Liam pulled Layla toward him, positioning her head on his Lap. He began to gently stroke her hair.
"As I said, we are family now, and from this moment forth, I consider you as my sister."
Layla, slightly taken aback by this unexpected change, allowed herself to enjoy the moments. With a pout forming amidst her tear-stained cheeks, she retorted, "And who said I wanted to be your sister?"
Liam chuckled. "You have no choice, I just adopted you."
Layla, offering a semblance of a smile through her sadness, countered. "There's no such thing as adopting a sister, you know."
"Then i will make the term." A playful smirk appeared on his lips.
He tilted his head slightly, observing her. "So this is the real you, you usually act so reserved."
Layla, her voice a mix of resignation, admitted, "Yes. Why should I continue to act reserved? You've seen me at my lowest; I have no dignity left."
