Chapter 9 - THE DUCHESS' ANGER

"MADAME!" The Butler said, barging into the room of the Regent Duchess, Tyren Joane Blanchefort- Del Montague. She was resting in her bed, leaning on the piled pillow on the headboard. She was getting stressed because of what happened earlier.

"Jeremiah! What's with your rude behaviour?!" The regent Duchess asked towards the running butler. He was frantic, his cheeks were red, while his eyes swelled. He has these glaring eyes, yet scared flashes in his eyes.

"What happened?" The Duchess couldn't help but ask the butler named Jeremiah as she observed how beaten his face was. Jeremiah cried, and kneeled in front of the Duchess as he began to bow.

"Please stop the Duke! He's beginning to interfere with the first lady's choices! The emerald room... The emerald room! He had reoccupied the room as the First Lady's room!" He exclaimed, panicking.

"WHAT?!" Tyren let out a yell, shocked about what she heard from the butler. But the emerald room shouldn't have been occupied! Only the main wives can have the room!

"JEREMIAH! YOU BETTER EXPLAIN!" She let out a frustrated growl, glaring at Jeremiah. She was in disbelief and disappointed, she was dissatisfied by the fact that the emerald room that she wanted to covet so much for her authority to spread was given that easily to a wench!

"I-I was called to the emerald room and I guess it was because of you. But when I arrived at the room, it was the first Lady residing comfortably! She even slapped me, Madame! Please bring justice to me!" The butler pleaded as if his life depends on it.

Tyren was silent. Everybody, including the maids inside the room that was serving Tyren, began to cower in fear. Her silence means she doesn't like it, the things that she laid out for the path of her daughter were instantly getting disrupted by that wench... That wench!

BANG!

glass started to shatter, pillows started to fly, and everything was flying. Tyren felt so much anger that everything she touches, she throws them anywhere. She didn't care if her employees were hurt, she didn't care if they bleed or not, everything is because of that kid!

"What is the meaning of this?!" She shouted, her eyes filled with fury as she breathed heavily. Why is that man that she tried to seduce so much given the most prize possession that everyone wanted to covet?!

"Please quell your anger, Madame! Have mercy!" One of the stationed miss begged, kneeling in fear. They still haven't gotten used to her anger. Tyren swiftly looked at the begging maid.

"That's right Madame... Please quell your anger!" The butler also said, trying to calm down the raging woman. She had thrown so many valuables that are equivalent to a slave's worth.

"Damn it. Where is the Duke right now? I will talk to him." She said, sitting down on the edge of her bed as she sighed in anger, her relentless behaviour was affecting her mood very well and that's because of that damn girl trying to destroy all of her pavement!

"I believe he's in the office Madame. Please, let him rethink the decision he made! It will affect the dukedom if he keeps on doing this, favouring the daughter that killed the first–"

"SHUT YOUR MOUTH JEREMIAH!" Tyren shouted towards the old man who suddenly flinched with her loud voice, echoing across the room. She never wanted someone to mention that name.

"I-I apologize Madame..." The butler cowardly apologized, not wanting to strike against her. Suddenly, someone barged into the room once again, crying as she ran towards the duchess and hugged her tightly.

"Mother!" Helena cried in Tyren's arms, hugging her. She was weeping on her mother while Tyren was confused and worried about her dear daughter, crying heavily towards her.

"what's wrong, my love? Why are you crying?" Tyren asked her daughter as she rubbed Helena's back, comforting her daughter. Helena continued to cry in her arms, not wanting to say things which made Tyren more concerned about her well-being.

"is Helena here, mother?" Alexander asked as she entered the room. The first thing he noticed was the wrecked items that probably his stepmother threw, making everything crash on the floor.

"What happened to her, Alexander?" Tyren asked the heir of the dukedom, Alexander about Helena. Helena wouldn't answer her questions and it's making her worry about her. Alexander was hesitant to tell the duchess, because in the first place he was contemplating and was disappointed because of her actions towards the Marquis' son and heir.

Before Alexander could open his mouth to tell Tyren what happened, Helena immediately pulled away from her mother's embrace, looking at her in the eyes, while hers were swollen up because of crying too much.

"Sister! My sister was so rude to me... She embarrassed me towards the young Marquis... She's so rude, mother! I didn't even do anything to her yet she was so bad towards me. She was bullying me... Am I a bad kid, mother? Why does my sister want to embarrass me and make fun of me? Is it because she thinks I stole everything from her? What should I do mother?" Helena cried pitifully in Tyren's arms once again.

Hearing this, it even made Tyren more furious. That girl keeps on ruining everything! And now she tries to bully her daughter?!

"Is what my daughter said true, Alexander?" Tyren asked, flashing a smile across her lips as she stared at Alexander who panicked because of her sudden smile. Tyren could see how much Alexander tried to calm himself despite the glint of fright in his eyes.

"Y-Yes mother... But it was only because of—"

"I see. No need to protect that sister of yours, Alexander. Isn't she the reason why your mother died? But be at ease, I'm here as your mother figure as well. Come here..." Tyren said as she opened her arm for Alexander.

Alexander who was hit in his heart, immediately went to Tyren and embraced her alongside Helena who was still sobbing. Alexander couldn't help but embrace Tyren, especially since he still craves his mother's affection that Felicia ruined.

"That wicked brat... I will never let her off the hook." Tyren said, whispering in their ears as she continued to comfort them. It was evident that there was something with her smile that made everyone feel creepy.

"I thank you, for entertaining me even if it's your brother's job. I appreciate it, Lady Felicia." Marquis Liam said as both of them walked towards the carriage that was parked outside the big gates.

"It's my pleasure. It's also my responsibility as the first lady of the Dukedom, to ensure that guests are being entertained while residing comfortably in our humble abode." Felicia replied, smiling sweetly at the Marquis Liam.

The Young Marquis smiled at her. Her answers were flawless, enough to fool a bastard. "It's okay. You don't have to pretend in front of me anymore." He replied, smirking while watching Felicia, waiting for her face to change in expression.

But all of that excitement faded away as Felicia never faltered in front of him. Her face was still the same as before, acting as if she didn't know what he had implied. Her head tilted, eyes blinking while smiling absently. Clearly establishing the image that she really didn't know what he was saying.

"What are you talking about, Young Marquis?" Felicia asked with an innocent smile across her face which made the Marquis laugh loudly because of her words. To think that she's playing the fool even though the Marquis had already caught a glimpse of her nature.

"I see... So this is how you play. Alright... I apologize for the mistake I made. It was rude of me to assume that you're hiding your personality. How rude it was for me to assume that a lady like you is prickly, covered with thorns despite the beauty of its nature." Liam said, laughing to himself.

"Young Marquis, please don't apologize. You didn't do anything bad that I can consider being rude." Felicia answered him as she put her palm on her cheek, acting all gleefully.

"I see. Well then, it's time for me to leave the estate but I assure you that I will often visit here. Maybe not for Alexander but to meet you of course. I had fun conversing with you, Lady Felicia. I hope that this relationship I build with you will never end." Liam spoke as he gently lifted her hand and placed it on his lips, brushing his lips into her soft skin.

Seeing how a man bows his head for her, Felicia's heart jumped in joy. But it was a joy different from feeling love, rather it was the satisfaction that she wanted in her life. In this world full of misogynistic men, she vows that she'll make everyone bow their heads and kneel for her mercy.

To achieve revenge after what they did to Felicia back in the novel. And now that she's living as Felicia, she will do anything to make this country bow their head for her and him only. She'll rule this country and destroy those people who did Felicia dirty—

"Are you okay, my Lady? Why are you smiling to yourself? Care to share the thing that made you smile?" Liam asked her which made her shake her eyes and blink multiple times. It seems that she was lost in her thoughts. Damn it.

"Nothing, I just remembered something fun that I did. Forgive me, Young Marquis." She immediately replied. God, why was she lost in her thoughts earlier? It's bad, especially since she was thinking about something sinister.

"Oh... I see. Well then, it's a pleasure to meet you but I must go back. I will never forget you, My Lady. At the very least, please accept this pen that I treasure the most." Liam said as he pulled out something from his pants— it was a pen.

"Treasured? Oh please don't, Young Marquis. You might need it and much worse I might lose it!" Felicia said in a panic mode. Of course, she was still acting, it's part of the plan to keep on acting like a weak and kind lady.

"No, I insist. Please accept this small gift of mine." Liam strongly said, putting the pen on her palm. "I shall promise to return and have tea with you, My lady!" The marquis added as he began to run back to his carriage.

Felicia stared at the pen in front of her. The pen had this exquisite design as if it was carefully crafted for that specific person. The carvings of the pen were marvellous and she could see a glimpse of glistening pieces of gems attached to the pen.

"Is this even cheap? I don't think so." Felicia thought to herself as she continuously stared at the pen, marvelling at its beauty. If not for the sounds of the horses, she wouldn't raise her head and wave at the Marquis.

As soon as the carriage disappeared from her sight, she hid the pen to herself, thinking that there might be a tendency wherein Helena or Alexander will try to accuse her of stealing this from someone and own them. She will never let them belittle her again.

"Not today, Satans. Not forever." She mumbled to herself, walking back to the place where the devils stayed and ready to ruin her life once again.
