Chapter 4 - This Is Reality ?

In his growing bewilderment, Kim Min-ho surveyed his surroundings. He observed the people walking around the hospital, the busy nurses attending to their tasks, and the patients who appeared frail. Each person had a label above their head displaying their name and the remaining time of their life. This oddity further rattled him.

Min-ho decided to retreat to his room, attempting to contemplate all he had experienced. As he walked back to his room, his gaze once again fixated on another patient entering the Emergency Unit (EU). Above the patient's head read "Park Ji-eun" and the numbers "0 Years, 0 Days, 0 Hours, 1 Minute."

Min-ho was taken aback. Only 1 minute remained of his lifetime? He felt his adrenaline surge as he chose to linger in front of the EU, curious about what would unfold.

Several seemingly endless minutes elapsed until finally a nurse emerged from the EU room. Min-ho looked at her anxiously and hurriedly approached. "Excuse me, Nurse. How is patient Park Ji-eun doing?"

The nurse regarded him sadly, shaking her head. "I'm sorry, Min-ho. Patient Park Ji-eun has just passed away."

For a moment, the world seemed to halt for Min-ho. The peculiarity felt even more tangible. The numbers above the patient's head were no illusion. They genuinely represented the countdown of their remaining life. He contemplated this unfathomable reality, sensing that he had uncovered the key to the anomaly he had been experiencing.

Back in his room, Min-ho attempted to absorb all he had witnessed. He sat on the bed, gently stroking his face. The numbers above those people's heads were the remnants of their life span, a device measuring how long each individual had to live.

Min-ho's heart raced. What he had witnessed was beyond imagination. The challenge of the Chrono Syndrome had transformed into a larger enigma. He felt a new duty, one to comprehend what was transpiring and perhaps find a way to overcome it.

In the stillness of his room, Min-ho pondered the fate that awaited people like Lee Ji-hoon and Park Ji-eun. The morning's tranquility morphed into a profound disquiet, as if he had opened the door to a more intricate and mysterious realm.

Min-ho knew he had to delve deeper, to unearth the answers to this puzzle. The world he once knew had shifted, and he sensed that his task was to confront it with fresh courage and determination.

In a state of deep confusion and astonishment, Kim Min-ho hurriedly entered his room. His gaze was empty, trying to absorb everything he had just experienced. He couldn't stop the onslaught of questions in his mind. How could this even happen? Why did he have the ability to see the remaining lifespans of others? And what's the meaning of all this?

Amidst the silence of his room, Min-ho pondered. His hands trembled as he tried to recall his meeting with the God Haneullim. Was all of this truly a gift from that deity? Did he really possess the power to take and bestow lifetimes?

He sat down at the edge of his bed, gently rubbing his temple as if trying to comprehend what was happening. If this was real, then he had an immense responsibility he had never imagined before. Knowing the remaining lifespans of others and even having the ability to manipulate time was something truly extraordinary.

Then, he thought about how Lee Ji-hoon and Park Ji-eun had their remaining lifetimes displayed above their heads. It was intensely personal and perhaps terrifying information. Min-ho felt empathy for them, for everyone burdened with such knowledge.

Min-ho's thoughts shifted to another part of his conversation with God Haneullim. The ability to take and give life spans. He felt a strong curious urge to explore how far this ability could bring change.

His hand reached for his phone, and he began searching for information on what he could possibly do with this power. Yet, the search was in vain. There were no guidelines or concrete information he could find. He felt like he was in the middle of an ocean without a compass.

Min-ho pondered earnestly. He decided to try a simple experiment. He took a piece of paper from the table and wrote his friend's name, Ji-eun. Then, hesitantly, he decided to try to "take" time from her lifespan. He wrote a number next to Ji-eun's name, indicating the time he wanted to take.

However, moments after Min-ho finished writing, nothing changed. Ji-eun remained in her same room, no signs of any change. Min-ho let out a deep sigh, feeling his confusion deepen.

He closed his eyes briefly, trying to absorb everything that had happened. Perhaps this wasn't the right time to delve deeper. Maybe he needed to contemplate more, try to understand and control this newfound ability.

In that moment, Min-ho was shaken by the scale of his capability. It was a heavy responsibility and he worried about the potential impact. But within his deep confusion, there was a kind of vibration that made him feel he had the potential to make significant changes. He needed to find the right way to use this ability, to make others' lives better.

Min-ho knew this journey wouldn't be easy. However, he had been given a rare chance and gift, and he felt it was his duty to understand and honor this ability. With newfound determination, he vowed to explore the limits and potential of the gift bestowed by God Haneullim. In the darkness of his room, Min-ho decided to contemplate and plan his next steps in this mysterious journey.
