Chapter 58 - Experiments

[Downpour]

Cara's voice held the weight of final judgement, raining down upon the monsters and undead infesting the land. A white fog emerged from her body, expanding rapidly, filling the entire battlefield before ascending into the purple-hued sky.

Gradually, the fog began to coalesce, taking the shape of a dagger. Alongside it, another smaller dagger materialised in the sky. Cara lifted her hand, the speed of dagger creation in the sky increasing

Cara's hand moved methodically towards the ground, and with her commanding gesture, every dagger in the sky followed suit.

Boom! Boom!

Each descending dagger wreaked havoc among the monsters and skeletons on the battlefield, their ranks thrown into disarray.

This display of power sent shockwaves through their enemy's forces. The monsters and skeletons found themselves frozen beneath a thin layer of ice, unable to move. Any attempt to rise from the ground only resulted in another round of dagger rain, further decimating their ranks and distorting their skeletal figures.

The girl's mouth hung open in disbelief, her arrogance and mockery replaced by shock. She gasped in surprise, struggling to find words.

"Are you a peak A-rank magician in both energy and body paths?" she stammered, her face filled with a mixture of awe and fear.

Cara's smile widened upon hearing the question. With a cheerful yet innocent-sounding voice, she replied, "No."

Relief washed over the girl's face at Cara's response, but it was short-lived. The next words out of Cara's mouth instilled a touch of terror in her being.

"But I am an A-rank in all three paths," Cara calmly stated.

The girl's eyes widened in disbelief, unable to comprehend what she had just heard.

"I-i-impos..." she began to say, but before she could finish her sentence, darkness enveloped her. Cara appeared beside her, droplets of purple liquid falling from her fist as they reappeared from the other side of the girl's abdomen.

A scream erupted from the girl's mouth as she shouted, "Run!"

But the person she referred to was already dead. Gustine had swiftly dealt with him the moment the rain of daggers fell from the sky.

I stood at the back of the battle, far away enough to hear the conversation between Cara and the girl. The yells, screams, and curses of the people engulfed the battlefield.

However, the most shocking revelation was about Cara: she excelled in all three paths of magic—body, energy, and soul. Beads of sweat dripped down my cheeks as I contemplated the complexity of the situation.

As someone who had only been practising magic for a month and focused solely on energy magic, I felt overwhelmed. Cara had been honing her skills for at least four times longer than me.

To simultaneously practice all three types of magic, one must have a perfect foundation. This requires abstaining from practising any form of magic until turning 18. I came to know about this requirement through a slip of the tongue from the Soil Magician, who warned me never to mention it to anyone.

Thinking back to Cara's incredible power, surpassing my initial estimation, I couldn't help but consider her a genius. It became clear that I needed to formulate a plan to deal with her.

After the battle, with all the other participants gone, I found myself in the middle of the empty battlefield. The undead skeletons remained trapped within the ice sculptures, and no one bothered to pursue the fused undead that had become one with the ground.

Standing there, I felt the temptation to command them to arise, but my lack of speech hindered my ability. Nonetheless, I focused my thoughts on the idea of the skeletons appearing outside the ground the frozen sculptures, bony hands began to emerge from the ground one by one, forming a line of skeletons on the sandy land.

I gestured for the skeletons to approach me and crushed one of their skulls. As I examined the purple core within, I remembered the prince's inquiry about immunity to the curse. It dawned on me that he was referring to the potential infection by these cursed purple cores, which could turn anyone into an undead if their resistance was insufficient.

Closing my eyes, I attempted to activate my field. Within its presence, I concentrated on the core and successfully transformed it into a liquid state. It floated around me, validating my ability to control the undead.

But then, a new idea struck

Wait a minute.

I called out to two undead creatures, their skeletal forms looming before me. With a determined focus, I placed my hands on both of their bony heads, channelling my energy towards their cores. As I did so, their bodies began to tremble, and a strange transformation took place.

I used my field to transform the purple undead core to liquefy, their solid forms melting away into a swirling pool of dark liquid. The once separate entities merged, their essence intertwining and forming a new, more formidable core.

From the depths of the combined liquid emerged a creature unlike any I had encountered before. It stood taller, its limbs elongated, and its presence exuded an air of intimidation. The fusion of the two skeletons had given birth to a larger and more imposing being, a force to be reckoned with.

As the merged forms of the skeletons began to move, their movements synchronized and fluid. The once separate entities had become one, each movement a perfect harmony between the two. It was as if they shared a single mind, united in their purpose.

The newly formed creature stood before me, radiating power and strength. e, a reminder of the immense capabilities that lay within the realm of the undead. I marvelled at the result of my experiment, my mind racing with the possibilities that lay ahead.

"Yes, I can do it," I thought to myself. "I will merge all of them and create a disastrous, cool, and transformer-like undead." I entertain the thought that seems possible enough and cool , when I will command this giant undead in battle

Wouldn't that be cool and badass?
