Some neighbors walked by the entrance, hearing the noisy commotion and seeing the police. They approached the courtyard gate to take a look.
Yorick Young saw the neighbors and waved, "Mrs. Peterson, look! Our young lady is back!"
Two women, one older and one younger, caught Yvonne's eye. She recognized them as the next-door neighbors with the last name Peterson, and their daughter Megan Peterson.
Megan was around the same age as Yvonne, and they used to be sisters. After the Young family's troubles started, she hadn't seen Megan in six years.
Mrs. Peterson was a notoriously curious gossip, and though she was too embarrassed to enter the courtyard for a closer look, Yorick Young's invitation provided her with the perfect excuse.
Seeing Yvonne, she exclaimed in surprise, "I thought it looked like Yvonne, what's going on here?"
As she spoke, Mrs. Peterson couldn't help but look at the police officers with a mix of curiosity and awe.
