Chapter 8 - Ember

Looking ahead, he saw a group of people descending the stairs. All of them carried a stronger level of aura, but what attracted him most was a girl wearing a blindfold.

Seeing her, his heartbeat accelerated a lot. Sounds of swords started ringing in his ears, causing cold sweat to fall down from his forehead.

"Why is this happening?" Lowering his head, he tried to conceal his feelings from the people around. If he told them that he started sweating upon seeing a woman, he would be labeled as a pervert.

He heard footsteps coming in his direction. Lowering his head, he could see the feet of those people. They stopped just ahead of him.

"Boy, why are you blocking our way?" someone in the group asked him in irritation.

Without raising his head, he moved his hand in a gesture to his side.

"What, you want us to move aside?" looking at the boy blocking their way and without raising his head, pointing in another direction, Arnard became angry.

Asher could sense his anger, but he was in a difficult position where he couldn't move his legs.

Austin looked at him and frowned. He hadn't imagined that someone would dare to block the path of the students of Divine Sword Academy.

Seeing the frowning expression of Austin, Arnard became excited in his mind. There were strict rules in Divine Sword Academy that they couldn't bully people outside, but they could fight back if they were bullied by someone.

Throughout the entire journey, because of that blind girl, he didn't get a chance to fight. Now seeing some unlucky guy annoying them, he was excited in his mind.

A grin appeared on his face as he took out a sword from his sheath. Since he hadn't awakened his martial spirit, he used external weapons.

These didn't have the same power as a martial spirit but could easily injure someone who hadn't awakened their martial spirit.

From the aura of the boy, Arnard could sense that he hadn't awakened his martial spirit.

"Boy, it seems that you are here to cause trouble. Then, by representing Divine Sword Academy, I will teach you a lesson," Arnard spoke in a loud voice. He didn't forget to mention Divine Sword Academy to showcase his identity so that the soldiers from the city wouldn't bother him.

Hearing the words "Divine Sword Academy," surprised gasps were heard from the crowd. Divine Sword Academy was the number one academy in the Mistwood Kingdom. It even held high status in nearby kingdoms.

Looking around and seeing the surprised people, Arnard felt happy in his heart. He liked to show off to these weak people.

In the academy, he was just an outer disciple, but when he came outside, he could become a patriarch of small families in low-level cities like Skyrise City.

Without waiting for Asher to speak, he attacked him swiftly.

"Master, let me kill this pretending bitch," Elara cursed in his mind as she was ready to attack Arnard.

But before she could do anything, a woman appeared in front of him, defending him from the sword attack.

"Ember, what do you mean?" Rubbing his aching hands, Arnard's face showed a surprised expression. He hadn't thought that this annoying blind girl would attack him suddenly.

Asher slowly raised his face. Looking ahead, he saw the back of a woman. Her black, long hair cascaded down to her spine.

For some reason, his heart started to beat again. If he didn't control the crystal sword with all his will, he couldn't stop it from rushing out of his body.

"Fire sword spirit… master, fire sword spirit," his mind filled with messages from the crystal sword.

"Damn it," he cursed in his mind. If the sword had a shape, he would spank its ass.

But now his attention was attracted to the girl standing in front of him. From her white robe, he could sense that she was a girl who loved peace.

"Ember, why did you do that?" Austin was also surprised by her actions. He hadn't thought that she would defend someone by hurting a student from the same academy.

Also, given her nature, she wouldn't even care if anyone died in front of her. He looked at the boy behind her closely. When that boy raised his head, his light green eyes left Austin stunned.

In this world, almost everyone had brown or black eyes. Those with special eye colors were usually from hidden families. But looking at the attire of the boy, he resembled a beggar.

"He can hurt anyone…" She slowly opened her mouth, then pointing her fingers in the direction of Asher, she repeated, "But he can't…"

"You…" Arnard wanted to speak again, but the cold look from Austin made him close his mouth.

However, he hid hatred in his eyes as he looked at her. "Bitch, one day I will get you alone, then…" he thought viciously.

Austin looked at Asher deeply. Then he continued to move forward by walking past him. Ember waited for all of them to move away from him.

After assuring that he would not be attacked by them, she spoke in a low voice, "Ember…"

"What..." Asher opened his mouth to speak. However, he saw her walking away without looking back. Of course, she couldn't see even if she looked back.

As she walked away from his sight, he sensed that the crystal sword in his heart had become silent. He even felt that it was sulking.

"Sulking, you bastard. You almost made me a pervert," he thought, gritting his teeth.

"But what was the fire sword spirit?" he muttered in doubt. He decided to question the crystal sword after finding an inn.

"Master, why did she help you? Could she secretly be in love with you?" Elara asked in a gossipy tone.

"Elara, you are a child."

"But I am older than you."

"But you lost to me. So you are younger."

"Hmph, master is a bully. I'm not talking to you anymore."

Bickering with Elara, he walked toward the registration with a smile.
