brother and make him suffer.
"It's not his fault...." Or so he muttered but what came next changed his decision.
He was bullied upon by other members of his family, ones that had status below him.
During this, his brother came to the scene coincidentally but he made no move to protect his brother.
Seeing this the other youngsters laughed and continued the beating and his brother slowly walked away.
'He doesn't even care for me.' He thought and his decision changed.
He no longer cared if he's brother get hurt and he planned to take revenge. Not only to his family but also to his brother which caused all of this.
The start of his plan came when he joined the Moonlight Palace, a secluded sect located near the east.
It was a sect surrounded by mountains and families of the disciples couldn't interfere much there.
He heard his brother was joining this sect which as to why he never cultivated. After all, his brother had an innate talent for the sword.
To which they chose to make him a disciple of the sect which had an elder who was one of the strongest in the way of the sword.
He cultivated there for some time and his talent that was mediocre made him realized despair.
It felt as if he reached a wall that he could never cross, so he took on a mission before the choosing started.
During that one month, at the second week he secretly took a mission at the guise of him going into secluded cultivation.
The mission was to escort a young lady from a small family to another city and the reward was enough for him to but a new treasure.
One much better than his essence grade spear. And so he travelled to a town near the sect and accompanied the young lady.
Unfortunately, along the way they were met by a strong beast which killed the other guards.
He saved the young lady by running away with her in a princess carry, however he reached a dead end.
In front of him was a cave and he was surrounded by beasts near the trees. So he made a decision and rushed towards the cave.
However, he got hit on the back by a flying beast and he fell to the ground. The young lady was then pulled by a wolf's mouth who jumped at the opportunity.
"Aaahhhh!!! P- Please SAVE ME.....!!!" She cried for help, her voice fading away as she was dragged further away.
It was Lin Mu's turn next but he immediately got up and rushed for the cave.
As he turned to look back, he saw the beasts not daring to rush at the cave, it was as if they were afraid of something inside.
He noticed this too but he would gladly take the chances of surviving here rather than being eaten alive by those beasts outside.
Upon stepping inside even further he noticed an eerie aura coming from inside.
It was an evil aura but he didn't stop walking and proceeded with his steps, it was as if he was enchanted.
Then, he came to a stop and regained his senses, ahead of him was a bracelet and a scroll.
The bracelet emitted an eerie aura while the scroll looked normal.
'That bracelet must be the thing that's preventing those beast from entering this cave.' He thought as he realized earlier that his breathing was getting rougher the closer he was to the bracelet.
Then, smartly deciding on what to do, he took the scroll instead of the bracelet which was clearly not a good thing.
But, the moment he took the scroll the bracelet flew to his hand and wrapped around his wrist.
Locking tightly and he felt his blood getting sucked.
He tried to remove the bracelet but to no avail and after a while he lost a lot of blood.
The bracelet stopped his blood and changed into a pill.
The pill then flew to his mouth which caught him off guard. It went down his throat forcing him to swallow it.
Then, he felt the pills eerie aura disappear into his body. No matter how many times he checked his body, he could find nothing wrong.
So he came to a conclusion that the pill had no effect and went on the unfold the scroll.
"Thunder Strike Spear technique...." He mumbled seeing the name of the spear.
However he noticed their was only one technique but he didn't mind. He lived a life of being content on what was given so this much was enough for him.
Then, he started cultivating and to his surprise his cultivation speed increased by a large margin.
And so he decided that this was the effect of the pill and cultivated inside the cave where there was abundance of chaotic dust.
He was able to cultivate to the sixth stage here after almost 2 weeks, two days before the selection.
He suppressed his cultivation and he had already sent a message to the sect of his absence and failure of the mission report.
His reason was that he got a fortuitous encounter and couldn't let this chance go.
During these two weeks he also practiced him the technique daily and managed to master half of it despite some flaws in his moves.
After that he returned to the sect and at the day of the selection, he shocked everyone with his cultivation and strength.
