Alex trusted Lilly with his life. They had grown up together and had been in the same class since they had started school. So, it wasn't that difficult for him to reveal his secret to her.
And Kira was willing to reveal her secret which might give him some insights about the mysterious disappearances happening all over the city and even the whole world. And Kira revealed that she was a sanguine which raised numerous questions which Alex desperately wanted answers for.
Alex nodded at Lilly and Kira who were waiting for his answer and said, "O.k. Let's do it."
All of them nodded. Silence reigned for a few seconds which Lilly broke, "Okay then. I'll go first. Ahem... I'm an agent of the Supernatural Crime Bureau which is a government organization which deals with supernatural events and crimes."Lilly finished and then sheepishly smiled at Alex. Her secret wasn't that interesting but it wasn't the main event of this secret sharing meeting.
Alex nodded at Lilly and turned to Kira, "Why don't you go second? "
Kira nodded, not thinking much of it and started speaking. Her explanation lasted nearly five minutes but Alex and Lilly never lost interest as they intently listened to her story with raptured face.
Alex was absolutely gobsmacked after hearing everything from Kira. A sanguine other than him had already been created before by some government-funded experiment. It sounded very similar to what hai father had been doing before he had to flee after a subject had gone berserk.
Did another group pick up the project or did the berserk subject who was supposed to die didn't and gained control of himself? Then he became the sanguine progenitor.
If it were true then that might be the person that his father was talking about. After all, what could be more mysterious than an extinct race rising again without the knowledge of any other race?
So many of Alex's burning questions were answered at once that his brain couldn't digest the information. He needed time to think through it.
"Alex. " Lilly's call pulled him out of his thoughts and then he realized that both of them were looking at him, ready to hear his secret.
He cleared his throat and began recounting his experiences from his awakening as a vampire to finding the book left by his father and then turning into a sanguine. He left nothing out.
Lilly's and Kira's eyes widened so much that they nearly popped out of their sockets as they listened to Alex's experiences. It was simply out of their realm of understanding, especially Lilly.
"So that's why I got free of Ken's control after drinking your blood. Because technically you are a Sanguine progenitor too. " Kira said with a wide smile. Lilly just silently stared at Alex. Alex too was lost in his own thoughts.
The three of them stood there silently, in the dark alleyway in the middle of the night like some ghosts.
But the silence was broken by Kira, "So you think your father was the one who made Ken a sanguine? "She asked.
Alex was jolted out of his thoughts and he turned towards Kira, "I think there is a slight chance."
And then Lilly suddenly broke her silence and said, "I don't think it's true. "
"Why? "Alex and Kira asked in sync.
Lilly's face suddenly turned sour but she still said, "Well if Ken was your father's berserk subject then your father definitely should have left you with Ken's details. But he didn't. So, it's either your father withheld information about Ken from you for some reason or that Ken was turned into a sanguine later on by some other group of scientists who lost control of Ken as your father did of that berserk subject of his and your father might have heard about it. "
"It's plausible. "Alex said trying to look like he was understanding what Lilly was saying but he didn't understand a single bit. He needed time to think.
"Let's go back to my house. "Alex said "We'll figure it out tomorrow. I need to sleep now. "He added as he walked away. Kira quickly followed him and Lilly also followed but a nit hesitantly. This was the first time she was going to be sleeping at Alex's house.
