She arrived at the mall faster than she thought, and since she had some free time before Kyle arrived, she decided to check out the book store she and Isabelle liked.
Her feet led her through the stands of books, until she finally arrived to the historical fiction section she so much liked. She skimmed through the titles until one of them caught her attention.
Like by instinct, her hand took it, feeling the texturized cover in her fingertips. She loved the feeling on her skin, taking it as a good sign.
Cassidy always had a feeling every time she grabbed a book. It was like a vibe.; and this book was one of those she could feel would be good.
She eyed the back of the book, reading the summary as to make the final choice. She was not supposed to spend money on this today, but heck, 'Wicked Crown Series: The Heir And The Forbidden Song' sounded like a good plot already.
A faint smile appeared on her lips, when a sudden weight on her shoulders startled her. A couple of arms wrapped around her firmly, a deep voice tickling her ear.
"I knew I'd found you here."
Kyle's voice was easy to recognize, making her relax as fast as she was surprised in the first place. She let the air out soundly.
"You scared me for a second." Her face dropped back, leaning over Kyle's chest. She looked at him. "You should've told me you were here."
"I tried, but you weren't picking your phone." He smiled. "So I thought about looking for you here since you told me you liked this place."
Their faces were a little too close, the proximity making her skin feel more sensitive. His tender touch over her sending smalls sparks through her skin.
She was surprised to know he even remembered something she mentioned only once, days back. Her stare lasted longer than she thought.
Kyle cleared his throat, her gaze heavy enough to make him feel uneasy.
"What?" He eyed her face, and wondered when she's become prettier than he remembered.
Isabelle was a rare beauty, and he knew some guys had a secret crush on her. Cassidy, though, was quite popular among guys. He wasn't sure if she knew, but it was an understatement that she was beautiful.
"Nothing, I was surprised you remembered." She smiled. "I could get used to that." She winked, ignoring how his proximity made her shiver.
Kyle scoffed. "I haven't done anything yet, and you're already falling or me?"
"If you call that 'doing nothing', I can't wait for what you'll do next."
"Setting the bar too high myself, huh?" He laughed, setting his eyes on the book on her hands. "What's that about?"
She lent him the book so he could check it out, something he did still with one arm around her.
It didn't bother her, even though she still felt too self-conscious
"I still have to figure that out."
He hummed, finishing reading the summary. "Why do you like these kinds of book?"
Cassidy thought about it for a second. "I guess I get tired of reality sometimes. And what's the opposite of reality? Historical fantasy." She giggled. "It's good to set your mind in other things."
Kyle dropped the book on her hands, thoughtful.
Unexpectedly, his body drifted away from hers, leaving a cold breeze surrounding her. Again, her disappointment disappointed her.
"When you're done with it, lemme give it a try."
Her chocolate brown eyes widened. "For real?"
"Yeah, why not? Gotta try it before hating it, right?" He shrugged, walking towards the cashier.
She smiled. "Right."
Her body practically levitated to him, wanting to cut as much distance as possible. Her mind was too stubborn to admit she liked being around him.
After paying her new acquisition, they walked for a little while around the halls; checking out a couple stores, one of which was Kyle's favorite. He took that chance to buy another controller, as the one he had at home had accidentally dropped inside the toilet.
They walked a little more, until she noticed they had passed by the same eyewear store a couple of times. So far, she thought she was following him.
With a swift move, she held his arm to stop him.
"Do you need to go somewhere?"
"Me? No… You said you wanted something, though." He answered, one eyebrow raised.
"I don't need to go anywhere." She said, tilting her head.
His vivid green eyes looked at her for a second, then a smug wide smirk decorated his features. He shoved his hands inside his pockets, leaning forward.
"Didn't you meet me here because you wanted something… Sweet?" He stepped closer to her, eyeing her eyes, then her lips, and then up again. "And I don't mean a kiss."
Her heart stopped for a second, taking a lot of self-control to not either snap back at him or just kiss his mouth shut. Her brain cells moved, trying to think back.
This was an opportunity he would not neglect. Seeing her quiet, not remembering at all the reason she texted him first in the first place, somehow excited him.
"Never mind." He said, his mood obviously on the clouds. "C'mon, wanna grab something to eat?"
He stepped away, and looked around to remember where he was, exactly. He had been walking around just by inertia.
"No, tell me!" She insisted, annoyed, Following him back closely.
Kyle ignored her words, and started walking again.
"Tell me what was it, or—" She warned.
Only that Cassidy didn't think he would turn back, clashing her body against his. She slightly stumbled back, the rebound was not enough to drop her to the floor, but did make her take a step back.
Yet, by reflex, his arms held her in place.
And everything was fine. Her heart was beating normally, and her brain was still functioning properly even after the sudden movement, until he decided to grab her jaw to make her look up.
Right then, once more, she was a nervous wreck.
His green eyes, so alive and bright, looked down at her lips intently; his hand ddidn't let her look somewhere else.
The distance between them were merely a couple of inches, when his sweet breath stroke her face slightly.
"Or?" He murmured softly.
The tremor she felt in her heart, along with the butterflies flying violently inside her belly, made her snap back to reality. She was not one of those girls that are easily hypnotized by a guy's charms just like that.
She was not having that.
She COULDN'T have that.
Cassidy summoned all the years of experience being a sassy bitch, letting that side of her take over. She leaned her body forward, using both of her hands to support her weight on Kyle's hips.
She let her breath mingle with his as she slightly brushed her lips against his.
Kyle felt a knot form in his throat, blinking a couple of times as her answer caught him off guard.
"I know how to play these games too, Venegan." She whispered. "And I'm not sure if you're ready for that."
A wave of excitement rushed through their bodies, as if the game had already started and they were in the thrill of the moment. Kyle didn't step back, too mesmerized by her sudden sex appeal display.
"What if I am?" He replied, amused, eager to tease her a little more, only to see how far she could go.
Because he knew himself quite well and, as far as his brain and his dick could tell, he could go as far as she wanted.
