Chapter 72 - THE ASSASSIN FROM THE HOLY CHURCH

As the mirror broke due to the Assassin's dagger piercing through, Rachelle had no other choice but to open the other door of the carriage, jump outside and then fully remove the ring on her finger, drawing out the sword of the Goddess, the real sword that belongs to the Goddess.

The assassin was taken back, closing his eyes as the whole area was surrounded by a blinding light, giving Rachelle enough time to hold the sword properly.

"Shit!" The Assassin cussed, seeing that Rachelle had run away through the forest, causing him some trouble. He started to run as well, trying to catch the lady who was running away, holding something that he couldn't figure out.

The assassin smirked, it's an easy task to kill the woman, knowing well that it's hard to move around with a gown getting dragged. She's wearing something pretty heavy plus the heels that would ruin her escape, everything is turning unfair for the woman whom he was chasing.

"You can never run away from your faith, Lady!" The assassin yelled happily, as he stopped running away and just walked at a fast pace, didn't bother about the gap between them.

Why would he bother when the lady will soon realize that there's no escape from her fate? Meanwhile, Rachelle started to feel the heels had been killing her feet and she decided to remove them, even if it meant she'd get wounded by small barks and thorns on the ground.

What matters the most is her survival.

"Shit!" She couldn't help but stumble on the ground, accidentally stepping on her dress which made her fall on the ground. Luckily, the sword wasn't pointed directly at her so she avoided a death flag there.

This damn dress of hers is causing some major problems! She stood up, getting back on her feet and with no other choice, she used her sword and immediately cut off her skirt, revealing a trouser beneath it.

Good thing she decided to wear some good trousers, or else she'd be facing the assassin at a disadvantage. A loud laugh suddenly emerges, making her turn her head, facing the assassin, ready to attack.

She hid the sword behind her, acting like she was scared and all. She is scared but it's not the first time for her to kill someone else's. She still has the ability to kill someone else using her sheer strength, even though it's not yet polished.

The assassin looked over the ripped skirt, then eyes the trousers that she was wearing. A small yet creepy smile crossed on his lips, licking his bottom lips. His eyes shone darkly, filled with excitement and thirst for bloodshed.

Yet Rachelle remained cool but acted scared, waiting for the assassin to come at her so that she could plunge the sword directly at his heart, she just needed some time to do it.

"Well, well, seems like the rabbit has no other places to run away from its predator." He mocks Rachelle, licking the dagger in his hand. What a psycho.

"Who sent you?" Rachelle asked, backing away from the assassin as he started to approach her menacingly, letting out the intent that he was about to kill her.

"Does it even matter? I don't think so." He replied, letting out a maniacal laugh. Poor lady, trapped with the big bad wolf, ready to be devoured alive.

"I see. Alright... Kill me." She said, still hiding the sword behind her. Good thing that this assassin still hasn't managed to figure out that she's holding something behind her, has no idea that it is a sword.

"Oh yes, gladly." With his arrogance, his eyes sparked amusement, excited about the thought of killing her. He took a step, running towards her direction with the sword in front of him, ready to plunge it deep inside her.

Seeing how the lady just stood there without fighting back, she made it even easier for him to kill her. "So long, Princess." He bid his goodbye, smiling as he began to attack Rachelle.

Suddenly, her sudden move made the dagger fly out of his hand as she reflected it with the sword that he had never seen before. The assassin gasped as he lost his dagger after a full swing created by Rachelle who looked at her with her eyes filled with the desire to kill him.

Her aura started to change, from being a weak and helpless bunny to becoming this fierce lioness that would swallow him as a whole. His body trembled at the strength that she showed him, turning pale as he didn't expect the lady to have some kind of strength to fight back.

It was Rachelle's turn to smirk after she realized how fear was evident on his face. "What's wrong? Can't kill your target?" She taunted as she began to swing her sword in his direction, piercing through his skin but he actively dodged her attack.

The assassin wince in pain, still caught in disbelief as he could not process what happened. What the hell? Why didn't the information say that she could use how to learn a damn sword?!

"What? Feeling scared? Come on, pick up your dagger. It's been a while since I've released all my stress." Rachelle felt like someone possessed her at that point. Where the hell did she get all of this confidence knowing well that her only chance of winning against a trained assassin is low?

The assassin growled at her, looking at her and where the dagger landed. Upon spotting it, he immediately ran towards where the dagger was, picking it up to fight back with the Lady.

But what he didn't expect was as he was about to reach for the knife on the ground, a sharp pain pierced through his inside, straight across his chest. He took a sharp gasp of pain, looking at his chest where the end of the sword was deeply impaled on him.

He started to cough blood, vomiting also as the sword thrusted out of his chest, making him kneel. Everything happened so fast that he didn't have enough time to process what just happened.

Blood started to drip out from his mouth and his chest as the sword made a hole out of his body.

"This is why you should never mess with the villain. Are you not aware of the phrase "Do not look away from your enemy?" Because if you aren't, then this is how your life will end." She said, walking in front of him with the most malicious smirk ever spread on her lips.

The assassin just stared at her, cupping his chest as he fell into the ground, cold and lifeless after the swift attack that Rachelle made.

"Damn, I made a mess..." She muttered to herself as the man started to create a puddle of blood, pouring nonstop, spreading through her feet. A small spotting of blood was also scattered across her clothes and also from the sword that she just used.

She sighed, she didn't get an answer from the assassin. Who was the one who sent her the assassin? Because Tyren couldn't afford to hire another mercenary or assassin to kill her knowing that she'd been placed under the strict eyes of the monastery.

Every movement that she makes is being recorded and reported to the Duke, therefore she couldn't be the one who decided to do this shit again. However, it could also be the Pope or Helena or the two of them discussing killing her using this method.

Just to make sure, Rachelle kneeled on the dead body and began to undress her to check if there were any valuables that she could keep in order to know who was the person behind the assassin.

Maybe it's because of her luck, Rachelle found a necklace, resembling those necklaces that every priest wore every time. She frowned, why would he have a necklace in him if he was a mercenary or assassin?

He couldn't be a priest.

Confused, she stood up hid the necklace in her pocket and started to walk away, wishing for the sword to turn back into a ring. The sword then started to light up once again and turned into a ring which Rachelle immediately put on her finger.

So her assumptions are true, either it could be Helena or the Pope or the two of them scheming against her. But why would they send a priest to kill her? Is there something else that she needs to unleash at the Holy Church?

Lost in her thoughts, she realised that she had already reached where the carriage was positioned and several knights were stationed around it, as if they were looking for someone.

She frowned, her hand ready to unleash the ring once again, thinking that the knights might be the people who were sent to kill her once again if ever the assassin didn't succeed.

She slowly walked out of the forest, looking dirty and deranged, ready to attack them when all of a sudden, Rachelle was wrapped around the arms of someone, imprisoning her from his hug.

"Felicia! Thank God! Thank God you're okay!" The man who was hugging her let out a cry, hugging her tightly. The familiar smell suddenly hit her nose, and all of her senses calmed down as her hands automatically hugged the person.

It's Liam.

"Shit! Who did this to you?! He asked, pulling away from his hug. His eyes showed how worried he was, checking every part of her to figure out where she was hurt. His emotions were scattered all over his face, concerned and scared after seeing her all so bloody.

Liam cares about her.

"I'm fine... I'm fine..." She replied, chuckling as she couldn't help but feel grateful for his frantic action. So is this the feeling of being cared for? Because if this is it, then it's making her heart jump in joy.
