Soham looked up at the divine being who wore his mother's face. Her words sank in slowly.
"Reborn?" he repeated in disbelief. "Is that possible?"
The radiant woman smiled benevolently. "For you, my child, yes, it can be done. I can send your spirit to take mortal form again in another realm that could use one of your courage and character."
Soham's mind spun as he contemplated her offer. To live again? In a totally new world? His grief over losing his parents still lingered. But the prospect of a fresh start beckoned like a light in the darkness.
"Can I...really be reborn?" he asked hesitantly. "What would it be like?"
"That depends on the realm," she replied. "But I believe I know just the place - one full of magic, adventure, and possibility. A realm from the stories you've always cherished."
Soham's eyes lit up at the description. A world of fantasy come to life! After so much hardship, this was a chance to make all his childhood dreams a reality.
"I want to do it," he declared, new excitement rushing through him.
The divine woman nodded, extending a slender hand. A portal materialized in the air before them - an oval of shimmering blue light.
"This passage will transport your spirit. Are you ready?"
Soham took a deep breath. This was it. His hand trembled slightly as he reached out and took hers. No matter what lay beyond, this was hope.
"I'm ready," he answered.
"Then go bravely," she said. "And know I will be watching over you."
Soham stepped forward into the glowing portal. Dazzling cerulean light enveloped him. The sensations overwhelmed his senses - falling and flying at the same time. But somehow, he felt calm and protected.
The light faded, and he passed into peaceful darkness. Soham knew then, his journey had just begun.
