Chapter 22 - Chapter 22: Veiled Connections(part-2)

POV: Lilly

Lilly walked back home after school, her head spinning with a whirlwind of thoughts. The strange aura emanating from Alex had left her deeply unsettled. It reminded her of the day they had gone to the cinema together – a day that now seemed so distant, almost like a memory from another lifetime. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something had changed in him since then.

The sight of the bite mark on Alex's neck had only intensified her worries. He seemed to be hiding the mark but she had still seen it and It looked eerily familiar, resembling the unmistakable marks left by vampires. She tried to push away the nagging thought, but she couldn't help but consider the connection between Alex's change and the unexplained disappearances in the city.

Determined to protect her friend and uncover the truth, Lilly decided to take matters into her own hands. The Supernatural Crime Bureau (SBC) had issued warnings about a new pureblood supernatural being on the loose, and she needed to patrol the area to check if there was any sighting of the pureblood. And on the way check on Alex and see what he was up to.

As an agent of the SBC, Lilly felt a profound sense of responsibility. She had been trained to confront and neutralize supernatural threats, and she couldn't stand idle while her city and friends were in potential danger. Patrolling the Starlight School area, where she had encountered Kyle, seemed like a reasonable step to take.

The bite mark on Alex's neck haunted her thoughts. The mere idea of losing him was unbearable. He was more than just a friend; he was a companion who had been with her through thick and thin. She couldn't allow anything to happen to him.

Her mind raced, as she tried to make sense of the connection between Alex, the mysterious pureblood, and the city's eerie disappearances. The puzzle pieces seemed to fit together, but she knew she needed solid evidence before jumping to conclusions. There might be some connections or it might just be a simple coincidence. She shouldn't rush to conclusions. That was what her mother had taught her.

Lilly's reason for becoming a SBC agent was rooted in their painful past. The memory of her older sister, taken away by a vampire's savage act, fueled her determination to eradicate supernatural threats. Her sister's loss had been a turning point in her life, leading her down the path of becoming an SBC agent. It had been a day that had forced her to change and take a path that most sixteen-year-olds wouldn't even think of.

She had hoped that by joining the bureau, she could contribute to a world where humans could live without fear of the supernatural. Her mother's guidance and leadership as the team captain inspired her, and she felt a deep sense of purpose in carrying on her mother's legacy.

As she continued her walk home, memories of her sister flashed before her eyes. She missed her more than words could express, and it was her memory of her that strengthened her resolve. She couldn't allow anyone else to suffer the same tragedy. This mission was personal – it was a tribute to her sister and a promise to protect others.
