Although all three of them were doing the best they could to channel out their Mana, the technique was proving difficult for them to grasp. Seeing this, the instructor decided not to pressure them too much with it, as there was still a lot of time left before the expedition course for them to learn the technique.
Kayla, who was in the fire class division, couldn't stop thinking about one thing in particular, that being the words of a certain person from a while back. She hadn't brought herself to tell Kayden everything about what was going on.
For one, there wasn't actually just one secret society at the academy. Although she didn't tell him this directly. There were actually two in number. So far, Kayla's attention was focused on the second one, since it was that organization that her elder brother worked for.
She didn't care too much about the first, since it didn't really seem to be active ever since the beginning of the school year. She wasn't even aware of what their goal was in the beginning, the same for the Shade.
For today, the fire class division instructor chose not to send her students into the simulation room since she felt like she could use today's class to teach her students a very useful technique, that being the one that Lucas was busy teaching his own students at the same time.
'Mana aura, huh? This seems interesting. Plus, with how much power I have now, I want to see what I can do with this new technique,' Kayla thought, as she closed her eyes and began to concentrate on the yellow energy flowing in her body.
'Hand on, I think I've figured it out!' the next second, and a bright yellow aura had covered her entire body, causing everyone in the classroom to turn their heads in direction, shocked to see what had just happened.
"What is that?! Did she activate a hidden transformation or something?!"
"Look at that bright glow! What is that?!"
"I think it has something to do with her ability! Man, she really is gifted with using her ability, huh?"
The students began to murmur to themselves after witnessing her take on such a form. In the first place, all she had done was exactly what the instructor had told them to, only that she had taken hers to a whole other level, imitating what Lucas had done.
'It seems like there is another talent amongst this set if students,' he thought, nodding his head.
'This…' Kayla was left speechless upon glancing at herself. She was surprised at what she had just done, as her eyes glanced upon everyone present. 'Is this really what I am capable of? Is this why mum and dad always say that I'm special?' a smile had suddenly appeared on her face.
'Well then, I might as well use this power of mine to knock some sense into my dimwitted brother!' she yelled in her mind, clenching both her fists together.
In the midst of her thought, a student had suddenly come charging towards her, but she was able to take note of this on time, raising both her arms up to block the strike. Needless to say, the force behind the blow hadn't done much to even make her move from her spot.
"Huh! Dan! When the heck did you even move?!" Kayden asked out loud, looking back and forth between where he stood and where Kayla stood. "Did you just teleport?!"
Meanwhile, Dan had a sinister look on his face, as he glared intently at her, before raising his knee in the air, aiming to strike her in the stomach. However, all it took from her was a single punch to the head to send him flying back to where he came from.
Seeing everything that had just happened, Kayden was left speechless.
'What's up with you wanting to defeat strong people all of a sudden?!' He ran to where Dan had landed to see if he was alright, only to realize that the latter was still conscious, and had gotten back onto his feet.
"Damn you, bitch!" He yelled, before charging forward once again.
Mid-sprint, he had suddenly clashed into a hard surface, falling towards the floor. Looking up, there was a woman towering above him, her eyes glowing bright yellow.
"How dare you attack one of my students?! Are you high or something?!" She yelled, before raising her leg and kicking him on the chin, sending his head and entire body flying backwards from the force of the impact.
However, Dan wasn't finished yet.
"I won't let you get in the way of what I want!" He yelled, getting back up to his feet, steam coming out of his mouth and both of his eyes.
The next second, and he charged in again, raising both his arms up and back, covering both of them in flames, before shooting them both forward, aiming straight for the female instructor standing in his way.
"This is madness! Does he really think he can take on one of the instructors?! He must certainly be asking for a death wish!"
"I think that boy is mad! I always knew there was something off about him after learning of his ability. Like, ability copy, doesn't that sound shady?"
The students were busy talking about what was currently taking place, but still, all eyes were on both the student and the instructor, going back and forth between the two of them. As Dan closed the distance, his fist had collided, however, it wasn't with the female instructor.
"I should've known you weren't done yet," Lucas said calmly, crushing his fist. "You know, your Mana isn't too bad either, being able to heal all the injuries I've inflicted so far. You seem to have a lot of potential to grow. Now, if only you weren't such a hothead who attacks his superiors anyhow!"
"Get out of my way, bastard!" Dan yelled, his eyes and expression resembling that of a madman. "If you don't, then I'll just have to deal with you as well!" He said, pushing his other arm forward. Instead of punching the instructor, the flames surrounding the fist had gone forward, right towards the female instructor standing behind him.
"Pathetic," she said, blocking them with a single hand. Of course, it wasn't like the flames would have done anything against her in her current level.
'What the fuck is going on?!' Kayla thought to herself, as her eyes had glanced towards Kayden, standing at another side of the room, who was thinking the same thing. 'Is he under the influence of something? What on Earth would make him go against the instructors just like that?!'
Witnessing what was taking place, the other instructors had soon gathered around the scene, while telling the other students to give them space to do what they needed to do. It was clear that this student had gone rouge, and they would have to subdue him before deciding on what to do afterwards.
Dan still looked to have a lot of energy, as he had attempted to punch Lucas in the ribs with his free hand, but he had grabbed hold of it, leaving him with nothing else other than his source of mobility to help him out. He tried swiping at the instructor's feet with his own.
Of course, the instructors had more resilience than the younger students, so his movements and attacks meant nothing to them. It was more so a pain that they had to deal with students like him from time to time.
Lucas, having grabbed both of his arms, proceeded to draw his body forward, before lifting it up in the air and kicking it with his leg, sending his body flying upwards and into the air. Midair, Dan had regained his balance, slashing his leg, creating a wave of flames that came downwards towards them.
"I'll handle it!" Kayla suddenly shouted, producing her own flames to counter the ability.
"There's no need! Don't get involved in matters that don't concern you!" Lucas shouted back, but it was too late as Kayla had gone ahead and done what she had said.
"Fools!" Dan suddenly said, as he landed on the ground. "You just made a foolish mistake!" He said, however, his expression looked far more different from what it once was. His eyes were glowing bright red, and both of his arms were brimming with flames.
"I will show you all that I am not weak. I am not the same boy who was afraid in that simulation!" He yelled, as he had shot both of his arms forward, pushing his flames towards the students and instructors.
"That's it. He's gone mad!" Lucas said, quickly running to get the students away from his blast radius. The other instructors were doing the same thing, making sure that not a single student was affected by the flames.
'This guy… does he want to surpass me?' Kayla thought, having gotten to safety. Her technique had been canceled, returning herself to the way she once was. 'No, I should only have to worry about one such person,' her head then turned towards Kayden once again.
'I can tell that no one but that mutt has the true drive to grow stronger.'
