Chapter 4 - "The realization"

In order to gather information about this world, I decided to tell her I had amnesia. It seemed like the best excuse rather than revealing that I was from a different world, as this explanation would sound more believable.

The good thing was, she was drinking on the night when I switched into her body, making it a perfect excuse that I got intoxicated, and my brain function erred in the process.

Adelaide still couldn't grasp the idea of what I had told her; she looked at me dumbfounded, not even knowing what to say.

After a while, she abruptly stood up, making me flinch.

"Oh geez, you scared me."

"W-we should call a doctor!" She shouted and walked away.

"Wha- wait no!" I hastily grabbed her wrist and she looked my way.

"Princess you should have told me sooner! Now I understand why you were acting weird since this morning." She said and tried to pull away my hands.

This is bad, I don't think anyone should know about this.

"I'm perfectly fine! See, I'm not bleeding anywhere!" I assured her.

"You were complaining you had a headache and I worry you must be internally bleeding. I'll go ask for help." She said still pulling me away.

"I understand you're worried, but hear me out! My head hurt because of the wine I drank yesterday. I just need you to tell me who I am and what this place is. Since we were friends even before, I'd like you to tell me about that!" I said, still holding onto her wrist, refusing to let go.

She stopped pulling me away and looked back at me with a pitiful gaze. "Your Highness," she said, tears welling up in her eyes as she heard me explain myself.

"Please..." I bowed down to her. "Please tell me what's going on."

She sighed and hugged me.

The hug lasted a while and she spoke softly, "I know you had been through a lot, I guess it is best for you to forget about all those heavy burdens you had been carrying for so long." She caressed my head.

"I know more than anyone else how much effort you put into to please the ones you love. And for that, I'm happy I became your maid." Her eyes were teary but smiled sweetly.

I know her words were not meant for me, but it made me feel all fuzzy and warm inside. No one has ever told me that even in my past life, my eyes began to tear up.

"Since you forgot what happened, I hope you won't remember the painful things you went through as well. Maybe this is the God's blessing you to be happy and turn a new Princess!" Her eyes glimmered again finding hope for the Princess to become happier.

I chuckled at her remarks and after that, she told me the story of when they were still young.

Princess Zinnia Florian De Collete was a cheerful child growing up, she was close with her brother Theodoric Odel and sister the first Princess Dahlia Flora and they met Zemislav Svend Piers and all four of them played a lot together.

Adelaide said that Zemis came from a reputable family whose father was the Grand Duke, Zemislav's father was close with the King and so they could get to play with him because of that, but along the way, it seems that the Grand Duke betrayed the King for some reason and they were stripped off from their title.

They were supposed to be stripped of completely from their title and become commoners but the King showed mercy and only lowered their title into count and had them move to a place far away from the capital.

Many years had passed and Zemislav came back to the capital to prove their innocence, it seems Zemislav became a brilliant scholar and had built his reputation for over the years from the town they lived in, with the help of Theodoric, Dhalia, and the former Zinnia. Zemislav's family got their title back as Grand Duke and Duchess.

"But..." Adelaide paused for a minute and looked down.

"After that, Lord Theodoric and Lord Zemislav told everybody that they were in love and they were destined pairs."

"But it seems you did not take that lightly, and you mentioned to me before that you loved Zemislav ever since we were kids, you couldn't bear the fact that Lord Zemislav fell for Lord Theodoric."

"Destined pairs?" I questioned.

"Yes, we didn't find out until late that Lord Zemislav was an omega."

I see, this world was one of alphas and omegas, but I still don't know if it's from a BL story I had watched or read before. However, I'm getting closer to figuring it out.

I mean, if I had watched the movie adaptation, I should have recognized it by now. Manhwa and manga are also out of the question, which means this must be from a novel I had read. In novels, they rarely show the characters, and they only describe their features.

"Hmmm," I held my chin and squinted my eyes.

"Princess? Should I continue?" Adelaide questioned.

"Wait just a minute."

I thought I was getting somewhere, but even after hearing Adelaide's story, it still didn't ring a bell.

Most characters who get isekai'd would probably know where they got teleported into right away, but I can't seem to figure it out. I think I might just be dumb, and that's why I still don't know.

I sighed, "Okay, proceed." I told her.

"Is everything okay? Is your head aching again?" She worriedly said.

"I'm all good! Please continue!" I smiled.

Even though she was worried, she obeyed my wishes and continued with the story.

According to Adelaide, after Zemis and Theo revealed their relationship to everyone, Zinnia didn't take it well. In her frustration, she resorted to a heinous crime against Zemis while under the influence of alcohol.

Overwhelmed by the news and consumed by guilt, she hatched a plan to deceive Zemis into meeting up, pretending it was a rendezvous with Theo, but the real intention was to kidnap him and keep him for herself.

Fortunately, Theo saw through the ruse and promptly rescued Zemis. Upon Zemis' request, Theo forgave Zinnia, but this event resulted in Theo harboring resentment towards Zinnia, while Zemis felt betrayed by her actions.

After that incident, Zinnia sank into a deep depression, isolating herself from the world. She sought solace in wine to numb her pain and forget the harm she had caused to Zemis.

After that, I was in her body.

It's a bit weird to know I have quite a similar name to Zinnia in this world, although the spelling is different—she's Zinnia while my name is Zinya, and we share the same last name, Collete.

Talking a lot with Adelaide, we both didn't realize the day had ended and night had come.

A lot has happened today, and I told Adelaide that I won't have dinner and I'll be sleeping early. So, she left the room, leaving me alone to contemplate.

I changed into a comfortable nightgown and laid down on my comfy bed.

The bed is quite comfortable; my bed was also comfortable back then, but this is on another level. As I cozied up in bed, it struck me.

Alas! I know what novel I was isekai'd into! Of course, how in the world did I forget this masterpiece!

Aacckk! How dumb can I be! It was weird that the character I became has a similar name to mine. I rumpled my hair and rolled over in bed.

I reincarnated in a world of omegaverse! The novel was quite unique because the norm would be for females to pair up with other females and males with other males. Romance between females and males was considered unique, like a reverse role in the real world.
