Chapter 1 - The lullaby of the birds and the wind

Rio's world was engulfed in a dense and thick fog. As he ran, he could hear the distant screams echoing around him, growing louder and more terrifying with each step he took.

Despite the fear choking his throat, Rio knew he had to keep running. He could barely see anything through the tears of fear streaming down his face, and his heart beat so fast that he felt like it would burst out of his chest.

The cracking undergrowth with each movements he makes. Cobwebs on his face, cold and dewy leaves sliding across his skin.

As he ran, he had no concept of time. The screams seemed to go on forever, and all he could think about was to keep running until they finally stopped.

Despite being exhausted and physically drained, he forced himself to continue on, unsure of how much longer he could keep it up. The thought of giving up and facing the horrors of the forest was too overwhelming, and so he kept moving forward, hoping for an end to the terror.

He had no idea how long he had been running, and the only thing that kept him going was the screams that still echoed throughout the forest.

As he ran, he could hear his brother's voice echoing throughout the forest. "Rio, keep running and don't look back!" he called out, his voice filled with the same fear and desperation that was driving Rio to run. Despite his brother's words, Rio found it difficult not to look back and see what was following him.

The screams were getting louder and louder, and the urge to glance over his shoulder was almost impossible to resist. But he knew that if he did, he would risk slowing down, and the consequences of that he couldn't dare to think about.

As he ran, he wondered if he would ever be able to see his loved ones again, or if this would be the end of the road for him. The uncertainty of his future fueled his fear and made him run even faster.

Rio had been running relentlessly for what felt like an eternity. As the sun began to rise and the dark blue color of the early morning sky washed over his surroundings, Rio found himself wondering if it was safe to stop running. Despite the disappearance of the screams, Rio was afraid to slow down for fear of what might be waiting for him if he did.

His thoughts were filled with wonder and questions, but the only one that truly mattered to him at that moment was whether he could finally allow himself to rest. He was exhausted, and the thought of stopping and catching his breath was all he could think about.

Soon enough the longing he so ever wanted was finally achieved by a cliff standing in his way.

He could see the birds flying, and the luminous sun in front of him offered a temporary reprieve from the terror, but the feeling of fear and sadness still lingered in his heart. The sight, though stunning, couldn't compare to the longing Rio felt to finally be able to stop running and catch his breath.

The boy who could no longer keep it in finally broke. Hot tears streamed down his face, he squeezed his eyelids shut in the hope his tears would stop.

His choppy breathing and watery eyes remained for quite some time, and he sat there unmoving.

After a while he suddenly remembered his brother. Even though his brother had been running behind him the entire time, he couldn't see him anywhere. Rio's heart sank, fearing the worst for his brother, and he couldn't help but feel guilty for leaving him behind. Despite the exhaustion, he forced himself to look around, hoping to spot his brother somewhere in the distance.

But there was no sign of him, and the only sound that filled the air was the singing of the birds and the breeze rustling the leaves of the trees.

Rio's heart raced as he began to scream his brother's name into the vast forest, hoping against hope that Leo would respond. He listened intently, straining his ears for any signs of Leo's presence, but there was only silence.

Rio's panic began to mount as he continued to call out for his brother, his voice growing more broken and filled with sadness with each passing second. Tears fell from his eyes, and he found it increasingly difficult to hold back the sobs that were threatening to overcome him. He fell to his knees, his voice nearly giving out as he begged for his brother to answer him. "Leo, Leo, please answer me! Where are you?" he cried out. The silence that met his cries only added to his desperation and his fear.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!" Rio's scream echoed off the cliff, reverberating into the vast forest, as if it were a signal of distress. The sound was so jarring and powerful that it traveled far beyond its source, piercing the quiet of the morning sky and reaching the ears of all who were within earshot.

It was a sound that could not be mistaken for anything else, and it was clear that the person who had uttered it was in a state of terrible pain.

The sheer force of the scream was enough to shake even the sturdiest of hearts, and it was impossible not to feel a sense of fear and dread upon hearing it. It was a sound that could not be ignored and one that would haunt the listener long after it had been heard.

Rio sat down, defeated, his body feeling the full force of the exhaustion it had been carrying. His head hung low, and his eyelids threatened to close regardless of his efforts to keep them open.

He was beyond tired, unable to keep himself upright any longer, and the sheer weight of his exhaustion took hold of him until he was forced to give in to it. As he fell onto his back, he looked up at the blue sky, his eyes slowly closing as he drifted off into a deep, dreamless sleep.

with the sound of the wind and the singing of the birds has his lullaby.
