Amaya's eyes widened, and she opened her mouth to protest, but Kabir was unrelenting.
"No excuses," he barked. "If this is how you plan to treat my wife, then you're no longer welcome here. Get your things and be gone in the morning."
"I don't want to find you in my house by the time I leave for work. You have no right to disrespect my wife, even if she is your sister," Kabir thundered.
"Kabir, it's fine," Zaya said, feigning innocence.
"First thing tomorrow, Amaya. Goodnight, Zaya," Kabir muttered, his eyes lingering on her form as he left the room.
Amaya's hands clenched into tight fists as her seething anger reached a boiling point. Zaya saw her opportunity and seized it, a devious grin spreading across her face.
"Did you see how he looked at me?" she taunted, delighting in Amaya's growing frustration. "Like he wanted to devour every inch of me? It's too bad you'll never experience that."
