Betsy Russell and Jared Hughes left the private room, no longer in the mood to hang out, and decided to head back to the city together.
As Betsy thought of Carl Eliot's hostility towards Jared earlier, she got into the car and sat in the passenger seat, buckling her seatbelt as she casually asked, "Do you know Mr. Eliot?"
Jared heard Betsy's question and glanced at her, thinking about what happened at Old Madam Turley's birthday banquet. A faint smile played on his lips as he softly asked, "Are you concerned about me?"
Betsy indifferently averted her gaze and looked out of the window, not bothering to engage with Jared.
"It was just a previous collaboration." Jared thought of how Carl had tried so hard to please him before but now spared no effort in belittling him.
Jared naturally understood that it was because of his changed identity that Carl's attitude towards him had changed as well.
