Zain, who had been struggling to learn Mana control for a while now, was busy learning how to fight with his chosen magical weapon. His daggers required him to get in closer proximity with his opponent to utilize, but it was what suited him the most, since he had a lot of experience in hand-to-hand combat in the first place.
His opponent before him was the same student he had fought during the abilities class. The one whose ability tended to shift from one class to another. As these two continued to train, Zain was beginning to see that he was loosing the upper hand, as the latter was quickly catching up to him in terms of skills.
'This guy's got talent, but I'll show him that not everything's about being gifted!' Zain shouted in his mind, using his strength to push both of his opponent's hands aside, before delivering a wife slash to the cheat, drawing out blood and pushing him forward. However, the student would refuse to go down just like that, as he had quickly let go of his weapons, before grabbing Zain by the head and raising his body up, before slamming it on to the floor the same time as his body hit the floor as well.
Madison was also doing much better than before. Although the incident with her roommate had left her quite shaken, it seemed as though the experience had awoken a sense of confidence within her that made her more inclined to engage in more fights than usual, however, she was yet to ascend in rank.
It's been a while since she had heard of someone attacking Kayden, and after being severely beaten a couple times at the academy, she had more than enough motivation and reason to push herself to become stronger. If everything goes according to plan, then she could see herself doing well at the expedition course.
Today, everyone was meant to be focused on how to fight and defend themselves against each other. Similar to what had happened during the abilities class, the students were allowed to pick sparring partners to train with for the day.
While the instructors were taking roll call, they eventually realized that Kayden wasn't present in today's class, and although he wasn't the only one absent today, they were all interested in finding out why, ever since witnessing what had happened that day.
Bursting through the doors, were two students who were panting and sweating heavily. It was because they were physically exhausted, though. They we're just scared of what the instructors might do to them after finding out that they were late for the class.
"Marcus and Dan quickly ran into the room to join whatever it was the instructors were teaching the other students. Meanwhile, everyone was more focused on the training than on these two students. One of the instructors had walked towards the both of them.
He was the man that usually did most of the talking and he was the one who had shown everybody a bit of what his magical weapon could do back then. His name is Frank, and he is one of working staff at the academy with incredible power of his own.
"I assume you both know the punishment for being late?* he asked, not even sparring them a glance.
"Yes! Yes, sir!" they both answered at the same time. Neither of them was looking for trouble. The best thing any of them could do now is exactly what the instructor had said, and leading them from the front, they made their way into the Arena, and into a different area where students were kept to face punishment.
Upon entering this room, Dan and Marcus could see quite a bunch if students already present. A few were training rigorously in front of a man wearing clothing that resembled what the military would usually wear. He was bald-headed, and had a scar than ran across his left eye, from his forehead down to his lips.
His expression was cold and unforgiving. Marcus could feel a sense of dread just by looking at this man. Dan as well. They could sense a different kind of energy from this man that they couldn't sense around the others.
While all of this was going on, back at the second year students' building, Patricia and her friends were gathered in the same class they had come to before when planning on how they would deal with Kayden. However, this time around, the reason for them gathering was for something different.
"I have received orders from him. We are meant to start our operation on the day of the expedition course for the first year students," she said to everyone present. Everybody nodded their heads in understanding, before heading out of the classroom, meanwhile, in her hands, was the sword which had been broken by Kayden, looking good as new and with a couple upgrades as well.
"I don't feel satisfied with the punishment that brat had received,' she thought to herself, before going to join the others and heading towards their own beast weapons class for the day.
Kayden could feel his Mana rising back to what it once was. Using total concentration breathing, he was able to keep a calm mind, preventing his body from wasting essential energy and transferring that energy into his Mana.
One of the teachers from the beast weapons class suddenly entered the infermary, startling both Kayden and the nurse. Looking at the condition the teenager was in, his face began to twitch uncontrollably, before eventually slamming the door behind him and storming off.
Shocked, Kayden turned to look at the nurse, who had decided to shift her gaze away from both Kayden and the door, seeing as this had nothing to do with her. Kayden was wondering why the instructor had acted that way, and just what he might do to him in the future.
At the academy, although it was allowed for students in the same year to fight each other, it was strictly prohibited for students from different years to fight each other. The reason for this was simply because, the power difference between two such student would be far too great. What could as first year student learn from getting totally beaten up by a second year?
The instructor was on his way to the second year students' building to fish out the students who were responsible for breaking this rule. Not having much rules in the first place, the academy had placed severe punishments attached to any rule break that a student commits.
On his way there, the instructor began to feel a ringing pain in his head, causing him to grant in pain. Shaking his head, he tried to shake off what this feeling was that was affecting him, however, the pain had subsided not long after. Looking around, he had his eyebrows raised in confusion.
"Hold on, wasn't I just teaching those first year students a minute ago? What the hell am I even doing here?" the man thought, before turning back and heading towards the other building.
Later that night, and Kayden had managed to regain a large chunk of his Mana back thanks to the total concentration breathing technique. However, since he and the other students in the mystery ability division had been far too busy going about those simulations, they hadn't been taught about the technique know as Mana control.
Scared, he was wondering what would happen to him the next day. The instructors might send him to the Arena to serve punishment. What would he do then? And who knew what sort of punishment was served in that place? Kayden had heard of the names of students who had gone through such punishment in the past, however, it was never disclosed what sort of punishment such students were forced to endure.
With this thought in mind, he went to bed that night restless. The next day, he got up, feeling heavier than he usually did, and forced himself to get ready for the day ahead of him. Seeing how Kayden was acting a little more depressed than usual, Paul was wondering what might be wrong with him.
During the normal classes, Kayden had his head on the desk, trying his best to sleep his worries away, but, constantly remembering the things that had happened yesterday was just making him more and more nervous. He hadn't slept well last night, and dark bags began to form under his eyes. His face was even beginning to look dull from all the stress.
Using his improved hearing, he was able to pick up on a couple girls gossiping about him. They were busy calling him all sorts of names a d how he would son fall to the boredom. Not knowing these students in the first place, he decided to ignore them and turned his attention towards the windows, starting out into the bright blue sky outside.
