After leaving the restaurant, Felix glanced at Stell.
"I feel like you have something in mind. Is it interesting?" After receiving a nod from Stell, Felix continued, "Let's do it, then. What is it?"
Stell approached a random tree and cracked a little stick.
"Just take this." Stell handed the stick to Felix, confusing him.
"Now, let go of the stick." After making Felix hold the stick like a cane, Stell demanded.
Still confused, Felix complied and let the stick fall. Stell looked at the direction the stick fell to. It was a games pagoda.
"Let's go there." He said, heading there without waiting for Felix.
"That's it? That's the plan?" Felix shouted.
"Yes. That's the plan. I don't think there's a better option than this." Stell seriously replied.
After entering the pagoda, Stell and Felix headed for the third floor. Apparently, it was possible to watch a game for a few silver coins.
The monetary system in the exiles city wasn't complicated. A Low-Tier Common Rank achievement was worth five gold coins. Most people had dozens of Low-Tier achievements, so the average exile's net worth was at least seventy-to-eighty gold coins.
A hundred bronze coins were worth one silver coin.
A hundred silver coins were worth one gold coin.
To put things into perspective, a pound of bread was worth about fifty bronze coins. In other words, exiles could live comfortably for a few months without worrying about finding a job.
If they really tried, they could probably last half a year without any serious problems.
After paying, they scrolled through the channels. After some time, Felix pointed at his hologram.
"Hey! I found Aaron!" Felix excitedly said.
'I knew that something was happening here.' Stell grinned. Of course, the reason why he headed for the pagoda and did the strange ritual with Felix was to activate Felix's luck. Or was it destiny? Whatever it was, it guided Stell and Felix to the pagoda.
And after searching the channels, they really did find something interesting. It was Aaron playing a game.
"This fellow headed here after leaving us, not even trying to explore the city." Stell commented.
"You probably ignited his fighting spirit." Felix chuckled.
Aaron's game was a Bronze II game with a maximum player count of a hundred. It was of battle royale format, where players had to search and loot for weapons and armor.
When Felix and Stell joined, there were seventeen players still alive. Apparently, Aaron already had a few kills.
"Isn't this too short? The game has been on for ten minutes at most." Felix complained, wanting to watch the game from the start.
Low-ranked games were usually short since they weren't popular, and most players weren't even First Order.
"You can always stop the live stream and pay for the video." Stell grinned.
"That's boring." Felix firmly rejected doing such a thing while the live stream was happening.
"Wait." Felix realized something. "Aaron is Bronze II? Aren't we, like, Wood III after a win?"
"If you gamble with a strong enough achievement, you will skip divisions for that game. Do you expect Wood division players to gamble with a High-Tier Rare Rank achievement?" Stell mocked. "Shouldn't you know that by now? Don't tell me that you didn't read the rules properly?"
Felix scratched his head, chuckling. "I may have skimmed through a few things... I do know that the more players play the game, the better the winning reward."
Stell only scratched his head. Ignoring Felix, he looked at the hologram. Something caught his eye.
Rankings:
1.DarkKnightShadow67 10 eliminations
2.TheM0nkeyKing's_Student 8 eliminations
3.ILoveEm1L1A 4 eliminations
A person was close to Aaron's eliminations. Tapping on his name, a thin person with dark brown hair and a brown robe appeared on his screen.
The person was casually strolling through the central town. Sometimes, he would look at the sky, while sometimes, he would yawn. He looked as bored as he could get.
After not seeing anything interesting, Stell swiped back to Aaron. He was sneaking on an enemy player.
Aaron's enemy heard a stick crack behind him. Turning around, he saw nothing. Still wary, he didn't dare to turn his back again. He only got into a battle-ready position and glanced in every direction.
Stell, who watched everything from the hologram, saw what happened. Aaron disappeared into his shadow! Then, the shadow merged with a nearby silhouette. If it wasn't for a username floating above a random shadow on the ground, Stell would have thought that Aaron disappeared.
"Isn't that an ability?!" Felix's excited voice sounded. Stell's eyes also lit up. Clenching his fist in excitement, he continued watching the battle.
In most battle royale formats, a zone would form. If the players didn't reach the zone during a time limit, a punishment would occur.
That kind of situation happened to the player Aaron was targeting. Although they weren't far from the central town, there wasn't much time left. Clenching his teeth, he turned around and started running.
At that moment, Aaron got out of his shadow and threw a knife at his enemy, immobilizing him.
"Fuck!" His enemy shouted in despair. With a grin, Aaron finished him off.
Soon, the player count dwindled to the last ten players. A message flashed on Stell and Felix's screen.
[ If you wish to proceed, please pay a Low-Tier Common Rank achievement. ]
"Dammit! Didn't I pay already?" With angry cursing, Stell furiously typed on the display.
[ "Why did my game lock up asking for a Low-Tier achievement." ]
After a while, he finally found an answer. The games were free. Only watching a finale of a game required payment. However, the payment had to be deposited into their online bank account beforehand.
Apparently, they had been paying for the holograms, not for the games themselves.
The problem was... they didn't have an online bank account. Left with no other choice, Stell could only patiently await the result of the game.
"I guess we should make a bank account soon." Felix laughed, amused by the situation.
"I guess we should." Stell shook his head, sad that he didn't get to watch the exciting finale.
"Who do you think will win?" Felix asked Stell.
"Aaron, of course. He already had eleven kills. He also has an incredible ability. Plus, he has a cheat. I just don't see how he can lose." Stell didn't even need to think.
"I agree. Wanna bet on how many kills will he have?" Felix proposed.
"Dinner?" Stell replied with a question of his own.
"Dinner." Felix smiled.
With a grin, Stell guessed. "13 kills."
"15." Felix also guessed.
"What was the game number again?" Stell scratched his head.
"Um... I forgot."
After ten minutes of searching, they finally found the game.
Stell and Felix froze after seeing the results.
