Protector(Part 3)
For a while, Stacy simply sat there on the couch watching television. It wasn't until she felt the urge to do something else that she turned off the TV and headed upstairs to get some chores done.
She planned on visiting her friend later in the afternoon, so for now, she would do her chores while listening to some music.
As stressful as it was, she was finally done with all the chores for the day. Looking at the time, she realized that it was already twelve in the afternoon. Heading into her room, she got ready and left the house for her friend's place.
The previous day, she told her dad that she would be visiting her friend, so he knew not to worry if he came back home and saw that the house was empty.
Her friend lived just a few houses away from her, and after walking fir a few minutes, she had made it to her friends house.
Since she was getting bored at home she thought it would be best to spebd some time with her friend. The two would also catch up on some important school work in preparation for the next day.
In essence, the two worked hard, but also shared a lot of laughs as they watched movies together, and also talked about the people in their lives. It was mostly Maya doing all the talking, since Stacy was barely allowed to leave the house.
"So, how are things with you and Kevin?" She suddenly asked, not wanting to bring yo this topic until she felt like it was the right time to do so. "I had to leave before I could help you out. I hope he didn't harm you?" She asked, looking at her friend's arm.
"He was being really rough with you. You shouldn't have allowed yourself to fall in love with someone like him," she said bluntly, not even regretting the way her words came out of her mouth. She didn't care that her friend might get offended by what she just said, she was more worried about her friend getting mistreated by a stupid guy.
"Stacy, don't say stuff like that! You know you're being negative, right? Relax. He didn't do anything back to me. Look, there isn't even a Mar where he grabbed my wrist," she said, shoving her wrist in her friend's face. "Do you see anything?"
Stacy took a good look at the wrist before looking back at Maya.
"Don't you know you have an ability? You are able to heal from little injuries like that. And don't think you can fool me," Stacy rolled her eyes as she folded her arms. "I can't believe you would let a guy treat you like that. If I were in your shoes, I would make sure he pays for what he did," she said, shaking her fist.
Maya didn't know what to do or say. As much as she wanted to defend get boyfriend, she couldn't help but admit that what Stacy was saying was the truth. Still, there was a part of her that didn't want to end things with him.
"I understand, but still, Stacy, you know how much I love him. I can't just leave him just like that," Maya responded, tears welling up in her eyes. "He… he's been there for me since our freshmen days, when the other boys would try to bully me.
"I was just 14 back then, and everyone was picking on me because I didn't have my ability yet. I was always made fun of and some of the girls would eventually attack me when I wasn't paid attention.
"But Kevin, when he saw what the others were doing to me, he stood up for me. He defended me. And even after I got my ability, he would always find time out of his day to teach abd encourage me on how to use my ice powers.
"I didn't know when or how it happened, but I fell in love with him. Abd I can't just leave him after everything he's done for me over the years. Sure, these days he's been acting like a jerk, but he's still the same boy I meant back then," Maya tried to defend her boyfriend's behavior towards her.
Listening to everything she had said, Stacy had a blank expression on her face.
"In that case, I hope you're right," she decided to give her friend the benefit of the doubt as the conversation shifted to lighter topics. Hours later, abd it was getting late. After bidding get friend farewell, she left the house and headed straight home.
"Maya, I'm just trying to look out for you…" she said under her breath, arriving at the entrance to her house. "Since I have all this free time left, I guess I can use it to get some work out done before tomorrow."
Later that night, her dad came back home. Since he was busy throughout the day, and she didn't have much to do, she decided to make dinner for him before he came back, abd he was more than happy to see his daughter concerned for him like so.
He happily enjoyed his dinner as the two talked about the day they had.
"That guy sounds like a certified asshole. I hope that friend of yours realizes soon enough and dumps him before he does something even more stupid that what he's already done," Jake said.
As the two ate their dinner, a thought suddenly clicked in her mind.
"Wait! Dad, how did you get to the office today?" She asked him.
Jake raised an eyebrow in confusion when he heard her question.
"Ahh! You must be referring to what happened to the car. Well, it's badly damaged, but what can I do? I reported the case to the authorities and they said that they would 'do' something about it," he replied. "So, I had to take a taxi to work today. Not as bad as having to drive if you ask me," he said with a chuckle.
She couldn't stop thinking about what he would do now that his car had been badly damaged. For one, he wasn't rich to begin with. That car of his was one he had saved a large portion of his past savings to purchase. With the kind of money his job pays him, it's less than likely that he would be able to afford a car like that ever again in his life.
And even if the car is able to be repaired, she couldn't imagined the cost for fixing such a manhandled vehicle.
While she thought about this, his tone suddenly became serious as he had something more to say.
"I saw what that person wrote on the front," he said, taking a sip of water. "Stacy… I'm not sure if you should leave the house, at least not before this person is caught and thrown in prison. I don't want someone hurting you, sweetheart."
This was when the realization began to hit. While thinking about the cost of things, she had forgotten about the message the person had left on the car the previous day. Surely, her dad would have seen it earlier in the morning before heading of to work.
Now, she would have to find a way to deal with the overprotective side of her father.
'What am I gonna do now?' she lamented, her head slumping against the table.
Despite her reluctance to comply with his order, Jake wouldn't relent. He knew that whatever he was doing was for her safety, and before she heads back to school, whoever had vandalized his car should first be held in custody.

Somewhere in a large building, a bunch of people were moving back and forth from one place to another, doing a whole lot of different things. There were those who would carry paper files from one place to another. There were those bringing in criminal to be datained. There were also those who were scanning evidence to track down culprits who committed crimes in the city.
While a large portion of the city's defence had been deployed to fight against the Shale, the people who had been running things for the rest of the city were mainly rookies still in training.
Still, it was safe to say that they were doing a good job with dealing with crime going on in the city. The crime rate was being regulated, and no high-scale crime operation had been carried out under their work. The city was relatively peaceful. Well, the part that wasn't yet under attack.
Seated at a desk, a man was casually sipping his coffee while reading a complaint that was filled just this morning. As his eyes glazed over the contents of the document, he felt the urge to just toss it aside, when his eyes suddenly fell on something that caught his interest.
"I will kill you," he read out loud what was written on the image of the damaged vehicle.
