Chapter 5 - "What are the odds"

I reincarnated in the novel titled "The Secretary Becomes A Queen." And all along I was the antagonist of the story.

The reason it took me so long to remember the novel is that I last read it a year ago!

While I'm happy that I now know the title, I'm also disappointed in myself for only recalling the main storyline and big events, not to mention the steamy segs in the special chapters. (FYI 'Segs' mean s*x, just want to clarify that.)

Apart from that, I've forgotten some of the characters' names as well.

Thinking back, Adelaide helped me quite a bit.

The fortunate part is that this was the stage when Zinnia had only attempted to kidnap Zemis for the first time. I recall that Zinnia had trouble waking up in the morning due to excessive drinking, and Adelaide hurried to get a physician.

It took a few days until Zinnia finally regained consciousness, but from then on, she changed drastically for the worse. Even though Adelaide recognized that Zinnia had turned into a monster, she couldn't defy her orders and ended up assisting Zinnia with her evil schemes.

As Zinnia continued with her deceitful tricks, Theo's fury towards her grew, and he tried his best to get rid of her because she made their relationship as a couple even more challenging.

Eventually, they managed to force her to leave, and she was banished to an empty manor on the outskirts of the country, ensuring they would never have to see her again.

Since Adelaide had an alpha mate who held significant influence in the capital, they decided to give her a probationary house arrest for a couple of months.

This meant that Zinnia was left all alone in the manor to fend for herself – no maids, no caretaker, nothing, just a roof over her head.

Although nothing else was mentioned afterward, I distinctly recall feeling sorry for her. Despite being a Princess, she had never received much attention.

Princess Dahlia commanded the army of knights, while Prince Theo was the heir to the throne, and everyone was busy admiring them.

Zinnia, on the other hand, lacked any significant talents, and her parents never held her in high regard, only greeting her on certain occasions like parties and such.

Given that the aristocrats were aware of her infatuation with Zemis and her attempted kidnapping, nobody dared to approach her, leaving her as an outcast.

To add to her woes, her omega fiancé was in love with Dahlia as well. Her only true friend was Adelaide, but Adelaide felt powerless to speak her mind and help Zinnia, believing she had no right to do so.

In this bleak situation, Zemis emerged as one of the few who showed genuine concern for her.

Err well kinda.

Zemis only helped her on a few occasions, mainly due to her clumsiness, but even that small amount of affection provided her with a glimmer of hope and light.

As a result, she became obsessed with him.

Most people would say that she deserved it because she became crazy in love with the MC, she was kind of being a yandere at that point because she was hungry for affection.

(*Yandere: Is a person who is obsessive and possessive in regards to their crush, ready to use violent and murderous means to maintain an exclusive bond.)

I believe it was the parents' fault; had they shown her some affection, her descent into yandere behavior might have been avoided. At the beginning, she was kind, quiet, and calm, but everything changed when she experienced affection for the first time – she became obsessed and greedy for more.

With a heavy sigh, I gazed up at the red ceiling, contemplating my situation.

Now, I must figure out ways to avoid being thrown out and seek a peaceful life. I'm grateful for becoming a Princess and having a wealthy family, so perhaps I should consider starting a business and leave this place for the sake of the main characters.

One thing is for sure, I won't become a yandere like her!

Zemis might be freaking cute, but I like a more masculine guy who'd turn soft for the people they like hehe~

Unable to sleep, I strolled towards my balcony. My room was on the third floor, offering a breathtaking view of the entire rose garden down below.

Closing my eyes, I embraced the gentle breeze brushing past my face, and strangely, I caught the scent of peaches in the air. Carefully, I peered down at the garden and spotted Theo and Zemis sitting on a bench beside the grand water fountain, engaged in a passionate make-out session.

It dawned on me that I had sensed Zemis's sweet peach pheromone earlier when they approached me. This detail aligned perfectly with the novel's description of him.

Ah I remembered this scene, this is when they had a small fight and Zemis was crying and then Theo went to apologize, after that, they had steamy 'segs'.

I could clearly see Theo was on top of Zemis, they were both sweating and panting profusely kissing each other.

I would love to go into more detail regarding what they did, but I'd prefer not to because it irks me to be watching them engage in something naughty from up my room.

As their exercise became more vigorous, the sweet peach scent coming from Zemis became stronger, Knowing that I can smell Zemis means that Theo still did not bite Zemis' neck yet.

In the omegaverse, once an alpha bites the neck of an omega during heat, the bond is completed, and other alphas no longer smell the omega's pheromones. Only the alpha who bit them retains this ability.

Now, as I witnessed them engaging in the act with my own eyes, I strangely felt no excitement at all. Instead, I felt a sense of discomfort, almost like a feeling of disgust.

When I read about this scene before, my heart pounded, and I found it cute and exciting. I wondered why my reaction was so different now.

With a heavy sigh, I returned to my room, not wanting to continue watching them any longer. I closed the door to my balcony and went back to bed, where I slept soundly like a log.

"Hic- why, why does no one love me." Sobbed a small child.

It appeared that Zinya, our dear main character, was dreaming, but the dream wasn't filled with rainbows and unicorns; instead, it felt sorrowful and sad.

"Hey," said the crying child, looking at Zinya. "Do you think I'm also incapable of love?"

Unable to respond, Zinya could only gaze into the child's golden eyes.

She extended her right arm, hoping to caress the crying child, but for some reason, she couldn't touch her.

Distraught, she felt the child's sorrow, yet she couldn't draw any closer or utter any words.

Feeling utterly helpless in her own dream, Zinya began to tear up as she saw the miserable child right in front of her, unable to provide any comfort or reply to her questions.

"Why are you crying?" the child questioned gently.

"It's not your fault." The child said and went closer to Zinya.

"It's not your fault," the child assured her, moving closer to Zinya. She tenderly took Zinya's hand and fiddled with her palm, giving her a warm smile.

"I hope-"

The child did not complete her sentence.

It seems that a certain maid awoke Zinya's slumber.

"Princess Zinnia wake up! It's morning!" Adelaide Shouted, shaking me vigorously.
