A fine man walked towards the lady who just came as she made her way to the hall. It has been a very long time since she attended such an event. She closed her eyes as she sensed all the people in that place, different emotions makes her mind unease.
"This way, Lady AB." The man said, gesturing to her inside.
"AB, here!"
The girl who was sitting on one of the tables started waving her hand. AB's eyes landed at her as she walked towards them. The girl in pink dress stood up and offered her a seat, smiling from ear to ear.
"No, sit here beside me." A guy interrupted while smirking at the one who offered it first.
"No, you should sit here with me." Glaring, she insisted and pulled the hand of whom they were calling AB.
"Don't touch me." AB said and pushed her hands away from her, gently but dangerous.
"You're so mean." She pouted her lips but smiled afterwards. She knew such an attitude wouldn't work for her friend. "So how is it? It has been a long time since I saw you, you grow your hair long." The girl asked while sitting back. Curiosity filled the table as they stared at her. "Adnil Beatrice, you're spacing out." She added when they did not hear a response from her. Her eyes looked at the glass of wine in front of her and smirked.
"Of course, what are we expecting? She will definitely finish the mission." The guy started joining the conversation. AB looked at them and sighed.
"Don't talk about it." She boredly said while still playing the glass of wine in front of her.
"I see." Culton playfully said. "Did you meet someone?" He asked.
"Emperor's son." She replied.
"Wow." Aurelia's mouth circles. "I heard that he hasn't had any connections with any woman except her mother since childhood, and you are the only one who made his hood up huh." She joked.
"That mission is over now, the Emperor gave a decree to help us in need. The tribe already accepted it." AB said as Culton sipped his wine, grinning at her.
"Your mother had what she wanted from the start. The connection with the Emperor isn't a joke, in the past few years they have been lending us some weapons. I guess they are up to something." Aurelia worriedly looked at AB.
"How are they now?" After a minute the guy asked. Hearing that question from Culton, AB already knew whom he was pertaining to, it's her parents. He can't maintain his curiosity by himself.
And since AB knew that he won't let her out without an answer, she looked at him coldly. "I think they are up to something big, I don't want to figure it out right now. I still have something on my plate," she casually said as she looked around the event place. "This party is boring." She said that makes them chuckle, boring things aren't for her. All of the people inside their organization were celebrating her success, but she couldn't feel anything at that moment.
Something is bothering her.
"It's been a while since we last saw you, you are the only one they can think of having for big missions. But I hope they include us this time, it's been a very long time since we went on a mission together." Aurelia said, trying to reminisce about those moments of them doing missions.
"I need to go, enjoy the night." AB stood up and started walking away. The other two at the table were shocked by her sudden leave.
"Wait, the party is not over yet!" Aurelia said with her pouty lips but AB just raised her hands without looking back, she started walking away until they couldn't see her anymore.
She went to the garden to catch some fresh air but she noticed a man standing in the darkest part of the garden. She can feel someone there, and the silhouette is kinda familiar to her. She walked towards him but kept the distance between them. She never felt close to this man.
"What are you doing here?" The man asked, and that made her feel the cold breeze of the night. She remained standing and did not utter a single word. "You are supposed to get inside with your friends. The town is celebrating, you can't ruin such an occasion."
As soon as she heard the guy speak about it, she couldn't help but smirk. "I am not fond of celebration, you know that. I heard Aurelia's father won over the South. You have been desiring to get that place. But I know you have a plan, friendship is not your thing, so don't tell me what to do."
"You don't speak like that to your father, Adnil." Another voice was heard in that place. It was a female one and she already knew where and whom it was coming from.
"Telling the truth is also never your thing, I suppose." AB told her coldly without looking back.
"Tell me, what is bothering you?" The man, her father asked.
She looked at him as the light coming from the electric post hit his face, showing the cold face of that man. Then diverted her gaze on to the woman with her black fitted dress and that black lipstick she always wears.
"You destroyed the Yu tribe knowing I still have something to get back to them. The ministers rewarded you some gems. They are supposed to be mine. I need to get inside the palace."
Once AB mentioned about the gem, the tension between them arose as they looked at each other.
"You don't still get the point? They belong to our tribe, they belong to Xilan, and you are a part of it. Don't even make a decision of going to that pathetic war between tribes, they are not worth your time, you need to focus on something big," her mother said. She smirked at her daughter after that. "Stealer? We are." She proudly said. "Perhaps, the alliance between us and Yu tribe was not that strong, we can't be associated with losers." She added.
AB stares at her mother blankly before crossing her arms then smirked at them. "Then you should be careful of the Ruzvelt clan. The punishment of destroying an alliance they have been working out for so long is not that easy to handle." By just saying that name makes her shiver.
"That's why we trust you for this." Her mother said before walking away.
Leaving her with many thoughts.
What should she do if that time comes?
