Chapter 39 - Asura's defeat

Asura shouted "Heaven Breaking Fist" while Surya also shouted his Battle Skill name "Kangaroo Kick". Both fist and kick collided and created a deafening sonic boom. The sound was so loud that some cultivators had to cover their ears to avoid going deaf from the noise.

The stage cracked after this collision. Both Asura and Surya retracted their fist and kicked leg respectively. When Asura looked at his hand that was vibrating due to colliding with the Kangaroo Kick, Surya's leg was also not feeling any better. He had some pain in his leg which he never felt when colliding with others Battle skills.

Surya complimented, "Not bad, your battle skill really has some ability."

Asura replied, "Your kangaroo kick is also powerful. It made my fist numb."

Then they started to collide again. Each collision made a sonic boom sound. They started to feel the pain, but neither of them retreated. They were fighting as if there was no tomorrow.

After some time, they retracted at the same time. They both had some bruises on their bodies but they didn't care about it. By looking at them, anyone could see they were fully enjoying their match.

Asura and Surya stood there, breathing heavily, their eyes locked in a fierce determination. The spectators watched in awe as the two warriors prepared for another round of intense combat.

Asura's mind raced with strategies, trying to find a weakness in Surya's Kangaroo Kick. "I must find an opening," he thought. "Surya's speed is incredible, but there has to be a way to counter it."

Surya, too, was analyzing Asura's Heaven Breaking Fist, searching for a vulnerability. "He's good at predicting my moves," he acknowledged. "I need to be more unpredictable."

With renewed determination, they charged at each other once more. The clash of their Battle skills again created shockwaves that rippled through the arena, making it tremble under the immense force.

Asura's fist and Surya's kick collided multiple times, each exchange pushing them to their limits. The intensity of the battle continued to escalate, and they exchanged blows with a ferocity that left the spectators in awe.

"You're getting better, Asura," Surya admitted, impressed by his opponent's tenacity.

"As are you, Surya," Asura replied, his admiration for Surya's skill was evident in his tone. "Your speed and power are unmatched."

But in reality, Surya was toying with Asura; he was just increasing his power and strength enough to tie with Asura. If Surya wanted to end this match quickly, Asura might not be able to stop him.

When Surya was toying with Asura, the Li family's leader's voice echoed in his mind: "Don't play too long, just end this already."

Surya had planned to play with Asura a little longer, but now he heard the command, and he had to end this quickly.

Suddenly, Surya's strength and speed increased dramatically, and Asura was not able to fight with Surya equally anymore.

Asura was surprised by this and thought, "Is he holding back until now? How can his speed and strength increase so suddenly?"

In a few moves, Surya fully dominated Asura and said to him, "If you don't use your spiritual attack now, you will lose this match."

Coincidentally, Asura was also thinking the same thing, so he started to gather his spiritual energy. Surya didn't interrupt him; he had full confidence in his spiritual attack, and he knew he could defeat Asura whenever he wanted. However, he wanted to defeat him at his peak stage, so he didn't interrupt Asura and silently gathered his spiritual energy.

Asura was ready to release his spiritual attack, and he thought, "My victory or defeat depends on this move. I have to give my all in this move."

Meanwhile, Surya sensed a crisis from Asura. His experiences in many deadly assignments had developed an instinct that saved his life countless times. He was in confusion about whether to take Asura's spiritual attack head-on or avoid it and then counter with his own spiritual attack. The reason for his confusion was that the crisis he sensed was small compared to facing a life-and-death situation, so he believed the worst that could happen was being seriously injured but not killed. Therefore, he decided to face it head-on.

Asura shouted, "Total annihilation!" and Surya responded in a low voice, "Silent killer."

Their spiritual attacks collided, shaking the entire arena. The spectators could see that Asura's golden spiritual attack turned black upon touching something, and that something was Surya's invisible spiritual attack, which was pushed back.

Surya thought to himself, "How is this even possible? It's not just pushing back; it's annihilating my spiritual attack. Could it be because of that black color that appears when his spiritual attack comes in contact with mine? It looks like I have to go all out."

Surya didn't hold back any longer and went all out. The crowd was surprised to see that Surya was still holding back before, but now he was truly giving it his all. The spectators cheered for both fighters, never having seen such an interesting match before.

Meanwhile, Xie Ling and his mother were deeply worried about Asura because they knew this battle wouldn't end with minor injuries.

Even after releasing his full power, Surya could only equal Asura's spiritual power. Both of them were in a deadlock, and this situation continued for a long time. Neither of them wanted to retreat, and the intensity of the battle showed no signs of waning.

After a few moments, Surya had a thought and decided to withdraw his "Silent Killer" spiritual attack. Asura's "Total Annihilation" rushed towards Surya, but he evaded it with unimaginable speed. After dodging the attack, Surya released his spiritual attack again, but this time it had less than half of its original strength.

Surya was surprised to see that his attack had significantly less power than expected. He had thought he had enough energy to unleash his spiritual attack at half its original strength, which should have been more than enough to kill Asura quickly. However, the reality disappointed him.

The surprise attack caught Asura off guard and sent him flying outside the stage. Dust covered the surroundings, obscuring the view. When the dust settled, people could see Asura's upper clothes torn apart, and his body was covered with serious injuries, giving anyone who looked at him a scare. Asura had become unconscious from the impact.

The crowd fell silent, not knowing how to react. Eventually, some of Surya's fans shouted loudly, congratulating him for winning the tournament. Others followed suit, congratulating him on his victory. However, some people looked at Surya's left hand with a strange expression.

Curious, Surya followed their gaze and was shocked to find out what had caused their surprise.
