Kimberly felt a mix of emotions bubbling inside her as she arrived the hospital and stepped on it's lobby.
Hours ago back in her office, she could've sworn her mind was set on keeping the baby, but as her heels clicked against the floor towards the moving escalator, the weight of her decision hung heavy on her shoulders with a loom. She had never been in such a situation all her life — caught between a rock and a hard place. But somehow, seeing Caroline smile as she waved from the gallery provided some comfort, even as her mind still raced with lingering questions and concerns.
"You look exhausted."
"I am exhausted." Caroline muttered as they pulled in for a hug. "Is that it?" Caroline eyed the pastry box in Kimberly's hand.
Kimberly pulled away. "Yes, it is," and before she sound out her words, Caroline snatched the box.
