For the past few days, Frost Larsh had been staying in his office reading and inspectining the spoils of the battle.
Unlike last time, as soon as he saw the small pouches of gold coins he would ask Landell to directly put it in the treasury.
For now, he didn't want to see any of them as he would recall the trauma he had gone through last time.
Currently, he was in his office hearing Landell's report of what was happening to the soldiers he had given the mission to get the reward.
"Master, according to Rupert there were many mercenaries coming and going. If they were in a party together, they would get the 1 Million gold coins together. And solo adventurers can also get 1 Million Gold coins.
That's why many mercenaries and adventurers going in a party are splitting up before they could have set foot on the Capital.
With the influx of people wanting the reward, the King had limited the people coming inside the Capital.
Don't worry Master, Rupert and the others have already entered the Capital before the King issued the order," said Landell as he put down the letter he had been reading to Frost table.
After that, Landell took another letter.
"Master, another letter arrived and it's addressed to you. It seemed to be from your Mother." As soon as Landell handed the letter to Frost, he left the office in order to continue his swordsmanship training. This time, Landell had been experimenting combining his lightning magic with his swordsmanship.
Looking at the letter he had received, Frost didn't what to feel. Was he relieved that it was his Mother that approached himself before he had the courage to do it?
Honestly, ever since he heard from Landell that he and his Mother fought to each other long time ago, he was embarrassed to approach her first.
It's not like he was guilty for what his past self did, he was just embarrassed. He didn't know what to say first, was he going to apologize for something he forgot? Or just go direct to the point and say 'Mother, I missed you'?
Needless to say, all of his embarrassment towards his Mother was shed off now that he received a letter from her.
This time, he was going to use this opportunity to reconcile with her.
Slowly opening the letter, Frost could feel his heart beating loudly. He was really nervous to see what the letter might contain, was he going to read his Mother's anger? Or she was going to shower him with Mother's love?
Despite his expectation lingering between the two choices, he already knew that the latter was unlikely to happen. If both of them had a terrible Mother and Son relationship for years, he doubted that his Mother would just shower him with love through a letter.
When he opened the letter, he was struck with disappointment. It was neither a letter full of his Mother's anger nor her love. It was just a regular wedding invitation.
"Wedding Invitation—! Who is getting married?"
Realizing that this was a wedding invitation coming from his Mother, he wanted to know who was getting married.
[Dear Guest,
You are invited to the wedding of the Ice Fairy Freezia Larsh and and the Fire Fairy Fier .....
Venue: House of the Fairies, Immortal World
Date: August 12, 20xx]
However, just as he expected. It was really his Mother's wedding with a man he didn't know of.
If he remembered the past 100 years, seeing his Mother getting married wasn't going to be something shocking for him. But now that 100 years of memories was lost and the only thing he remembered was his childhood, the news of his Mother's wedding with a new man was bound to be shocking.
On his memory, not more than a month ago, he was just spending time together with his Mother and Father... And now, his Mother was going to get married.
This news impacted him more than knowing that his Father was already dead when he woke up without the 100 years of memories.
Well, for his Mother it was already along time. More than 50 years had passed since his Father's death, her finding a new man after many years wasn't a sin in the first place.
"Now that Mother is going to have a new family, I wonder if he would still consider me as his son…"
Putting down the invitation, Frost contemplated on whether he should go or not.
He wanted to congratulate his Mother, obviously. But for someone like him that was still stuck in his 15 years old self, he felt like his congratulations was going to be fake. This was the same as when his parents divorced…
"Divorced… what's the meaning of that?"
Yet, another unfamiliar word coming to his mind. What was happening to him? Last time it was the Demon King, now it was the words divorced.
But before he could think deeply what was happening to him, he was brought back into a reality when he heard a knock.
Knock, knock.
"Come in," Frost said as he started fixing himself. He knew that this person wasn't going to be Landell, his most trusted loyal butler was someone that wouldn't knock on his door.
When the door opened, Frost already knew who this tall and lean person was with his long green hair and amber eyes. Just from the similarities he had with his most trusted butler, Frost knew that he was Lance, Landell's son.
"Lance, what brought you here?"
Frost asked as soon as Lance stood beside his office table.
"Father had decided to focus with his training right now, so he ordered me to take care of your needs while he is busy, Master."
Giving an understanding nod as a response, Frost took the letter of Rupert that Landell left on his table.
Though he already heard the report from Landell, he wanted to re-read it in order to pass the time.
There wasn't anything for him to do anyway, so he might as well pass the time with how he wanted before the report about the spoils of the Battle arrived.
