"Everyone look at this boy! his name is Alex Robertson and he's the poorest person in out class, even his girlfriend left him for another because of his wretchedness, every year he gets the scholar because he's so poor and look at what he's spending it on" the girls mocked pointing at him, before anyone could realize it, one of the girls pushed him down without hesitation and he came crashing to the ground, looking at his handsome delicate well sharpened face, Camryn picked interest in him
"Alex don't you feel ashamed? you are so poor that you can't even do anything properly, and you even have the guts to come here and spend the school's money" one of the girls scarled, they made fun of him while making sure he was still on the dirty ground, with all these humiliation and taunting Alex didn't utter a word, one of the waiter walked up to him deliberately to take his orders
"Sir! what do you like to eat?" the waiter asked with giggle in his eyes
"give me two cheeseburgers and a large side of fries," Alex replied calmly, his voice filled with resilience. The girls burst into laughter, mocking him for his simple food choice.
The waiter, noticing Alex's calm demeanor despite the humiliation, took a step back and observed him closely. There was something about Alex that stood out amidst the chaos. He couldn't help but admire the young boy's composure and strength.
As the girls continued their taunting, Camryn, who had been silently observing the situation, felt a pang of empathy. She had always considered herself to be compassionate and fair-minded, and witnessing the mistreatment of Alex struck a chord within her.
She took a closer look at Alex, noticing his piercing blue eyes and clean, well-groomed appearance despite his circumstances. There was an air of quiet dignity about him that she couldn't ignore. Camryn realized that perhaps the girls' judgment of Alex was misguided.
Interrupting the taunts, Camryn spoke up, her voice laced with sincerity. "You know what, guys? Maybe we've got this all wrong. Alex may not have much, but that doesn't define who he is as a person. We shouldn't judge someone solely based on their financial situation."
The girls turned to Camryn, their expressions a mix of surprise and confusion. They had always seen Alex as an easy target, not worth their time or consideration.
Alex, still on the ground, looked up at Camryn, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. He had grown used to being the subject of mockery, but her words gave him a ray of light amidst the darkness.
Camryn extended her hand towards Alex, offering him help to get up. As she did so, the waiter, who had been witnessing the entire scene, looked at her with pleasure in his eyes
Camryn helped Alex to his feet. She looked into his eyes, earnestly apologizing on behalf of everyone. "I'm truly sorry for what happened, Alex. Please know that not everyone in this world is so judgmental. You deserve better."
Alex, still processing the sudden turn of events, nodded gratefully. "Thank you, Camryn. I appreciate your kindness. It means more to me than you can imagine."
"Wow! wow! wow! I'm not surprised, the wretched knows where to belong" one of the girls said mockingly glaring at Camryn with disdain in her eyes
"Off course, look at her, she looks so unkempt, even my maid looks better than her" one of the girls added
"Ignore them" Alex said and Camryn smiled
"You must know you scum bags that one is nothing in the society without money, no matter how kind you are, you will still be neglected when you have nothing to show for it, have that at the back of your mind, silly!" the third girl said and sneered
