Chereads / Beast Driven System / Chapter 69 - Two Down

Chapter 69 - Two Down

The military academy was meant to be a place where teenagers from the age of 16 were able to train and sharpen their skills and abilities to help in a potential future. But not just that, there were other groups that were slowyrisung as well. Humanity currently has more than one enemy to deal with.

Yet, despite all that, cases of students going rogue were beginning to turn frequent. First, it was during the magical weapons class the previous day, then it was the previous class today, then now.

Looking at the series of events, Lucas was starting to worry that there truly was more to this that they were still unaware of.

"Don't think that just because you're an instructor that I'll go easy on you. You're meant to be strong right? So prove your strength by going all out against me!" The student yelled, the lightning surrounding his body moving in all sorts of directions.

Despite the situation taking place, the other students had chosen to ignore what was going on, focusing mainly on their respective fights. But then, it was at that point that the student's lightning began affecting any and everyone it came in contact with, shocking that student till they lost consciousness.

"Ahh! What's going on! Why is Jerry attacking everyone?!"

"It's just like what happened before! I can tell. Look at him! His eyes! He's gone rogue!"

The students began to panic as they scattered all across the classroom. Meanwhile, the other instructors had noticed what was taking place, and quickly rushed towards Lucas to ask just what was going on.

"He's gone rogue! We need to deal with him before more students get hurt! Or before something even worse happens!" He yelled, but looking at the student and his power, he began second guessing himself as to whether he was capable of dealing with him.

'I hope that lightning doesn't affect me too much. Hopefully, my body is strong enough to withstand whatever power boost he's gotten. Well, there's no point just standing around, waiting to find out. I have to act, before everyone here gets freaking electrocuted!' he yelled in his mind, charging forward.

"Man, you must really be foolish thinking that you can take me on! I must remind you, I'm not like those two you had faced earlier," The student named Jerry said, raising both his arms in the air, then bringing them back down, pointing them straight at the instructor. "I'm far stronger!"

A large current of lightning had shit out, and with his speed, Lucas was able to dodge the attack, and was now preparing one of his own, hoping that with the brief moment between attacks, that he would be able to land one of his own.

Meanwhile, the other instructors quickly went to work deflecting any stray attacks from the students, leaving Lucas to deal with the student on his own.

'Just why are there more and more students turning out like this?' Shawn couldn't help but wonder, as he and the other students were standing closely behind one of the instructors, the one who wielded a magical weapon that looked like a wand. With it, he was able to shoot out energy beans that would cancel out the lightning bolts.

However, since there were so many of them coming out at once, he had to remain extra focused on the task at hand, and was unable to pay close attention to the students behind him.

Lucas had gotten close enough to the student, and although small zaps of lightning would strike him, it barely had an effect on his body. Then, before the student could generate another attack, his fist had collided with the side of his face.

Since his entire body was covered in lightning, the impact had caused Lucas to feel a large amount of shock run through his entire body. He felt a strong force grasping his fist tightly, not willing to let go as his body shook uncontrollably.

However, despite that, he ensured that he wasn't holding back in that attack, and with the full force it his power, the student's body Rose from the ground, going up in the air as his body flew backwards, heading straight towards the wall, before crashing right into it and falling towards the ground.

Not waiting for the student to get back up, Lucas had rushed towards him once more, ready to end the fight as soon as possible.

'This is my chance!' Kayden yelled in his mind, ready to sprint forward once again. 'I will complete this week to no matter what it takes!'

There was still lightning surrounding the student's body. Still, he was finding it difficult to get back up after that single blow. Seizing this opportunity, the instructor had gripped him by the throat, raising his body up in the air.

"As much as I dislike torturing children, I'm afraid that I have to admit that your case is an exception. In the end, you're simply under the influence of some mysterious power," he said, applying more pressure on the throat, making it hard for the student to breathe. "I hope so."

Jerry considered attacking the instructor, seeing as all his focus was now on choking him till he lost consciousness. As the sparks of lightning began to form around his hands, he suddenly felt a set of razor-sharp claws strike him right into his abdomen.

He felt the strike cut deep into his flesh, drawing out blood as the impact had caused him to cough out blood as well.

"What?!" Lucas asked, his eyes wide open in shock. "Just what the heck happened?" He wondered, turning his attention back towards the group of students standing behind him.

'Yes! I actually did that again and somehow managed to not get caught!' Kayden thought, staring at the system notification before him.

[Sinister Quests: These are quests received that the system deems almost impossible for the host to complete. Therefore, managing to complete such quests will ensure a magnitude of rewards in return]

Kayden was not prepared for the large amount of information that blasted his view. Right now, he was too busy reading everything, while Lucas and the other instructors had further inspected the student, ensuring that he was truly out of the fight.

"It's strange. Who on Earth could have possibly landed the finishing blow? I wasn't paying attention since I was focused on other things, so I was really hoping that you guys would have an answer to this," he said, turning to face the other instructors.

"We're just as confused as you on the matter. While we were busy deflecting whatstray attack that would get too close to the students, we weren't quite paying attention. Perhaps one of the students had taken that brief opportunity of distraction to land a finishing blow to this student," one of them proposed, also thinking that the situation was quite strange.

"But why though? Don't they know that it's dangerous for them if they decide to face off against such a student? Was it something do to with a personal grudge or vandetta? I guess that makes more sense. The kids these days are more focused on things like that. What do you think?" Lucas asked.

"Whatever the case may be, the crises has been averted. The students are now save. Though, I believe it would be more accurate to say that a handful of them are blessed safe, as a bunch of them had been knocked out not only from the current situation, but also from the fights they were having with each other prior to the situation turning into the way it was," one of the instructors replied.

Once the crises was averted, the instructors had joined hands and helped carry the students to the infirmary to receive treatment. Seeing the large number of students coming in today, the woman stationed there felt like pulling her hair out.

"I knew I should've gone on that vacation when I still had the chance! Why on Earth did I even decide to stay here!" She yelled to herself, stomping her feet and throwing a tantrum like a child.
