Spencer Sullivan came to a sudden stop, "I'll be right there."
He turned on his heel and ran towards the school gate.
Like a sweeping wind, something significant seemed to have happened, and a sense of unease crept over Yvonne Young.
"Uh…" The school principal watched Spencer Sullivan run off, at a loss for words, "The award…"
"I will accompany Yolanda to receive the award," said Yvonne Young.
The principal pursed his lips, "That's the best we can do."
With Spencer Sullivan not present to accompany them on stage, the weight of the award and the significance of the event were diminished by a hundredfold or more.
As Yvonne Young stood on stage with Yolanda to receive the award, she was overwhelmingly excited.
She never imagined that she would have the chance to stand beside Yolanda as her guardian at the awards podium, something she had dreamed of.
