The next day,
As the day waned, Alex's thoughts swirled with a mix of concerns. Lilly's distant demeanour continued to trouble him, and he found himself replaying their interactions, searching for any hints that could shed light on her underlying troubles. However, he was determined not to pry; he knew that if Lilly wanted to share, she would do so in her own time.
Sighing, he returned home from school, his footsteps echoing in the hallway as he ascended the stairs. Lilly's behaviour was a weight on his mind, but he pushed it aside as he entered his room. Gathering a set of clean clothes, he made his way to the adjoining room, where Kira was staying.
"Hey," he greeted softly, knocking on the door before entering. Kira looked up from the holographic device she had been engrossed in. Her eyes met his, and a small smile tugged at her lips.
"Hi, Alex," she replied, her voice carrying a hint of warmth.
"I thought maybe we could watch a show together in the living room," he suggested. Kira had been holed up in the room for days. So, he had to do something to entertain himself.
"Maybe. Take her out sometime."Alex thought.
Kira nodded, setting aside the device she had been watching something on. They descended the stairs, settling onto the couch in the living room. The holographic display illuminated the room as they lost themselves in the captivating visuals of the show.
As the show played, Kira eventually turned to Alex. "Hey, Alex, after this, do you mind if I take a bath? It's been a while."
"Sure thing," he agreed, a smile forming on his lips. "Do you need some clothes to change into?"
Kira's expression shifted into one of consideration. "That would be great. But I don't think your mom has anything that would fit me."
Alex scratched his head, pondering the situation. "Yeah, you're right. I don't think she has anything that would work."
An idea sparked in his mind, but he quickly dismissed it. Offering her his clothes wouldn't be appropriate, especially since they weren't romantically involved. He felt a slight blush forming on his cheeks at the thought.
Buying new clothes wouldn't be cheap and on top of that, he didn't have much credit left with him.
Suddenly, a solution emerged. "I'll call Ryan," he thought. "Hopefully, he can lend me some credits"
He excused himself and went to the bathroom where he discreetly called Ryan and asked to borrow some credits. Ryan agreed and sent him a hundred credits instantly.
'Having rich friends is nice. 'Alex thought as he came back to the living room and sat beside Kira.
"How about buying some new clothes? " Alex said to Kira who was engrossed on the show.
Alex's voice pulled Kira out of the show. She hesitated as she thought about what Alex had said. She could see that Alex's family's financial condition wasn't that good but there wasn't another option either. She needed some clothes. After a moment of hesitation, Kira nodded. "I'll pay you back later. "
Alex smiled as he waved his hand dismissively and said, "Let's go then. "
Kira nodded as both stood and got ready. And a couple of minutes later, they left the house, the glow of the holographic display fading behind them.
