"Chairman, may I enter? I have an important report to make." Clark was knocking on the Chairman's office.
The Chairman immediately recognize the voice so he let him in.
"We receive a report from the Makisig Guild that says they probably know what Light Reformation is."
"Tell me more about it."
"According to Makoy Dela Cruz story, the Light Reformation term is actually a name of a newly rising cult. It is expanding it's influence starting from Mindanao to Visayas and now it's trying to crawl it way into Luzon. Currently they don't know anything about the intentions of the cult however Light Reformation cult is using powers of awaken to awaken a normal person. Although, they still haven't verified whether it's true or not."
The information revealed by Clark was a shocking news to the Chairman. He didn't expect to hear that an awaken was able to awaken someone, such power is unique that even Archie couldn't do it.
If that person really exist in the Philippines. There will be endless possibilities for their country. He can already imagine it. However, such possibilities are only possible if the awaken that can do that is on their side. But what if, it's not? That person will become a very nasty opponent without a doubt.
While thinking, suddenly the Chairman questioned why he is only receiving such important information right now? As far as he remember, The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) was working with them.
They already have a vast network and solid human resources that allows them to easily investigate things issues like this.
The Chairman couldn't help himself but ask why they are so useless.
"Clark, my secretary is not around. Can I ask you for something?"
"Yes Chairman, what is it?"
"Can you go to the Human Resources Department? Inform them about the situation and ask them to send someone to investigate it."
"Copy that"
Clark left the room and return after 30 minutes.
"Chairman, I explained the whole situation to them but they don't have spare people to send. They even said that we barely even have a single agent to every city, majority of the awaken choose to be a Hunter instead. They suggest to ask help from NBI instead."
Although recruitment has done on a daily basis the number of awaken that is under the Hunter Association was very limited which is understandable considering they promote awaken to become a Hunter more than becoming an Agent. But now that something came up that does not include monster related situation, a small number working under them is really becoming a problem.
"I don't know what those NBI were doing but they are suppose to know about this and since it's awaken related issue, I should have receive information about it from them first and not from a Guild. I cannot entrust this to them if I want results fast. Those people are clearly incompetent and unreliable."
The Chairman voice out how displease he at them and Clark is not hard enough not to realize it.
"Should I go instead and investigate it?" Clark offered.
Mr. Soreso look at him before shaking his head.
"Archie isn't around. Without you here, the entire Hunter Association will be left unguarded. Besides, you have tons of work to do as well. I don't think that there is someone, aside from Joseph, that can take over your job that you will be leaving behind." The Chairman explains.
Clark also realize it. He is currently assign by Archie to manage the finances of their department and aside from that he is also taking care of Archie's money to support his enterprise. He can already take a guess that Archie wouldn't want his accounts be manage by people he didn't know and its also hard to left their department finances to the others. Unless its Mr. Joseph. Who's currently very busy to the point where he often forgot his lunch break.
"Don't worry about it, I will handle it somehow. You can now return to your work. If any relevant information come out, inform me immediately."
Clark nodded and left the room.
The Chairman pick up his phone and called someone. It didn't take long for the other side to answer.
"Oh, Soreso you called, what do you need?"
The person on the other side was the Secretary of Defense, Mr. Delarosa.
"Did you know anything about the new uprising cult? The Light Reformation cult that is expanding rapidly in the country?" The Chairman immediately talk, he doesn't have time to talk about nonsense topic to the Secretary of Defence.
"Right off the bat immediately huh? We'll that's fine. The lackey that was about to inform you about what we know is actually on his way in the Hunter Association. We didn't have teleportation magic circle here that's why transferring important information takes time."
The Chairman thinks that if the information is really important, why can't they just send it on email. But then the Chairman realize that the messenger probably has hard evidence with him, something that you cannot just take a picture with and send. If mana is involve they wouldn't know about it unless they personally saw it.
"Can you tell me about your findings?" The Chairman asks.
He is currently not in a position to wait for the messenger to arrive. His busy schedule doesn't include waiting on it.
"Your a hasty one." Mr. Delarosa told him but Mr.Soreso simply ignored him.
"Actually a group of awaken encompassing of high ranking one was behind that cult. The NBI still haven't confirmed whether or not the cult is really capable of awakening a normal person or not but according to rumors it can. Actually a spy was send there only to return empty handed because it cannot pass through the cults barrier. The intentions of the cult is still unclear and we can already take a guess that it's a no good cult considering how they erect a barrier that prevents us from going but doesn't prevent others from entering. We analyze that maybe the barrier is created on the same principle as Archie's barrier where it prevented certain types of people to enter it. Along with some weird objects that we somehow get our hands from those cult, we also send a formal request for an Agent to be sent here and investigate it. Hopefully you can provide one specially a high ranking one."
"We don't have any high ranking agents here, you know that right? Those high ranking awakened are usually refer to the guilds. We barely even have 40 mid rank Agents here."
"Sending a mid rank Agents to this mission is actually risky, can't you just issue a request to high ranking Hunters to investigate this cult? Any S-rank will do, since the cult has probably A-rankers with them."
"Ok, but if things were to go against what we hope for. What will be our course of action?"
"You are a former Lieutenant, you probably knows what will happen next. You better prepare yourself."
The Hunter Association Chairman could only sigh. There's nothing he can do about it, it's his job to take care of such matters.
"Yes, I'll send a request now. I'll end our call."
The call ended and immediately the Chairman makes another call.
"Dad you call." David's voice could be heard from the other side.
"Are you busy right now?"
"I am currently resting after doing some workout. Later in the afternoon, we will raid a lower A rank dungeon. Why do you ask Dad? Do you need me for something?"
"Yes I need you for something and it's very important. Can you leave the dungeon to your guild members?"
"Dad it's a lower A rank dungeon which contains monster of lower S rank class. It's dangerous for inexperience people to handle it. Although if I leave everything to Charlie, they probably be able to manage it somehow."
"No, I need Charlie to do another thing. Hmm.. How about this, let's combine the Guild Members of Maharlika Guild and your to conquer it. Do you think it's feasible?"
"Maharlike Guild is the Hawkeye, Christine Madrigal's guild right? Yeah with both my members and hers combine they can certainly close the gate even without Christine to participate."
"That's sounds good, let's do that. Actually I want you to team up with Christine and investigate the uprising cult there in Mindanao, it is called the Light Reformation Cult?"
"Light Reformation Cult? Is that related to the person that was imprisoned here 5 days ago?"
"Yes, I'll inform Christine about the request now. I think she will be a great help to this considering how sensitive she is to mana just like Archie. Before I forgot, tell Charlie to go pick up all members of Archie's family and send them to our house. I want them all within our premises within this day and tell Charlie and the others to not leave the house as well. And also wear your combat attire when going to the location that I'll be sending you."
Chairman's words worries David. A lot of things come to his mind that needed answers but he can feel the worry of the Chairman on his voice. David realize the severity of situation and what might happen, but he didn't ask his father. He didn't want it to feel more burden in his heart.
"Yes Chairman. I'll inform Charlie right away."
